1
Last summer I did something different.
2
I wanted to take my van on a long road trip.
3
So I packed my bags,
4
looked at an old map and left with the only goal of having fun.
5
I wanted to see it all from the mountains in the
6
Alps to the little coastal towns to the melting glaciers and also the missing ones.
7
So I guess this is what happens when you have no plans and there's a whole continent to explore.
8
Anyway, I left Portugal in early July,
9
and my first stop was a beautiful national park in the north of Spain,
10
called Picos de Europa.
11
I just made it to a town called Rianho, which is behind me.
12
I think this is like the beginning of the national park.
13
Oh my god, it's really exceeding my expectations.
14
I've driven across Spain quite a few times.
15
It's your only option when you live in the westernmost country of Europe.
16
But each time I've managed to find new places and this was no exception.
17
That over there on the other side of the river, that is France.
18
We are about to cross to a new country.
19
Let's go.
20
we made it to France oh god this is the exact
21
same spot where I crossed the border last year during my bike trip
22
so if you watch that video you'll know that there's no signs telling you you made it to France but yeah
23
this region is so incredibly touristy
24
it's kind of impossible to do anything because there's
25
so many people everywhere I think I'm just gonna drive past all these coastal towns.
26
As tempting as it was to explore the coast,
27
I ended up driving towards inland.
28
The roads were empty and there were so many villages to explore.
29
We're going inside a castle.
30
Oh my god.
31
All our children know They're taking the high road After spending a few days on the road,
32
I made it to Paris.
33
The idea was to meet up with my friend Jules and convince her to join me for a couple weeks.
34
Luckily, she agreed, so together we decided to drive east, towards Strasbourg.
35
This trip was actually only possible thanks to Quadlock.
36
They have the perfect phone case for your next adventure.
37
Recently they came up with the new mag cases,
38
which have magnets on them,
39
so instead of having to twist and lock,
40
it just snaps into place.
41
The cool thing is that it is compatible with wireless charging,
42
so by connecting the charger to the car socket,
43
you get a wireless charger in your car,
44
which I think is pretty cool.
45
Obviously, they offer all sorts of mounts and cases,
46
so if you'd like to grab one,
47
make sure you check the link in the description to get 10% off on any purchase.
48
Again, thank you QuadLog for sponsoring this video,
49
and now let's go to the Alps!
50
I'm so glad I decided to come to the Alps
51
because I've always wanted to come here during summer seeing the snow up there and using just a shirt outside.
52
I don't know.
53
I think it's a cool combination.
54
me It's been black and needs to change let's restart
55
This is dinner, it's just here
56
Are you laughing I I wish we had a stove, but we don't.
57
It's funny how a tent,
58
some boring sandwiches, and a cold night in the mountains can make you feel so alive.
59
I had no plans when I left home.
60
I didn't know what I was looking for.
61
But I feel like this was in fact the very essence of what I was seeking.
62
But anyway, after spending some time in the French Alps,
63
we made it to a new country.
64
Switzerland, here we go.
65
There's the flag.
66
As we crossed the border,
67
we heard about a little cabin lost in the mountains.
68
So after doing some research, we found some clues.
69
Okay, if my guess is correct,
70
this should be the place.
71
And the cabin should be somewhere over there.
72
Which seems like a pretty short hike.
73
I'm pretty sure we can get there in less than two hours so let's go
74
Can somebody tell me if these are Edelweiss?
75
Because I wanted to see them,
76
but I'm not sure if this is Ed.
77
I think they're dead There it is!
78
And I'm pretty sure there is nobody there.
79
Here it is!
80
Oh no!
81
It's locked!
82
Can you read what it says here?
83
Oh, there's a lock here.
84
So maybe the keys are inside.
85
Okay, so it might be possible there's a number here.
86
I'm just gonna try to message them.
87
Yes, it is possible.
88
Yay!
89
Yes.
90
Yes.
91
Yes.
92
Yes.
93
Whoa.
94
Oh, it's so cozy already.
95
Oh, the smell.
96
It smells like a sauna.
97
Yeah.
98
It's like a fairy tale.
99
Yeah.
100
Maybe it's not from the outside.
101
Oh.
102
Very good.
103
Oh.
104
It smells like a sauna.
105
Yeah.
106
It's like a fairy tale.
107
Yeah.
108
Maybe it's not from the outside.
109
There he is.
110
Oh, there's light.
111
Wow.
112
Can't believe it.
113
What do you think of this view?
114
Meh.
115
After spending almost a month in the Alps and hiking a bunch of different trails,
116
we were longing for a good swim.
117
So the next morning we left in search of that.
118
Eventually, we left Switzerland and drove all the way to Venice,
119
which was so much fun to explore.
120
Look what we have here.
121
Oh, what is it in Italy?
122
Of course.
123
After spending so much time in nature,
124
it felt good being in a touristy spot and trying every ice cream shop we could.
125
Unfortunately, Jules' holiday was coming to an end,
126
so after spending almost four weeks together, we said goodbye.
127
And as for me, I decided to continue on my own and drive further south.
128
Honestly, I think coastlines are overrated.
129
I think I've done that mistake myself.
130
But you just need to drive a little bit inland to find spots like this one with no one.
131
I have spent the whole morning here and I haven't seen a single person
132
nobody really cares about my van the police is not coming
133
and yeah I don't really know why people are
134
so obsessed with the coastline and I'm not just talking about Croatia I'm talking about coastlines in general
135
I think it's much nicer to be in a spot like this than being on a crowded beach somewhere.
136
So I think I'm going to spend the whole day here.
137
It's very nice and the water is so cold.
138
Obviously, after saying that, I drove towards the shore.
139
And I'm happy to report that it's still possible to find some empty beaches.
140
Also, as I spent time alone, time was slowing down.
141
And since I was not in a rush,
142
I decided to take a ferry to go explore one of the many islands along the coast.
143
I cannot believe that I'm here all alone!
144
What?
145
And the water is so blue.
146
Look at this.
147
Life on the island was amazing,
148
there's not much else you can ask for.
149
But after a while I was starting to miss the people that I would like to share it with.
150
So after giving it some thought,
151
I decided it was time to go.
152
morning I'm about to board a ferry to go back to Italy which means I'm officially on my way back home.
153
Even though leaving Croatia was a bit sad,
154
I was excited for the last leg of the road trip.
155
So after crossing the Adriatic Sea,
156
I arrived to the south of Italy,
157
and my first stop was Matera,
158
where they filmed a James Bond movie.
159
I'm having breakfast with this view.
160
Wow.
161
It definitely lived up to my expectations.
162
And as the sun was still shining and the views were good,
163
I decided to stay for a few days.
164
After all, I was trying to enjoy the ride back home.
165
This is just an old cistern and it's humongous.
166
It had capacity for 5 million liters of water, which is mind-blowing.
167
And it's pretty cool inside.
168
I kept on driving west,
169
and eventually I made it to the Amalfi Coast,
170
where I found some of the sketchiest roads of the whole trip.
171
And to be honest, I'm still not sure how I managed to park my van there.
172
I'm swimming in Positano.
173
Well, it was definitely cool to see it in person,
174
but it was so packed that instead I decided to go try the best pizza in the world.
175
Look at this!
176
That looks so good!
177
so good
178
I can confirm those were indeed the best pizzas I've ever had in my life
179
and I still have some leftovers for dinner
180
As I drove across Italy,
181
the trip slowly came to an end,
182
and after spending over three months on the road,
183
the idea of going back home felt right.
184
We are back in France!
185
I didn't know what to expect from a trip like this.
186
Driving over 12,000 kilometers across 10 different countries while eating outside every day
187
and going for the most beautiful sunset swims really makes you feel like you're making the most of it.
188
You might call me crazy,
189
but if waking up in the morning and peeing out of your van isn't the best feeling in the world,
190
I don't know what is.
191
Back in Spain!
192
And so after spending 105 days on the road,
193
I made it back home.
194
And honestly, I couldn't have asked for more.
195
guitar solo
196
And so now I ask you,
197
what's your next adventure going to be?
198
I hope you don't let it pass by,
199
because life is short and there's plenty of time to be dead.

  • „I wanted to see it all“: Diese Struktur zeigt den vergangenen Wunsch und vermittelt eine klare Vorstellung von Zielen und Absichten.
  • „I just made it to a town called Rianho“: Hier wird eine einfache Vergangenheitsform verwendet, um aktuelle Erfahrungen zu teilen. Solche Sätze sind ideal, um über persönliche Erlebnisse zu sprechen.
  • „the idea was to meet up with my friend“: Diese Konstruktion demonstriert Ziele und Planungen in der Vergangenheit, die im Gespräch nützlich sind.
