Shadowing Practice: I won't make tutorial videos anymore. Here is what I will do instead - Learn English Speaking with Video

1
So I decided to stop posting any tutorials or AI content on my channel.
2
And in this video I want to share with you my thoughts why I'm doing that and what I will post instead.
3
You probably saw on YouTube that most developers who were posting tutorial videos stopped doing that after AI.
4
And there were lots of developers' channels and they either stopped posting completely or they started posting about something completely different,
5
like for example creating their own projects.
6
And the answer here is simple.
7
With AI people stopped using YouTube, for example, or courses in order to obtain knowledge.
8
It is much simpler to do that through AI.
9
And essentially my point of view that this is not always a best approach
10
because sometimes from one single big video you can grasp the whole understanding of some big feature like for example purchases.
11
But obviously in most cases AI is just enough for developers to fix their problems,
12
implement features and they don't need all these courses and tutorials anymore.
13
This is why developer tutorials on YouTube are essentially dead.
14
From all content creators that I followed, only one or two, which are really big one, continue posting, but even for them,
15
the views amount that they are getting is 3 or 5 times less.
16
Some of developers switch to post AI content instead of tutorials, but I find it quite boring, and it doesn't really bring a lot of views.
17
But the main problem here is the income.
18
Most developers who are posting on YouTube for their community have some courses or programs that they are selling.
19
And this is how they can support their family and continue producing content.
20
Because essentially, as you can understand, it takes lots of time to produce every single video.
21
And after AI came out and all people started using it, the amount of people who are buying my courses dropped significantly.
22
So it is not enough for me to continue doing what I was doing.
23
And additionally to that I don't think that doing tutorials make sense anymore if all people just don't need them.
24
This is why my idea for this year was to try something new and check different things using my experience.
25
And like a lot of other developers who were youtubers I looked on creating own projects because this is what makes sense.
26
You already have some skills of programming so building something uses your skills.
27
At the beginning of the year I tried mobile development
28
because I saw some posts on Twitter about people who have their own portfolio of small mobile apps.
29
It didn't go well because the problem there is the same.
30
The amount of mobile apps is significantly larger nowadays because of AI, so without good marketing it is extremely difficult to get some customers
31
and my applications got several purchases but nothing significant this is why after
32
that in summer i tried game development first of all
33
because it was always interesting for me and i spent countless hours playing games
34
when i was younger so my focus for the second half of this year is game development
35
and this is exactly the type of content
36
that you can expect on this channel further i won't post
37
videos two times a week it will be more like two times per month
38
so now I essentially work on my first game and I already had some decent progress.
39
Again, no design or game development experience before, just programming knowledge.
40
So I hope you will still like to follow my channel, even if it goes from the direction of tutorials more to creating and building stuff.

Why This Video Is Perfect for Language Learning

This video is a goldmine for speaking practice because it features natural, conversational English. The speaker shares personal decisions and challenges, using everyday vocabulary and a relaxed tone—exactly the kind of language you’ll use in real-life conversations. The pacing is steady, making it easy to follow, and the content is relatable, which helps you stay engaged as you practice. Whether you’re working on pronunciation or fluency, this dialogue offers a realistic model to emulate.

Breaking Down Natural Speech Patterns

Let’s look at a few lines that showcase natural English: 1. “You probably saw on YouTube that most developers who were posting tutorial videos stopped doing that after AI.” The phrase “stopped doing that” is a common, casual way to avoid repetition—native speakers often use such shortcuts. 2. “And the answer here is simple. With AI people stopped using YouTube, for example, or courses in order to obtain knowledge.” The pause after “simple” and the use of “for example” mirror how we speak spontaneously, adding clarity without formality. 3. “So it is not enough for me to continue doing what I was doing.” The structure “continue doing what I was doing” is a natural way to refer back to a previous action, avoiding awkward rephrasing. These examples show how native speakers balance clarity and conversational flow.

A Simple Practice Routine Using the Shadowing Technique

To improve your speaking and pronunciation, try this shadowing exercise with the video:

  1. Watch a 10-second clip of the video, focusing on the speaker’s intonation and rhythm.
  2. Play the clip again, pausing after each sentence, and repeat it out loud immediately—mimic the tone, speed, and stress. This is the shadowing technique, which trains your mouth to move like a native.
  3. Record yourself repeating the clip. Compare your recording to the original, noting differences in pronunciation (e.g., how “AI” is stressed) or pacing.
  4. Repeat with a new clip, gradually increasing the length as you get more comfortable.
Do this 10–15 minutes daily, and you’ll notice improved fluency and confidence in your English speaking. This routine works because it connects listening, speaking, and muscle memory—key for mastering natural communication.
