1
a few weeks ago i was recording a video and i said
2
that i was going to teach you some kitchen vocabulary
3
but i don't want to do it on my own
4
so you might add my mum hello and welcome to my kitchen
5
and in today's video we're going to learn lots of vocabulary around the kitchen
6
and ask each other a few little questions at the same time so mum are you ready i am
7
so as you can see this is our kitchen now let's explain it bit by bit piece by piece
8
so this is the induction hob
9
and underneath here is the extractor fan it's very noisy
10
so it's not on obviously these are oven gloves
11
and i'm putting them on here we can see not one
12
but two ovens and you use oven gloves to open an oven door
13
and grab a baking tray for example that way you don't get burnt
14
because it can be hot be careful
15
but mum why do you have two ovens well
16
because I like to entertain a lot sometimes it's just casual
17
but I like a lot of family and friends
18
and one oven wasn't enough I was just juggling things in
19
and out so when we had the kitchen redone we went for two this is a toaster
20
and this is a bread bin to keep your bread fresh
21
so this is a wooden chopping board with a bread knife and this is to make toasted sandwiches
22
mmm toasted sandwiches sounds delicious embarrassingly i do have a reputation for liking things to be very neat
23
and allotted so everything is labeled okay so we have the colander
24
so this is a colander and this is kind of like a colander as well
25
but i tend to use it on top of a pan to steam my vegetables that's a poaching eggs
26
which i'm notoriously bad at but hey so yes how exciting my pots
27
and pans now i'm holding two frying pans we've got a big one
28
that we don't seem to use a lot
29
because it looks brand new then we've got this smaller one
30
which we must use quite a lot because it's a bit scruffy
31
and it's got scratches on the end
32
but yeah these are non -stick frying pans in this cupboard we have some plates a couple of bowls
33
and some kitchen roll
34
and in this cupboard we have the glasses we have glasses just for drinking like water
35
and fruit juice and we have the wine glasses you might think
36
that two ovens is more than enough but we also have a microwave which you can open and heat up your food.
37
I'm going to close it now and here we have the thing that is all the rage.
38
Everybody is obsessed with air fryers
39
so we have an air fryer as well to fry food without actually using a lot of oil
40
so it's kind of healthy.
41
My mum likes to have a place for everything so here we have some pulses pasta rice all sorts and here
42
we've got even more stuff so this is a potato masher to make mashed potato
43
which we love with some gravy and this is a stick blender
44
if we're making things like soups this is a kettle
45
and in here we have some tea bags next up we have the dishwasher
46
and it's empty and it is spotless it's immaculate it's
47
so clean when you have dirty dishes you load the dishwasher
48
and when they're clean you unload the dishwasher all of that using dishwasher tablets and look even these are labelled.
49
So if I'm actually washing up, we have the sinks.
50
I like to use a washing up bowl.
51
There's the tap, the dish drainer and a nice eco -friendly scourer.
52
This is the worktop, a quartz worktop and now I'm opening a drawer.
53
Look what's here we have spoons forks and knives
54
and here we have some scissors this is an ice cream
55
scoop here we have a garlic crusher this is a can opener
56
here we have a corkscrew and a bottle opener these are tongs
57
and finally this is a serving spoon my mum does cook quite a lot
58
and i think she's a really good cook that's why here we have even more pans
59
and look they're shiny so clean so you can see my reflection
60
when cooking don't forget to season your food here we have salt
61
and pepper mills and liquid gold olive oil extra virgin olive oil
62
and this is the coffee corner there you have some coffee beans
63
and this grinds the coffee beans and here you have the coffee machine.
64
My dad's in charge of that and he honestly is a coffee connoisseur.
65
He's an expert and his espresso is to die for.
66
But if he's not around or if he's not up yet then this is the simple, easy and maybe quicker option.
67
I've shown you a little bit of the food bread pasta
68
but where's the fresh stuff in the fruit bowl we have some bananas
69
but here we have the integrated fridge
70
and the integrated freezer we've got some milk almond milk orange juice we've got some hummus butter soup soup,
71
cherry tomatoes, pesto, eggs, pasta, ham, carrots, a little bit of everything.
72
And in the freezer, what have we got here?
73
Ooh, some ice cream.
74
Very nice.
75
And we have some frozen bread rolls or BAPs, we sometimes called them.
76
So you might think, I don't have a washing machine, but actually in here, the utility room,
77
we have a washing machine and behind here we have a tumble dryer.
78
Now you're looking at a wine rack with some red wine and I believe there's a bit of champagne here and Prosecco.
79
so this is the dining table and the chairs
80
and this little one is my grandson so
81
if you're to eat out it's worth saying please can we book a high chair
82
and you can keep them in there and they're safe
83
so there you have pretty much every detail of my mum and dad's kitchen but
84
mum has it always been like this um it used to actually be separate
85
and we have the wall knocked down i just found that
86
because i had a lot of people gathered around the table
87
and we were all sitting a bit like this and squeezing in
88
so i just wanted it to just be more spacious more
89
comfortable for everybody i do i just i just like to get family around
90
so that's me perfect well mum thanks for your help
91
and everybody thanks for watching hopefully you found it useful if so leave a thumbs up.
92
And yeah, we'll be back very, very soon.
