5
So why don't you look at the food pyramid?
6
What's that?
7
Well, let me explain.
8
Hey friends!
9
Hey friends, so in today's episode, let us climb on this nutritional structure we call Food Pyramid.
10
Zoom in!
11
Just like a restaurant's menu shows you what to eat on a cheat day, a Food Pyramid is a visual tool
12
that guides us about the entire healthy food intake that our body requires on a daily basis.
13
It is divided into six food groups in four sections,
14
each group suggesting the nutrition and quantity required for a human body to grow,
15
stay healthy, and function at its best.
16
So let's start from the top and the smallest part of the pyramid consisting of sweets and fats.
17
Though it's the most tempting group on the chart, however food that is high in sugar
18
and fats must be taken only once in a
19
while in smaller quantities as it does not do any good to your health.
20
To know more about it, please check out our video, Is Sugar Bad For You?
21
Afterwards.
22
The second section of the pyramid is further divided into two groups.
23
The one side includes dairy products like milk,
24
yogurt and cheese that are rich in calcium needed for strong bones and teeth.
25
But before deciding to consume milk, we would request you to please check out our video Is milk healthy?
26
Later.
27
And the other side of Section 2 consists of good meat like chicken, turkey, fish and eggs.
28
Most of these dishes are major sources of proteins, zinc and vitamins needed for our growth and development.
29
Hence, it is recommended to have at least one egg every day.
30
Again, to know more, please check out our videos related to minerals and vitamins.
31
Now let's move to the third section which is again divided into two groups.
32
The first group includes most vegetables that are a healthy source of nutrition due to
33
which it is recommended to have around two and a half bowls of vegetables every day.
34
While the other The other group includes tasty fruits like apple,
35
orange, banana, mango etc. That are a natural source of sugar,
36
fiber and vitamins, especially vitamin C.
37
Hence it is suggested to have two bowls of fruits everyday to keep the doctor away.
38
Finally comes the fourth, the base and the biggest section of the food pyramid that includes all grains,
39
lentils, bread, pasta, cereals, chapatis and rice.
40
This is a very important food group as it contains carbohydrates
41
that provide the body with glucose which is converted to energy used to support bodily functions and physical activity.
42
Hence, it is recommended to eat them on a daily basis.
43
So, here we go my friends.
44
Now we know the type of food our body needs the most.
45
But remember, it is always advisable to speak to your doctor before following any diet plan.
46
At the same time, just consuming food won't be enough.
47
So, just make sure to eat at the same time,
48
drink plenty of water and have some physical exercise to stay fit and healthy.
49
Trivia time!
50
Did you know that the very first food pyramid was a Swedish invention?
51
Yes!
52
Back in the 1970s, Sweden saw its country gripped by high food prices.
53
Hence the government asked the National Board of Health and Welfare to come up with a way to help the situation.
54
Hope you learned something new today.
55
Until next time, it's me Dr. Binox, Zooming out.
56
So little kitty, what will you eat according to the food pyramid?
57
Food Pizza?
58
Never mind.
59
Thank you.

关于本课

您正在使用跟读技巧通过视频"FOOD PYRAMID | How Different Foods Affect Your Body | The Dr Binocs Show | Peekaboo Kidz"练习英语口语和发音。
