Brett!
98
Whatever it was, it was banging.

It doesn't let you out.

Now, out of the two cuts that are prevalent, the theatrical and the director's cut, I prefer the director's cut.

104
He's pretty good at that, actually.
105
He likes to tinker with his movies, and somehow he's able to do it without pissing off all of his fans, because he understands what should and shouldn't be in a film,
106
even when he's going in to tinker it more.
107
What I love about the director's cut is the obvious additional scene
108
that has Ripley find Dallas and Brett in their cocooned bodies, and he's like, HELP ME!
109
And she, you know, flamethrowers them.
110
Really, really awesome scene.
111
And it also explains where they were.
112
Not that it needs explaining.
113
It's kind of cool to not know where the bodies are.
114
It leaves it more ambiguous, makes the creature feel more terrifying, like what did the creature do with these bodies?
115
But I like the fact that I know, and it's not a very long scene, and I love the look of the scene with the yellow and the orange glow.
116
But my favorite addition in the director's cut is just one shot.
117
It's the first real close-up frame of the alien

when Brett is walking and he's looking for Jones the cat

120
There's no jump scare.
121
In fact, the first time I saw it I just kind of went, is that?
122
Oh shit.
123
And that reaction, you don't get that in monster movies
124
because they always build up the reveal of the creature to this big epic moment with music
125
and he turns around and oh my god
126
and that's how it was in the theatrical exactly like that
127
but in the director's cut Ridley Scott is like no let's
128
just have this this wide shot of it hanging up there
129
it gives me chills it's my favorite additional moment in the
130
director's cut guys I don't have to tell you I adore

139
I've done videos with him before, but he has a particular feeling for Alien 3, and I have a different feeling for Alien 3.
140
And we both want to present a very in-depth, really well researched review of what Alien 3 could have been, what they were trying to make,
141
what we eventually got, the differences between theatrical and the assembly cut,
142
and we I just wanted to present a very kind, respectful debate.
143
Look forward to that, guys.
144
It's coming very soon.
145
