1
Hi, I'm Toria Delori, and this is my camper van
2
that I have been building out for the last two and a half years.
3
Which gave me plenty of time to perfect not only the nerdiness,
4
but also the unique features in my van.
5
From the second full-length hidden kitchen counter,
6
a bat signal, a fixed bed that converts into a couch,
7
a back-to-the-future themed cab, and even storage tables.
8
After living nomadically for six years and in numerous kinds of vehicles,
9
I think I may have truly made my perfect castle home on wheels.
10
I am so excited to show you all of the little hidden details
11
and movie references and just how fun I made this van.
12
I wanted to live in something that brought me joy and so I really think that's what this is.
13
Are you ready kids?
14
Aye aye captain.
15
So let's start with a fun fact about my lights.
16
They're really creepy because
17
when you do this you look like you could be in a smile movie so that's a great start.
18
So welcome to the front of my van
19
and this is my partition door
20
and I did not have one of these in my last van
21
and it's already one of my favorite additions
22
and it's a really big deal because
23
if I ever get in an accident I you know won't have this sword fly forward
24
and stab me in the back while I'm driving you know
25
or that dagger I'm not trying to be Caesar it's also really great at temperature regulation
26
because the windows in the front are so big they let
27
so much heat in and this stops that from getting back into the cab in the living area.
28
So, and then on it,
29
I put this necklace from Lord of the Rings.
30
And above that is the sign that you see when you're entering Disneyland.
31
I used to work in Disneyland and Disney World.
32
When I worked in Disneyland,
33
I took a 30-day road trip across America sleeping in the back of my Honda Accord.
34
And it was the greatest month of my life.
35
And I loved it so much.
36
But I just was not good at car camping.
37
And I knew I wanted to keep doing that,
38
but I knew I had to upgrade.
39
This is a clothesline that I put in to make drying my clothes after laundry day a little bit easier,
40
and it runs all the way to the back of my van.
41
I have my car keys,
42
that way if anything ever happens in the middle of the night I can just grab them
43
and go right up to the cab,
44
and down here is my cat Betty's food,
45
and a little Honeyduke's container of course,
46
and then this is the Mirror of Irised from Harry Potter,
47
and it essentially shows you what you desire most in life,
48
But also in the movie,
49
it's a reminder to not dwell on dreams and forget to live in the moment.
50
Yeah, so I love this mirror, but...
51
Mine's definitely broken.
52
I don't know what that was.
53
But moving on to my full-size closet,
54
and this sword is meant to be a replica of Damaris from Throne of Glass.
55
And I had Rattle of Stars engraved on it,
56
and it is removable in case I ever need it.
57
But then once you open this up,
58
you've got way too many clothes,
59
more than anyone ever needs.
60
I also have a full jewelry organizer in here that has,
61
of course, like Katara's necklace,
62
the coin from Pirates of the Caribbean,
63
lemon grab earrings, horcruxes, everything a girl needs, really.
64
More storage, lots of notebooks.
65
I have a notebook addiction.
66
I love writing.
67
But also just stickers from different things that I went to.
68
So Turn 4 Pour from Daytona 500,
69
Everglades National Park, Key West,
70
Mount Rushmore, New York Comic Con.
71
I interviewed to do the FIFA World Cup media,
72
which would be really cool if that happens.
73
The US Open, just a lot of NASCAR stuff.
74
And yeah, just some memories from my trips in the van.
75
If you're enjoying this video and you want to help out a girl solo traveling the country,
76
please consider taking a moment to like and subscribe to my channel.
77
I appreciate all of your support
78
and it really can go a long way in helping me
79
stay on the road traveling full time as well as get access to events like NASCAR
80
and the World Cup to make more vlogs in cooler places and be able to share all of those adventures with you.
81
And then on this side of the van I have my full kitchen unit.
82
So my water system which is a five gallon water jug
83
that leads through a whale foot pump into a water filter up through this faucet here then down to the gray water.
84
So pretty simple.
85
In the video I called it adult Legos a lot because
86
I think 80% of doing anything is just believing that you can do it.
87
And so simplifying how it sounds in my head,
88
instead of being like, oh,
89
I'm learning plumbing, being like,
90
oh, this is just Legos really helped build my confidence.
91
And with woodworking, I just called it sewing with wood.
92
So on the wall, I have a pet temperature monitor and my RedArc RedVision,
93
which tells me everything I need to know about my electrical system throughout the entire van.
94
So in the back, I have two 206 amp hour SOK batteries attached to the RedArc Manager Alpha 100
95
and I'm able to charge that a few different ways.
96
One is the two solar panels on the roof,
97
so I have 500 watts on the roof.
98
I also have a 75 watt alternator charger.
99
I also can plug into shore power and my little secret way is
100
that there's an app called PlugShare
101
that you can pretty much go anywhere in the country and plug in your van and get it recharge.
102
Which has changed everything for me and is so great.
103
Above my RedArc Red Vision I have Lego minifigures from the TV show The Boys.
104
I even have Translucent.
105
I think he's the most detailed one.
106
Next to that I have this photo frame
107
that actually opens up to be two wall outlets so I can make dinner up here.
108
I bring the oven up here.
109
I plug it in.
110
I make smoothies with my blender
111
and then I can just close it up and you never have to see the wall outlet.
112
I also have these two switches,
113
which I could have put them on the Red Vision,
114
but I wanted these.
115
Like I needed them to be here.
116
So this is the bat signal.
117
And when you click it,
118
either Lego Batman shows up or an alarm goes off and just around the entire van.
119
So it kind of gives a warning and if anything bad ever happens,
120
which yes, I have had to use it.
121
I have had someone try to break into the back of my van in the middle of the night.
122
Great times.
123
And next to that is Dragonfire,
124
which actually makes my LED lights go on,
125
which are hard to see during the day.
126
They glow red as if Dragonfire is pulling up the van.
127
And this symbol is actually from the book Fourth Wing.
128
So I also have the book Fight Club here,
129
which I've been reading lately and I actually think is a great book about van life.
130
It's only after we've lost everything that we're free to do anything
131
because you see the things you own end up owning you.
132
Advertising has us chasing cars and clothes,
133
working jobs we hate so we can buy shit we don't need to impress people we don't even like.
134
So good!
135
But anyway, I have an oven down here,
136
a bunch of storage drawers,
137
my trash can, my water, lightsaber.
138
I'm Tori Delori and you're watching Disney Channel.
139
Do do do do.
140
Look, I could have, I could have Avada Kedavah, would you? because this is Hermione's wand,
141
but I didn't.
142
See, I buy too much stuff,
143
and that's why I need that book.
144
The next thing in my van build is my upper cabinets.
145
This one has my microwave,
146
my toaster oven, and some plates up top.
147
This one is all of my camera gear,
148
my energy drink addiction, my Minecraft lamp,
149
my BMO storage bag, just a bunch of random stuff,
150
as well as my TravelFi internet which is how I get internet on the road.
151
After that I have the third cabinet which is my cruise
152
and comfort air conditioner which is how I cool down the van.
153
It is 12 volts.
154
It's also under mounted so it saves me a lot of roof space
155
so that I can have my dream roof deck
156
because I love going to NASCAR races
157
so I needed a roof deck to stand on and so this is completely was just like a no-brainer for me.
158
I needed the under mount.
159
I also have the Van Life Tech Radiant Hydronic heated floors for a heater in the winter.
160
It is much, much, much better than the Wabasto I had in my last van
161
because I used to wake up
162
and it would be like negative four degrees in the van when I lived in Vermont and it was horrible.
163
As well as my security cameras.
164
So I come over here and I can turn this on
165
and I can lay in bed and look at the security cameras,
166
which has just made me feel so much safer in the van.
167
One of the best upgrades I've made for sure.
168
This down here is my projector screen so that I can watch movies or TV shows,
169
which I know you didn't think I liked movies,
170
but I guess I kind of do.
171
And over here is more hidden picture frames.
172
This was definitely an idea I got from Pinterest,
173
but now I can just open these up and have my control switches without ruining the aesthetics of the van.
174
This is kind of boring.
175
It's just a door to the garage.
176
However, as you can see,
177
I go to the gym a lot.
178
And up here I have a full slide-out table at four feet long.
179
And in my last van, I also had this.
180
And I knew I wanted it in this van,
181
except with one little tweak,
182
which is that when you open this,
183
now there's storage inside, which when you have a van, storage is key.
184
So all of my makeup and my hair stuff with a mirror I can do every morning.
185
And well, when I have motivation.
186
And on this side is a full desk.
187
So I have a computer screen,
188
a Geekom mini PC, the official TVA notebook,
189
the captain's log from the United Federation of Planets.
190
What else could you need?
191
I've got a keyboard that this piece of wood that sits up here so I can type on the keyboard.
192
It's super functional.
193
Everywhere I can get an extra inch of space is always appreciated.
194
And over here is Betty's home.
195
She's got her framed photos of Pedro Pascal as the Mandalorian,
196
her name, and of course the heart of the ocean.
197
Under here is my Dometic 75 liter fridge freezer.
198
I actually got mine from Bob Vance from Vance Refrigeration in Scranton,
199
Pennsylvania, so very special limited edition.
200
And one of the top secret unique things
201
that I actually come up with all on my own for this van build is
202
that this bench seat actually turns into a second table.
203
I know.
204
You didn't see that coming.
205
Very exciting.
206
And there you go.
207
Within seconds, I have a second table for second breakfast or whatever else I need it for.
208
It's very sturdy.
209
Definitely can still hold a lot of weight,
210
but it takes up no storage space in the van.
211
And now I have two full kitchen counters.
212
And the only reason I thought of this was
213
because it felt criminal to take this big piece of wood and just screw it into the bench.
214
So, multi-purpose.
215
At this point, you might be wondering,
216
should you start van life?
217
Well, let me help.
218
Have you ever wanted to live in parking lots?
219
Do you love using outhouses?
220
Do you want to make your house your entire identity?
221
Do you love becoming actually homeless whenever your car has to go to the mechanic?
222
Do you want to increase the number of spiders you eat in a year?
223
Then van life might be for you.
224
There's nothing quite like the feeling of escaping the matrix to realize you've just entered another one
225
because there truly is no escape except death.
226
Possibly.
227
We don't actually know that for sure.
228
So if this sounds interesting to you,
229
quick, go out, buy a vehicle almost the price of a house.
230
That makes you wonder, wait,
231
why am I doing this again?
232
So quick, get a van.
233
Actually, don't.
234
And this is the final area inside the van.
235
This is my bed and it is a full-size bed
236
and it also has hinges in the middle so it can fold up and become a couch.
237
That's still a little bit of a work in progress because I need to add some more supports in the back,
238
but essentially it folds up,
239
becomes a couch, and I can watch some movies up in the front
240
and have the projector screen hang there
241
and just be able to sit up in bed if there's ever anyone else here and,
242
you know, whatever happens if other people are here.
243
I don't, I don't know.
244
I don't have friends.
245
Besides that, there's just a lot of pillows which actually are camouflage.
246
I like store things under here to hide it.
247
So my Starlink's behind that pillow.
248
I have a little table.
249
Who even knows what's back there?
250
A portal ring from Doctor Strange?
251
You really never know what you're going to find behind these pillows.
252
There's also a skylight up in the back corner,
253
which I can use instead of a ladder to get up onto my roof deck.
254
My roof has two 250 watt solar panels,
255
a Lumar Marine boat hatch that I use as a skylight,
256
a max air fan, a high boost internet booster,
257
and a full roof deck,
258
which all sits on my Orion roof rack.
259
Welcome to my Back to the Future themed cab.
260
It starts with my flux capacitor sign.
261
And of course, I do also have a flux capacitor that does light up down here at the bottom as well.
262
I have to keep it down there because I do try to keep this vehicle pretty stealth.
263
This sign does come off and I have a different one that goes in that spot that says caution waste products.
264
That way anyone who walks by thinks it's a poop van because who wants to break into a poop van?
265
No one.
266
Hopefully.
267
There's some weirdos out there.
268
You never know.
269
But I also have some reminders up here like the height of my vehicle,
270
so I never get in that kind of accident.
271
And also an internet reminder,
272
which is interesting because like two weeks ago,
273
I did have my internet on my roof and I did drive away.
274
And rest in peace to my original TravelFi router.
275
In here, I keep my maintenance notebook as well as all my van build notes.
276
And I keep a mileage tracker for everywhere
277
that I go for tax reasons and I also keep a picture of the reason that I do everything that I do.
278
Little Magikarp.
279
I don't know if you guys noticed but my nails are all derpy Pokemon today.
280
This is one of my favorite parts of the van.
281
It's a step that I made
282
because in a Promaster this does kind of dip a little bit
283
and so I wanted it to be stronger
284
but then I hand painted it with a quote from Throne of Glass and you're just so cute aren't you?
285
I also have a mat up here because in a Ram ProMaster,
286
the battery is actually right here.
287
And one time, I spilled a whole thing of chocolate milk right down into it.
288
So now I at least have a buffer between the battery.
289
On the passenger side, I store all of my shoes down at the bottom.
290
And then Betty has her little car seat up that can buckle into the chair.
291
This is Betty's litter box,
292
and it has the Lord of the Rings,
293
no admittance except on potty business sign on the outside,
294
and a Gandalf you shall not pass gas sign on the inside,
295
as well as a little Edward from Twilight meme.
296
But most importantly, it does have an external ventilation system to the outside of the van,
297
because what she'd be doing in there makes Chernobyl seem like a peaceful afternoon.
298
To spice up the dashboard,
299
I put some stickers up here like the bananas from Mario Kart,
300
the Grim Reapers, and a fire missile button.
301
I also have some ghosts and the DeLorean
302
because my last name is Delory and that's actually what started the whole Back to the Future theme up here.
303
And I would say the best piece up in the cab is Han Solo's dice.
304
And I think that concludes the inside tour so let me show you the garage.
305
so this is a little stand for my ipad or a phone
306
or whatever i want to be able to watch movies in bed with
307
and then i also use this little table to store my lightsaber
308
and something i want you to know about me is
309
that i took the time to learn the ob annie spin
310
but i've never taken the time to learn what a 401k is.
311
That's really not funny though, is it?
312
So down here is my electrical system.
313
This is the Redarc Manager Alpha 100.
314
The TVMS Rogue acts as my fuse box,
315
and I have little fans here to kind of add to the circulation back here.
316
Betty has a stroller, my toolbox, all reliable of course.
317
I also have an extra solar panel,
318
an extra power station, and traction boards,
319
which I learned the value of in Vegas when I got stuck in the desert twice.
320
I've got a camping chair and I also have the moonshade awning,
321
which is a removable awning I can put on the side of my van and pull down.
322
That about sums it up.
323
Oh, these?
324
These.
325
Okay, these are one of my proudest build things that I did.
326
This is shatterproof glass.
327
This is made of polycarbonate and it cost me 600 bucks to do this,
328
but essentially now if someone smashes the windows they can't get through.
329
There's also locks here, a lock there.
330
There's going to be thunderbolt locks in the side.
331
No one's getting through these doors or any of my doors.
332
I have gone over the top on security,
333
but I think it was really worth it
334
because I can go to sleep at night and not worry
335
that someone can just shatter that window and my face is on the other side.
336
I think that about sums it up.
337
That's my camper van.
338
It was so hard for me to fit everything I wanted to show you in this one single video,
339
so I hope you caught some of the other movie references I didn't get to mention,
340
like the Hunger Games, Alien,
341
and X-Men cabinet handles, the Eye of Sauron pencil holder,
342
the Cubone flower vase, and I didn't even get to film my Rick
343
and Morty Mr. Meeseeks box or my Pulp Fiction briefcase,
344
so be sure to subscribe because I'm about to take to the road and have so many fun, ridiculous adventures!
