Shadowing-Übung: Let’s Steal a New Moon - Englisch Sprechen Lernen mit Video

Lektion wird erstellt...
1
Our moon is boring.
2
Let's steal a new one.
3
How about the reddest object in the solar system, Amalthea?
4
From its host planet Jupiter, it shines as brightly as Venus does from Earth.
5
Sadly, it's just a pile of rubble with a radius 20 times smaller than our moon, and it's 4 times less dense, so we'd have to say goodbye to our tides.
6
Let's try Titan.
7
It's 50 % larger than our moon, with an atmosphere 4 times denser than Earth's, which rains liquid methane.
8
We could send probes to explore its polar lakes, where some scientists think microbes could have evolved to breathe in hydrogen and exhale methane.
9
Rougher tides on Earth would be a small price to pay for alien neighbors.
10
Life is less likely if we took fiery EO.
11
With over 400 volcanoes ejecting plumes of sulfur at least 300 kilometers high, EO could give Earth a donut -shaped ring.
12
This would fade quickly, as its volcanic activity mostly comes from tidal interactions in Jupiter's system.
13
But while it lasted, particles from Io's eruptions could give us spectacular auroras.
14
Still, if it wasn't for our moon in its current orbit keeping us stable on our axis
15
and stopping us drifting into chaotic ice ages, we might not even be here at all.
16
Maybe it's perfect just where it is.
