How to Actually Learn English With Me - 通过视频学习英语口语

1
after helping more than 400 students go from being afraid of making mistakes,
2
being beginner English learners, not even speakers,
3
just learners, to becoming confident English speakers through my English community,
4
I wanted to finally come on YouTube and show you how they did it,
5
how you guys did it.
6
I started teaching English about six years ago.
7
When I first started teaching English,
8
I realized pretty quickly that I wasn't the type of teacher to talk about grammar for an hour.
9
I realized I was a very patient person and that I really don't mind if I have to repeat myself five times,
10
or if it takes someone a little bit longer to find the right word.
11
I actually love that part of teaching.
12
I realized I loved teaching, but I didn't love teaching grammar.
13
I loved helping my students to find their voice in English.
14
I wanted my students talking.
15
So instead of just opening a textbook and saying,
16
okay, today we're going to learn about past tense,
17
I would turn whatever lesson we were learning that day into an actual conversation.
18
That way, learning didn't have to feel like a chore,
19
like something boring or stressful.
20
Why can't we enjoy learning English?
21
And I never wanted a student to feel afraid of making a mistake.
22
I wanted my classroom to be a place where you could try.
23
Because I started realizing that not every student needed an explanation of English.
24
They needed someone patient enough to let them speak.
25
They needed more time to answer while they became better. at speaking.
26
They needed conversations that were actually interesting.
27
And I realized it's something that nobody else was doing.
28
Finding a way to offer an affordable option for people all around the world to start actually speaking English.
29
So that's when I knew what I had to create.
30
I created a space where English learners from all around the world could connect and start speaking English together.
31
And it all started with having conversation clubs with all of my students in the Slow English community.
32
I started having conversations every week with around 15 to 25 members in my community.
33
We would meet once a week and just speak.
34
I got to have fun and spontaneous conversations with students and my followers from all around the world.
35
It was so much fun to see you guys grow in a way that didn't feel like studying or even learning.
36
We were just having conversations the way that I've always taught English in real life and in my videos.
37
After a little while, it was starting to get difficult for me to teach all of my classes,
38
all of the conversation clubs.
39
So then my dad started helping me.
40
He has been an English teacher for a very long time, more than 15 years.
41
And all he did was have engaging,
42
spontaneous, and fun conversations with the community.
43
From topics like languages and accents, to colors and smells.
44
to deeper conversations about love and intelligence.
45
There is no limit of speaking topics in the slow English community.
46
And I remember the first members loved it.
47
They loved it because there was no pressure to speak.
48
There was absolutely no judgment
49
and they got to have fun talking about interesting topics every single day alongside other English learners from all around the world.
50
And when I say all around the world, I mean it.
51
From Mexico to Cambodia, Argentina to Germany,
52
Saudi Arabia to Brazil, the Dominican Republic to Sweden.
53
I mean it everywhere.
54
I'm truly amazed and so proud of this community that we've built together.
55
And the best news you'll hear today is that by the time I post this video,
56
the community will be open.
57
But not for long.
58
The community will close again in seven days.
59
And it won't be opening again for a while.
60
And I do this so that I can control the influx of students
61
and so that I have the chance to meet all of the new members who join.
62
And I love this time of the year
63
when I get to meet all of the English learners that learn with me every single day.
64
So if you're ready to start working towards your dreams of speaking English, then this is the time.
65
So don't wait any longer to be the person that you wish to be.
66
To being the version of yourself that doesn't just talk about their dreams,
67
but the person who actually accomplishes them.
68
I can't wait to see you guys inside.
69
And remember, never stop learning.
70
Bye

  • turn...into an actual conversation:把……
