Do you know what a tundra is?

It's a very cold, windy and dry place.

Sometimes the ground is all covered with snow and ice.

This makes it really hard for plants to grow. But guess what?

There are some tough plants that can live here.

You might find grasses, squishy mosses, and even small plants.

When spring and summer come, these little plants surprise us with pretty, colorful flowers.

Even in a chilly place like a tundra, flowers can bloom.

Not many animals can stay in a tundra all year, it's just too cold.

Some animals go to warmer places when it's very cold and come back when it gets warmer.

But there are animals like the big polar bear, the reindeer with their large antlers,

the fast snow hairs, and clever foxes that make the tundra their home.

So even though it's cold, the tundra is full of life.
