1
My number one tip for how to memorize is to first memorize as little as possible.
2
What?
3
Hear me out.
4
I studied chemical engineering at Caltech and got A's in all of my organic chemistry classes, which if you don't know, require tons of memorization.
5
So in this video, I'm going to explain number one, but as part of five tips
6
that I actually use to graduate with a 4 .0 while playing varsity sports and sleeping about eight hours a night.
7
Let's go.
8
The main problem that you and most students have is that you think there is so much to memorize, but there's actually only a little bit.
9
What do I mean by that?
10
Well, the thing is, if you have about eight subjects, 10 subjects, you might think, oh, okay, every single one of these classes, I have to memorize all of these math equations,
11
all of these facts, all of these mechanisms and XYZ.
12
Well, of course, it's going to be a ton because you're stacking everything you need to keep in your brain.
13
That's why tip number one to memorize as little as possible is to first maximize the number of things
14
that you can understand and only the remainder are the things that you have to memorize.
15
Here's an example.
16
Maybe you've seen this triangle before where people say, oh just memorize this triangle so then you can better remember the physics equation
17
that speed equals distance over time or that time equals distance over speed.
18
If you just memorize this handy dandy triangle, that's how you can better remember the physics equations.
19
Now you might think, yeah well isn't that the best way to memorize things?
20
You use things like mnemonics, pictures, little tricks with letters instead of words, but here's the thing.
21
When you turn all the things you need to memorize into other versions of things you need to memorize, you're not actually learning and you're still trying to cram all of that information into your head.
22
Now do you have to recall and to memorize how you tie your shoelaces no
23
because you just understand how you do instead for math formulas
24
physics formulas a lot of science all you need to do
25
is to understand why it is the way it is speed
26
represents the amount of distance you can travel given a certain amount of time
27
and that way you can derive the equation simply from understanding what speed is not having to jump through hoops
28
and give yourself additional things to memorize in fact giving yourself these tricks is actually the dumber, slower, and worse way to learn.
29
If you just understand that taking a square root means you're thinking of what number squared equals this number, then you don't have to memorize that the square root of nine is three.
30
You just understand it.
31
If anyone ever gives you this stupid triangle thing or any other thing to memorize something that you can just understand, please slap some sense into them.
32
And the easiest way to understand something, see it.
33
You can replay your favorite movie scenes in your head, but you can't recall what page 47 of your textbook looks like your brain holds on to visuals
34
and that's why i hated reading walls of text
35
because there's nothing for me to grab onto that's why i love gamma today's sponsor
36
and i can't even count how many times we've worked together now
37
so thanks again to you
38
and to gamma gamma turns information into visual slides super easy with diagrams
39
and bullets that break everything up instead of paragraphs that blur together
40
and here's what's new and super cool
41
that i have not talked about before with gamma they just launched something
42
that saves me so many steps and will save you
43
so much time too
44
and no it's not learning for you it's not taking creativity
45
away from you it is helping you do the busy work
46
so you can get the slides made
47
and then all you focus on is the actual studying
48
and using your brain and the new thing is connectors for claude
49
and chat gpt i personally run so many tedious tasks within claude
50
And I also use Claude to learn things faster because just like a tutor, I can ask Claude a question, Claude says something, then I ask follow -up questions and we have a conversation back and forth.
51
Now, when I'm asking Claude to explain the things I don't understand, in that same chat, I can ask Claude to pull my notes from my notion
52
or I can drag in some text from a textbook.
53
I then turn them into a visual study guide in Gamma.
54
Within just a few seconds, a full set of slides shows up.
55
And guess what?
56
I never had to leave Claude to make this it's super convenient
57
because when i learn something new then in
58
that same chat i tell claude and the slides
59
and gamma update with me so
60
if you're a student in 2026 the biggest advantage you can give yourself is
61
if you use tools like this as if it's a private tutor
62
that you can access 24 7 with gamma you can stop rereading walls of text
63
and just hoping that they stick instead you can give your brain something
64
that it can actually picture
65
and thus understand you can try out gamma today to memorize i mean understand better at gamma .app
66
or with the link down below even though the best way
67
to remember something is to understand it sometimes we do need to brute force memorize things like vocabulary
68
and that is why tip two is to empty your trash imagine files on your computer you're using it
69
and then suddenly it glitches it airs out
70
because there's no memory left no matter how hard you try you cannot shove in more things
71
and your computer starts to malfunction.
72
It starts to forget things.
73
It starts to not save things.
74
That computer is your brain.
75
It has limited capacity, both long -term and short -term.
76
To keep things in your brain long -term, it has to go into short -term first.
77
So raise your hand, be honest, guys, and leave a comment down below if you follow any celebrity, any kind of pop culture news.
78
Think of a fact you know about your favorite celebrity right now.
79
Let me know down below if you understand what the heck 6 '7 means, because I've been hearing it around.
80
I still don't understand it or if you know what terms like mog
81
and all those other things on the internet mean you remembered those didn't you
82
so whenever you browse unnecessary things celebrity drama short form reading
83
anything unhelpful you are stuffing your brain with trash pushing out this long -term memory your brain is now
84
so full of the distractions that you succumb itself to every day
85
when you're on your devices
86
that of course is not going to have room for the less exciting things like your Spanish vocabulary.
87
That is why in the CEO method I always talk about, the first step is see cut because that creates capacity.
88
Related to that, tip three is to stop shrinking your brain as well.
89
Studies by the National Library of Medicine show that heavy social media users are becoming less able to ignore distractions.
90
Well, that's not surprising.
91
That's nothing new.
92
These efforts to stay focused can ultimately shrink parts of the
93
brain used for concentration a change known as neuroplasticity can you believe
94
that you are shrinking your brain brain rot is actually real
95
but here's the sad thing you probably already knew this
96
but you're still doing
97
that every single day it's like you look up videos for how to memorize
98
and then at the same time you're making it harder for
99
your brain to do these things then it makes videos like this
100
and any tips less helpful because you're giving yourself a disadvantage in the first place.
101
If you just cut that disadvantage and not shrink your brain, that would be more effective than any little tips stacked together.
102
I'm not here to scold you.
103
I'm not even mad because here's the thing.
104
You're not shrinking my brain.
105
You're not affecting my life.
106
You're affecting yours.
107
See, this is why the only person who can change your life
108
and to save yourself is yourself
109
because there is no other person who should care more about your life or your brain or your body than yourself.
110
And that starts with you having awareness so you can actually change because here's the thing, you don't want to be average.
111
If you are like the average person scrolling all day, taking it even to the restroom, which is gross, then of course you're going to have a bad memory.
112
Just ask yourself, do you want to be like everyone else?
113
Do you want to have the memory of a goldfish?
114
Do you find it satisfying to go talk to someone
115
and then they're like oh yeah my brain's rotting
116
and you're like yeah me too just because your friend is scrolling
117
and sends you a reel doesn't mean you have to do it too
118
or go get some better friends be even friendless
119
that would be better too you can be better than
120
that you are better than
121
that it's time you start treating your life like the most important thing in the world
122
because it is and so that's why this part i get very fired up about
123
because you know tips are useless
124
if you're making your brain not even be able to work
125
properly i don't want to see you asking how to memorize things again until you've deleted all your social media.
126
Then you have the right to ask
127
because you've actually done the number one thing that will help your grades and your life.
128
You know what?
129
Let's take this time to do it together.
130
I'll wait.
131
Delete them right now.
132
Comment down below when you've done it and we'll all cheer each other on
133
because we're all here trying to grow and get better together.
134
Cool.
135
Now tip four is to bombard yourself.
136
So funny that I named it this
137
because you were just bombarding yourself with social media and scrolling
138
but now I'm telling you to bombard yourself with the facts you're actually trying to remember.
139
Tip four means you're bombarding yourself.
140
It's kind of like a tongue twister.
141
You're bombarding yourself with the things you want to remember, both spatially and temporally.
142
I should use simpler words, but if you memorize vocabulary and did tip five, then you would know what those mean.
143
Anyway, tip four means you want to fill your space and your time with the things you want to memorize.
144
So number one, your space add sticky notes everywhere you know on your mirror
145
while you're brushing your teeth so you look at those vocabulary words
146
or the history facts you need to remember add a screenshot of biology terms to your phone lock screen
147
so every time you pull your phone the first thing you see is oh yeah I need to memorize
148
that biology stuff you take a look and oh
149
that way you leverage boredom whenever you get a chance you scroll
150
but instead when you open your phone
151
because those social media apps are not there anymore you see
152
the vocab the second way you bombard yourself is with little review sessions throughout a day
153
or throughout a week not in one giant session you've probably already heard
154
that spaced repetition is way more effective for studying
155
because your brain takes time to encode that new information so
156
that the next time you review it it encodes even stronger
157
and stronger and stronger and so that's why you need to bombard yourself with this studying multiple times
158
throughout a day periodically spread the information you need to memorize throughout your environment
159
and within your calendar tip number five is to apply it
160
and leverage muscle memory if it's vocabulary start using it in your own writing
161
and speaking until it becomes second nature
162
that of course you would remember what it means if it's something
163
that happened in history maybe relate it back to some experience you recently had in your life
164
if you draw these connections it's a lot easier to recall it
165
because humans remember stories up to 22 times more than facts on their own
166
and the second part to this is muscle memory
167
so in organic chemistry i would have to again memorize a lot of mechanisms
168
and drawings so what did i do i just redrew the same drawing the same mechanism over
169
and over again thinking about it each time and
170
that way i committed it to my muscle memory now it's like second nature to draw a carbon molecule simply
171
because i've done it so many times the more you practice using
172
that math equation using
173
that vocabulary using whatever you're trying to remember the more it
174
feels like you're not even trying to remember it you're just practicing
175
and applying and that's how it becomes more fun as well
176
because you have to remember
177
that the point of school is not to shove a bunch
178
of facts in your brain like literally ai can tell you
179
everything nowadays with everything i share in my videos it might
180
seem like it's about all how to do well in school
181
but it's all about the deeper meaning of how it applies to your life
182
because here's the thing school isn't supposed to just be shoving knowledge
183
and facts into your brain you have google for
184
that you can ask claude or chachi bt anything
185
and they know way more than you
186
so why would you spend 12 years in school trying to compete with an ai bot
187
that you can never beat instead it's about understanding it's about
188
how you can apply it to your own life it's about how you can improve your skills
189
so you can be a valuable asset to yourself and so that you can attract the right job opportunities in the future.
190
You can speak to that successful person you want to impress.
191
Always think about the deeper meaning of when you're doing something in school
192
because school could be a waste of your time
193
or you can use it as something that makes you better and gives you a better life.
194
Remember to check out Gama so then you can create your own visuals and understand, not memorize.
195
Comment down below your favorite tip and maybe one that you've already been using.
196
And let us know if you've also deleted your social media apps.
197
Thanks so much.
198
Remember to own your life or someone else will.
199
Thanks, and I will see you at the top.

影子跟读练习技巧

视频语速中等,语调自然,适合进行英语影子跟读训练。以下是具体建议:

  • 先完整观看视频,理解内容后再开始跟读。重点模仿演讲者清晰的逻辑重音,如“maximize the number of things that you can understand”中“maximize”和“understand”的强调语气。
  • 针对长句,如“When you turn all the things you need to memorize into other versions of things you need to memorize, you're not actually learning”,可拆分句子结构,逐段跟读,注意从句的停顿与连接。
  • 结合视频中的可视化学习理念,边跟读边想象演讲者描述的“三角形记忆法”“可视化幻灯片”等场景,增强语言与图像的关联,提升记忆效果。
  • 利用视频中的对话式内容,如“Claude says something, then I ask follow - up questions”,练习英语口语中的互动表达,为雅思口语练习积累自然的交流句式。

I've been hearing · you've already been using
现在完成时 have/has + 过去分词 — 过去发生但与现在仍有关联的事you've seen · we've worked · have not talked
定语从句 who / which + 从句 — 补充说明人或事物person who can · person who should · restroom, which is
