So in the last video we spoke about how a lot
2
of us tend to connect what our purpose is in this dunya with what we actually do.
3
Which, to be honest, I don't think, as you guys have probably heard in the last video, doesn't really make any sense, does it?
4
So, Pannala, there's this notion from, it's truly like capitalist, this kind of notion.
5
That our purpose, we're supposed to find it.
6
That we're supposed to find our purpose or that it's supposed to find us.
7
and that only once you find your purpose
8
or you truly be able to leave it
9
or to live a meaningful life but subhanallah what's who's telling these people what their purpose is who's telling them
10
ah
11
but we don't mean purpose as in why we've been created
12
talking about why we want to live what drives us to wake up in the morning
13
and tackle the day subhanallah you can have no purpose yet wake up every single morning tackle the day
14
and still do something that is meaningful even if you don't have that quote-unquote purpose that these people are talking about.
15
Us Muslims, subhanAllah, we know what our actual purpose is in the reason why we've been created.
16
We know what it is, which is so much stronger, in my opinion, I'm sure in your opinion as well,
17
as a purpose compared to the do-it-yourself DIY kind of purpose.
18
You get what I'm trying to say?
19
So, subhanAllah, with this video, you've probably seen the title, I want to talk about talents.
20
and when I talk about talents one of the things
21
that I really want to share is something I read from
22
this book I'll always quote it you guys will probably hear
23
me subhanallah talk about it not in just this video
24
but probably in so many other videos
25
and it's from this book from Imam al-Ghazali it's called The Alchemy of Happiness subhanallah subhanallah like what an incredible book
26
his first chapter he talks about I mean the book just talks about how a Muslim can achieve happiness
27
which in reality is just like tranquility and peace contentment with Allah
28
but in his first chapter he talks about something incredible
29
which is the knowledge of thyself the knowledge of of yourself do you know who you are
30
which is the question
31
that I was asking you in the in the last video
32
do you know who you are why you're here right how do you what's your identity
33
and I'm not talking again about what you're doing in this dunya, I'm talking about who you are.
34
And Imam al-Ghazali, subhanAllah, he has this incredible notion.
35
He says that the only way to truly know who you are is to first know who created you.
36
Why you live in this world.
37
What is this world?
38
In fact, it's one of the chapters.
39
Knowledge of this world.
40
Knowledge of the Akhirah.
41
What's waiting for us?
42
SubhanAllah and only once you are able to understand
43
and to answer these questions of who's your creator why he
44
created you why are you in this dunya for what what even is the dunya
45
and what's waiting for you then subhanallah only then can you truly understand who you are
46
and one of the best things i also believe
47
but please do correct me this as well please do
48
because i am kind of speaking from let's say inspirational things
49
that i've noticed but one of the best things that a fact
50
that fascinates me of muslims is the fitrah the fitrah in
51
the sense of our natural predisposition to be a certain way now there's parts of the fitrah
52
that are the same for everyone some people uh
53
or at least forgive me every single human being has that innate fitrah of being able to find Allah عز و جل, of being able to reconnect to Allah,
54
to find Him, being able to know that He, Allah عز و جل, is the only Allah, is the only creator in this dunya.
55
Everybody has this fitrah.
56
But then every single person, and there's a hadith of one of the sahabi that was asking the Prophet ﷺ about this, all of us have different parts of our fitrah.
57
Again, may Allah forgive me if I'm making mistakes, but I think I'm pretty right with this.
58
An example is talents which is part of the title of this video.
59
Allah gives talents and makes things easy, enjoyable for other people compared to others and a great example is Khalidi bin Al-Walid.
60
He loved war, he loved, he was so passionate about war.
61
There's so many quotes you can read about him subhanAllah that he used to literally say that
62
he'd prefer going into the battlefield
63
so much more than having to spend the night with the
64
most beautiful of women it's such an interesting quote especially for like the brothers of course
65
subhanallah but it's such an interesting quote
66
because as well as all the other quotes he has about war right
67
that just allow you to understand once you actually go on
68
you just research even the minimum about him subhanallah how he used his design
69
that allah created him for and used his talent
70
that allah put in him
71
which is the talent of being able to strategize the talent
72
of being able to fight the talent the innate predisposition of
73
being tall of being fit of being big of just being
74
the right person the best person in the battlefield he was created for
75
that and the Prophet Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam tells us after he took control in one of the great battles against the Romans.
76
I can't remember the numbers, but wow, crazy numbers.
77
Like I think it was one to ten, the ratio between Muslims and the Romans.
78
And when he took control and he was a fourth general in that battle to take control.
79
Subhanallah, the Prophet Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam said, Allah Azawajal has named you Khalidi bin Al-Walid Asayfullah, the sword of Allah.
80
Remind you, he was not a Hafiz.
81
He didn't know much hadith about the Prophet Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam.
82
He just knew the bare minimum.
83
Yet, you cannot go and say that he did not live his life to the fullest.
84
Although he was not a Hafiz, you cannot say that Khalidi bin Al-Walid did not follow his purpose of worshipping Allah.
85
He followed it with excellence because he followed his talents.
86
And how can you as a person know what your talents are? because one of the most common questions I get is, but I don't think I have talents.
87
I don't think I have them.
88
What if I don't have talents?
89
What do I do?
90
Do I need to find it?
91
Do I need to create it?
92
You're full of talents.
93
Absolutely full of them.
94
You just don't know or maybe you don't like them, but that's just how you are.
95
Let me explain.
96
Going back to the fitrah, what's one of the best examples?
97
Forgive me for interrupting the video.
98
I've been taught
99
that putting this in the middle of the video helps with getting people into what you create
100
and what you do and I feel as
101
if what I'm about to share with you is one of the most valuable things I have to give you.
102
I have a community that's called Jannah's Path.
103
It's for young Muslims who feel lost and want to find their sense of direction through Islam.
104
Very simple.
105
If you want to join you can click the link below.
106
You'll either find it in the description or the comment section below.
107
It's free.
108
There's also one dollar a month tier if you want to access calls, the classroom section and everything else
109
but the basic community side it's completely free to join it doesn't require you any incredible physical effort
110
and if you were to do so it would absolutely mean the world to me
111
and that's basically it back to the video okay
112
so i just got attacked by literally like a helicopter whatever
113
it may be a hornet i don't know it was crazy we saw
114
that what the hell um
115
but oh well hand like going back to what i was saying subhanallah
116
when we talk about talents um one of the things
117
that you can do as a person is the best example of a fitrah the best example of
118
how we are naturally predisposed and you can notice it a lot is in children
119
young children they tend to be the most natural authentic version of who they actually are And the more they get old,
120
the more they slightly drift away from that fitrah, don't them?
121
Don't they?
122
Forgive me.
123
Subhanallah.
124
Children tend to be exactly who they are.
125
And when they change, when they become teenagers and then adults, in a lot of cases, it's not actually them changing and it's positive.
126
In some cases, and this is what I believe and it's what I'm noticing with myself,
127
some changes about myself are great and I'd never want to change them these changes
128
but in other cases I noticed that a lot of parts about myself
129
that are not anymore part of who I am
130
but they used to be
131
when I used to be a child I removed them from who I was without even realizing because of many traumas,
132
because of fears, because of social pressures, whatever it may be.
133
And so I'm noticing the more time goes on, I notice within myself that there's parts of who I used to be
134
that are not in me anymore or that they are in me, but I'm just constantly suppressing.
135
And I truly believe that these parts of myself, that if I actually learn to let them out again and to actually be myself again,
136
subhanallah, I'll be able to live more peacefully because I'll actually be who I am.
137
Now, I want to ask you three questions.
138
Now, think about this.
139
The more you think about your childhood, the more you think about who you were as a young girl or young boy,
140
of course, the more it allows you to remember all the things that you love doing, all the things that you enjoy, the things that you like, the things that excited you as a child,
141
but also allows you to understand the things that you absolutely hated.
142
And both things are absolutely great because they'll help you so much with understanding
143
what you also want to do in this dunya, which is important.
144
You can't just wake up and not do anything.
145
You can't just idle live and not do anything every single day.
146
Just eat, sleep and rinse and repeat, right?
147
It doesn't work that way.
148
You need to do something.
149
But once you truly realize and you ask yourself when you were a child, what used to actually not like you?
150
and in most cases the things that didn't like you
151
that you hated that really you just didn't want to deal with
152
if you're dealing with them now and you're forcing yourself to like them you'll realize
153
that deep down you don't actually like them might actually be
154
that you're just not meant to do
155
that you're not just maybe it may be
156
that you're not meant to be that kind of person because as a child
157
Allah clearly wants you to not have to deal with that.
158
Okay this is not for everything example let me actually give you two examples.
159
You may be someone who doesn't like talking in front of a lot of crowds.
160
You may be really socially anxious, but you also may be a genius.
161
A genius in the sense, a very logical person.
162
Someone who can reason at such a speed that normal people don't actually do.
163
If you try and force yourself to become socially confident it's good
164
because you need it but when you try
165
and actually turn your entire personality into this super charismatic super
166
socially confident person you actually might risk turning into someone who is fake
167
and you might actually notice that your social battery tends to wear out
168
so much quicker if you actually never used to be
169
that kind of person and if you try and suppress
170
that part of yourself that was so good at reasoning at doing logical things like maths or whatever it may be, studying, being with books that it was so easy for you to do.
171
If you try and suppress that you might actually realize that living your day-to-day life,
172
although you've changed, you actually feel as if you're tired all the time, you're just not content all the time,
173
you just feel as if you can't find something that's passionate because you're just not in tune with who you actually are.
174
So let me ask you these questions.
175
Think about when you were in your childhood
176
and think about the things you liked excited you
177
but especially think about the things
178
that were easy for you then also think about the things you didn't like the things
179
that you hated and especially the things
180
that were extremely hard for you to do compared to others
181
that will allow you to find your talents a talent at the end of the day is just something
182
that Allah has put in you naturally
183
that doesn't come from you it comes from Allah
184
that allows you to do something with such an ease compared to others
185
that people say you are talented and in this case he was talented
186
when it came to war he was talented when it came to strategizing
187
war plans he was talented as a general and he used
188
that for the sake of allah so think of all the different things
189
that as a child you loved excited you were super easy for you to do
190
and And the best thing you can do is if you can connect that to worshipping Allah.
191
Wow.
192
That's probably one of the best things you can do.
193
And you'll notice this with so many different Sahabi.
194
So many different Sahabi.
195
Because the Prophet was just so complete.
196
He had so many talents that, wow.
197
You could say he was great at speaking in front of crowns.
198
But you could also say he was the best at reasoning and doing all that kind of stuff.
199
He was neither socially anxious or awkward,
200
nor was he, astaghfirullah, nor was he someone who was incapable, incapable of reasoning.
201
He was excellent in every single field.
202
The Sahabi, not being perfect, you can notice that more.
203
And the Sahabi, this is a hadith from the Prophet ﷺ, and I'll close this off.
204
The Sahabi, radiallahu anhum, the Prophet ﷺ says that they're like stars
205
that whichever you follow they'll always guide you or they'll always allow you to find direction so go
206
and look at them look at who they used to be of course the the righteous ones don't go
207
and look at the munafiqoon because that's another issue altogether that i don't want to get into
208
but subhanallah wow on that note salam alaykum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuh
