good morning it's not getting any easier per se gonna need some of this doesn't feel right
2
that doesn't feel that doesn't it doesn't feel right
3
hi friends how are ya welcome back to my channel for a video
4
that is very different from what i have ever done
5
but i've always wanted to do i might regret it later in the week
6
but i I am going to try a 5 a.m morning routine for a whole week to see how it goes,
7
see if I like it,
8
see if I hate it.
9
I consider myself a morning person.
10
I love, I love the morning time.
11
It's my time alone.
12
My husband, Brooke, goes to bed late and kind of sleeps in.
13
So like those morning hours are my time and it's when my brain functions the best.
14
So obviously would love to have more hours in the morning
15
and really like maximize it and see how I could start off my day on the best foot possible.
16
But also, your girl loves sleep.
17
I actually probably average nine hours of sleep a night.
18
I have to have at least eight or else I am just like a grumpy butthole.
19
My main hesitancy is will I be able to get to bed early enough to make this worth it?
20
I don't know.
21
I don't know.
22
So this next week I'm going to take you along.
23
We're going to see how it works and try different things in the mornings,
24
whether it be just working or maybe practicing some gratitude
25
or journaling or maybe even like doing a little workout in the morning.
26
We're just going to experiment.
27
So I'm very excited to take you along for this journey kind of vlog style.
28
And without further ado, let's cut to Monday and begin our Monday through Friday journey.
29
What if the world had more of your smile?
30
What if the wind could spread your love?
31
What if your sweetness could reach everyone?
32
There'd be no wars, mmm.
33
Good morning.
34
It is day one of this.
35
I'm realizing how much my body naturally wakes up with the sun,
36
and it is definitely not light outside yet.
37
I went to bed last night at 9.32 to try to get all of my sleep in.
38
I was worried I wouldn't be able to fall asleep,
39
but I fell asleep immediately, so that's great.
40
but then I woke up at 2 a.m because I had to pee
41
and I realized Brooke wasn't asleep yet
42
so I like in my sleepy mind panicked
43
because he wasn't in his office
44
and was like oh my gosh something happened to him he was just in the bathroom
45
but that was enough to like wake my brain completely up
46
and I didn't fall back asleep till 3 40 I think was the last time I looked at the clock
47
so that was rough so we'll see how that goes
48
but it is very early made my coffee
49
and I think the way I want to do this is
50
try like one new intentional thing each morning to see what
51
I like see what I want to keep see what sticks I keep realizing the importance of gratitude
52
and everything I really believe if you're grateful and if you find things to be grateful in life
53
you will be a more joyful person
54
and just be content with wherever you are with whatever's going on
55
and I think
56
that is the secret to success in life is just being grateful for where you're at not necessarily accomplishing things
57
or you know having status or money or whatever and these are things I need to remind my Enneagram 3 mind.
58
So I got my journal self plug this is my summer mornings notebook
59
if you guys haven't seen this is one of my products for my brand it is half
60
grid pages and it is half blank pages and is currently for sale at summer-mornings.com.
61
I'm going to Google some gratitude prompts and try journaling.
62
Normally the first thing I do is grab my computer.
63
This morning I'm going to do that and then I'm going to plan out my goals.
64
This is a new journal I got actually in a PR box from Cozy Earth.
65
So not their product at all and and I love it.
66
It has you divide your tasks by most important,
67
two second more important, and then two remaining.
68
And then it has you time block, and it's really cool.
69
So I'm going to prioritize my day with that and see how I feel once it's all over.
70
Max and I are now officially getting work done and I feel like I have been up forever and it's 6.35.
71
That's a weird feeling.
72
Okay, day one thoughts.
73
It's 8.30 a.m.
74
I ordered groceries.
75
They just arrived.
76
Did a full shower where I like washed my hair, shaved everything got everything done on my virtual to-do list,
77
brainstormed video ideas, posted a TikTok,
78
which I literally never do,
79
but I'm gonna start doing more.
80
And I've basically done everything I need to do for the day that is not filming,
81
but I do have a lot of filming things I need to do later today.
82
My one complaint is at 5 a.m there's not many emails to respond to,
83
so I wish I could have gotten that done.
84
So I think today I'm gonna be very lax on responding to emails.
85
So in the morning I can just like batch them
86
and get them done when I'm like ready and eager in the morning.
87
But I am tired, probably because I woke up at 2 a.m.
88
So conflicting thoughts, but day one, check.
89
Good morning.
90
It's day two of this.
91
I took a while to get out of bed this morning
92
because last night I hosted a bowling night for my girls bible study and it didn't go that late.
93
I mean I left at like 10
94
so I got home like 10 15 was asleep by 11
95
but still a lot later than I intended to for this experiment
96
so waking up was hard this morning as this morning's like
97
intentional thing i thought it sounded really nice just to be
98
outside to uh kind of start my work day watching the
99
world wake up it's actually once you're out here a lot lighter than it feels
100
when you're inside so that's cool
101
and there is just something special about being outside before anybody
102
else is out here none of the kids in the neighborhood are up yet.
103
That feels nice because they're usually really loud.
104
So I got my coffee,
105
I got my computer, and I got a blanket because it's 64 degrees right now.
106
It's not that cold, but it's a little chilly.
107
And I'm gonna make my to-do list and get on my day.
108
Ah, it is now officially 7.30 and look who's here!
109
The sun!
110
It is cool to like watch the world change as the sun wakes up, you know?
111
it's 7 30 and yet again I've finished all my computer work
112
and I have a 10 a.m chiropractic consult
113
so can't really film anything for the day till after that
114
so I'm like what do I do with the next two
115
and a half hours I could work out
116
but I didn't have it on my calendar
117
so I don't want to probably shower and get ready
118
but day two success feeling a little bit sleepy loved being
119
outdoors can't wait to see how my opinions change throughout the week the Sun feels good
120
It's a nice little kiss on the cheek.
121
Close your eyes.
122
Good morning.
123
Here's the thing.
124
Something interesting happened.
125
It's actually up a little bit before five this morning because Brooke got up to go golfing before work.
126
And that literally never happens ever.
127
I normally wake up like between 7 and 8
128
and he normally wakes up around 10
129
so I never get the bed in the morning
130
and before I was married I would love waking up in the morning
131
and getting back into bed with my coffee
132
and doing a little bit of work so that's what I'm gonna do
133
but my intentional thing this morning is I booked a 7 a.m pilates class
134
which sounds really early to work out I don't like working
135
out in the morning I really don't I went through a phase where I would go to like 6 a.m cycling classes.
136
My brain is good in the morning.
137
My body needs a while, you know?
138
But I'm gonna see how I feel,
139
because it's been a long time since I've done an early morning workout,
140
meaning I need to leave here at 6.30.
141
So I can really only get a little bit of work done this morning before I have to get ready and go.
142
But that's our plan.
143
That's our little experiment of the day let's do it well it's 6 30
144
and I'm about to leave doesn't feel right it doesn't feel it doesn't just don't feel right
145
nothing says good morning like the Sun right in your face
146
but you know I'm glad I tried that because I confirmed I don't like freaking out early.
147
I sat up after one stretch and out of nowhere I had a really bad headache.
148
It's going away but my body's just not used to it.
149
I prefer definitely later in the day
150
but I treated myself to a unsweetened oat matcha latte from lavender
151
and honey which is like a really cute little space here.
152
Apparently, I'm sorry I can't look at you.
153
Apparently they have great toast.
154
Obviously I can't try that but this is really good.
155
my eyes I'm really making up
156
good morning we made it to day four i woke up
157
my body's like waking up right at five being like your alarm's probably about to go off
158
but at the same time like not ready to wake up so i woke up at five,
159
but I kind of like laid in bed and just stared at the wall until 5.30.
160
Still counts, still was up.
161
It's not getting any easier per se,
162
and I think that I have a little bit of a headache just from a change in schedule,
163
so like abruptly and rapidly,
164
and I figured as my intentional thing this morning,
165
typically what I do is I go to bed at night,
166
and Brooke and I pray together,
167
and then I read a devotional before I go to bed
168
and I was like I never do this in the morning
169
so instead of even a devotional I just grabbed straight up
170
bible gonna be honest never read this I always just use my phone the app
171
but I figured this could be a good way to like
172
unplug a little bit read a little bit of this before I get on to work
173
and I do have actually a lot of emails to get to this morning Whenever I have a lot to do,
174
I feel very motivated.
175
So I am feeling very motivated to get that done,
176
to have a good day,
177
because I have a very,
178
very, very busy day ahead with doctor's appointments,
179
meetings, events, and a video that I have to record,
180
and Pilates, and therapy.
181
A lot.
182
I know it's nothing new,
183
but it's so good to see you.
184
So update, it's 7.30.
185
I made the lighting much cozier in here because when you wake up in the morning,
186
the bright lights are like, whoa.
187
But it's starting to get light outside,
188
although it's a hazy day.
189
And I did all of my work and then some
190
that I plan to do this morning before I head out for appointments and such.
191
So it's been a really good chill morning
192
and can't wait to wrap up this video
193
and give you all my final thoughts
194
because there's some things I love about an early morning routine and some things that I'm not about.
195
It's been a really fun learning experience,
196
but starting my day off with a little bit of Jesus I think was really good for the soul.
197
So that might be something that I have to incorporate more often.
198
Good morning.
199
It's day five.
200
It's Friday.
201
Full confession.
202
This morning when my alarm went off at five,
203
I was like, Mikael, it's the last day.
204
Why don't we like snooze for 20 minutes?
205
My body was like, no, it's five.
206
We get up now.
207
It is like extra dark this morning.
208
I don't know lie, very, very dark.
209
And so the intentional thing I want to try this morning is doing like some stretching outside.
210
I used to stretch every single day and I was very good about it.
211
And I've just gotten worse about it.
212
And I feel so much better when I stretch.
213
So I thought that'd be a nice way to get some fresh air and move my body a little bit.
214
But when it's pitch black outside,
215
I'm convinced my yard is full of coyotes.
216
So what I'm going to do is respond to emails for the next hour and then probably 6,
217
6.30 going out there and stretch.
218
And also I will have my emails done by that point.
219
So I will feel very mentally free and clear.
220
That's the plan.
221
Cheers to coffee.
222
Can't believe I actually woke up at 5am all the days.
223
Wow.
224
Had low expectations for myself.
225
Wow.
226
It feels so nice out here.
227
I actually did a couple hours of work I was on a roll.
228
It is 7 18 and I realized I'm in like the least convenient pajamas to stretch
229
but I don't want to go back into our bedroom
230
and wake up Brooke but I got my yoga mat
231
and I pulled it outside
232
and it just it just feels really great outside like very
233
calming peaceful happy since I'm in little strappy pajamas I'm just going to do very minimal stretching
234
but just being intentional about getting some fresh air
235
and kind of waking up my body a little bit I
236
think is a good I think it's a good thing to do in the morning.
237
Why don't I do this?
238
Windows wide the curtains fly to catch the evening breeze without you here to keep me warm Believe I'd rather free
239
Believe I'd rather free Okay,
240
so it's been five days of waking up at 5 a.m.
241
What am I thinking?
242
How am I feeling?
243
Feeling a little tired, not gonna lie.
244
Normally around like 9 to 10,
245
I'm like, oh my gosh,
246
I've already been up five hours and I am exhausted.
247
I also think it's kind of ironic that tomorrow morning,
248
Saturday morning, I will also be waking up at 5 a.m
249
because my parents are actually visiting me
250
and we are going to go watch surfers in Malibu and try to get there by six.
251
so I'm well prepared.
252
The things I love, the things I didn't love.
253
In terms of just waking up at 5 a.m.,
254
I love the fact that I have so many hours of peace and quiet by myself.
255
I love the fact that my brain personally works best in the morning,
256
and I love the peace of mind the night before when I'm like,
257
I will have five whole hours before I have to do anything to catch up on things.
258
So I go to bed feeling a lot more at peace.
259
Things I don't love is not getting the normal amount of sleep that I normally get.
260
I get a lot of sleep.
261
I have a lot of different health issues and I truly believe
262
that me getting extra sleep is what helps me to function
263
and at least seem like a normal person amongst all of my different autoimmune diseases.
264
So I don't think I can sacrifice my like nine to 10 hours of sleep.
265
Main reason why I'm not ready to have kids.
266
And also the days that I did not have a lot of admin computer work
267
and the days that I mostly just have filming stuff,
268
I really didn't have a lot I could do with those hours in the morning
269
because I have to wait until lighting is good to film anyways.
270
I would say I will continue to wake up early on the days
271
that I have a lot of like traditional work to get done,
272
but the days that I'm mostly just content creating,
273
it doesn't really make sense for me.
274
I'm going to stick with waking up like 7 30 ish.
275
Seems to work really well.
276
In terms of the intentional things I tried every morning,
277
I loved basically everything except for going to a workout class.
278
My body just doesn't love working out in the morning.
279
I know I talked about that,
280
but I did really like journaling,
281
reading the Bible, stretching outside,
282
and what was the fourth thing I did?
283
Can't even remember, but I remember thinking that I liked everything besides working out.
284
Overall, I think I will bring some of these gratitude
285
and intentionality things into my mornings to start my day off on the right track,
286
but I'm not going to feel pressured to do everything that like a morning routine requires,
287
if that makes sense, but it was a good experiment.
288
I'm probably gonna take a nap now.
289
Can't wait to watch this back and see how that went
290
but nevertheless thank you so much for spending this week with me,
291
these early mornings with me,
292
and probably a lot of time with me with my morning hair and makeup-less self.
293
So I love y'all so much.
294
I just wanted to do more of these like try videos
295
so if there's anything else you want me to try whether it's like a week of something
296
or ordering something I don't know let me know in the comments down below.
297
I think that these are a lot of fun.
298
I love you with my whole heart.
299
I hope you have the best rest of your day and I will see you in a video very soon.
300
Bye.
301
So give me a sign.
302
Give me a sign.
303
Oh, give me a sign.
304
Baby, give me a sign.
305
Just give me one more.
306
Talking to you.
307
Here we go again.
308
Staying up.
309
I'm not to see if you've been texting me.
310
Where do we go from here?
311
I want to go.
