Ladies and gentlemen, the Halloween update has arrived

And it has brought so much stuff

Like look at me, I'm playing Toji Right now, there's an entire brand new map 20 % bigger than the first map.

There's new items, there's new skins, there's new shenanigans, there's so much stuff in this update that we've got to cover,

so let's waste absolutely no time and get into absolutely everything.

Alright, let's cover the big thing first, Toji, who is on the character list as Hired Killer.

You can see it right up there.

So I'm going to need everyone to lock in.

I'm not kidding, by the way.

I need you to actually put on your thinking caps.

This is not an easy character, at least for me, because I suck at this game.

There's a lot to cover with Toji, so we're going to go step by step and cover the basics.

First, the most important thing about Toji is the R special, which is probably what you guessed it would be, switching weapons.

There are three different weapons you can have as Toji, all with unique M1s, front dashes, and different properties.

It gets a lot more deep than that, so don't worry.

Pressing R switches your weapons.

Your three weapons are the chain of a thousand miles, you have the soul split katana, and you also have the inverted spear of heaven.

I'm just going to refer to them as katana, spear, and chain, just for simplicity's sake.

First thing we're going to do is go one by one over each weapon and explain what they do.

There's ways they blend together, but that's where it gets complex because Toji has a lot of variants.

While there's only two moves available for each weapon, which basically translates to six moves,

there are so many variants that it feels like there's 20 moves.

Let's start with what, in my opinion, I think is the most basic weapon because of the variants, the chain of a thousand miles.

So here are the M1s.

They feel very high impact.

The front dash is a slam in front of you.

It is not a dash forward.

The uppercut and downslam are basically the same as well.

The first move, Lasso, is pretty explanatory.

You just, you know, grab them, pull them towards you, and kick.

Its only interaction thus far is that you can actually grab throwables and kick them at people,

which is more viable than you think because it is pretty aggressive throw.

As you see, I threw that pumpkin very far, and yes, you can throw the pumpkins.

The pumpkins are treated as throwables on this map, which is pretty neat.

Next, we have Whiplash, which is kind of a far range move where you can attack your enemy

and then it also has a very quick use twice where

you can sort of just like follow up with an extra hit.

So sort of combo you can do with the chain is like down slam, front dash, then you could lasso them,

kick them away, whiplash, and then hit them with the second part and that's just with the chain.

And trust me on toji terms that is a very basic combo.

Our next weapon is the soul split katana.

This is very unique and probably the most unique weapon in my opinion.

It only has three m1s which is very crucial to remember.

Only three M1s.

Its front dash is this little twirl with the sword.

It's very weird.

However, once you understand how you're supposed to use it, it makes perfect sense.

So for example, you can use the front dash when they're airborne to sort of juggle them quickly in the air.

Now let's check out the moves.

First, we have flourish.

When you hit them, it makes it sort of like slow down for a second.

Hitting it again causes you to do a dash with a couple of slashes in front of you like this.

There are also two other variants to flourish, which I'm going to show you now, but this is where stuff gets complex.

If you hit

Flourish and you hit R, you will swap to the Inverted Spear of Heaven and do a special variant.

If you hit F off of Flourish, you will swap to the change of a thousand miles and do a special variant there.

It's important to know when you use that move, Flourish, and you switch to a different weapon or do the variant,

it automatically switches you to the weapon you need.

You might have noticed this whole time I'm showcasing, I've been switching weapons rapidly, but that's because I have no cooldowns on.

Normally you cannot switch weapons very fast, so some moves automatically switch for you.

And you'll also notice whenever you land a move, this is also the third move,

by the way, and then you can hit Q off of that.

I'll show you some combos.

But when you normally, when you hit moves, let's say I hit lasso, you see the special bar kind of light up for a second here.

I'll zoom in on it.

You can see it there.

That initiates a quick swap, I believe.

So if you hit during that, you can swap very quickly.

You're not really going to see the effect when I have no cooldowns on.

Okay, back to soul split katana.

So our third move again is this really cool jump up in the air and slam down.

Let me show you a basic combo with Soul Split Katana.

So you know this, and then you hit Q, and then you catch them with two, hit them forward a few times,

and then this isn't true, but then you can hit three and do this.

And you could also actually do what I just did off of three right there.

So two M1s into three, slam them into the ground, catch them with the front dash.

It's a little hard to do, and then you do the second move.

Okay, now let's cover Inverted Spear of Heaven.

This is probably the most basic M1s because you have a normal front dash alongside I have four on one,

so this one's going to feel pretty standard for the basic combat.

Transcend is used twice.

Pressing it again dashes you forward.

It does high damage.

It also has a neat little finisher.

There's an air variant where you have more control over it.

You kind of linger in the air like this.

Rupture is probably one of the more complicated moves out of all of Toji's moves.

There are three variants, and then there's also weird combos you can make out of it.

Let's show each move one by one.

So here's just pressing three by itself.

So you do this, your enemy falls down, and you see a square.

If you time it right and hit three again, you do extra damage.

It's important to notice that's why the use twice is there.

However, if you hit three and then tap R, you just do the first part.

If you hit three and hold R, you actually throw the spear in the air, and it lingers up in the air.

You might wonder, why would you want to do that?

And that, my friends, is where Toji gets very, very complex.

So when this is in the air, you can actually quick swap to a move a different weapon,

but then it'll automatically swap you back to the spear once it lands on you.

You notice I'm not doing anything there, but if I throw it in the air, hit F to swap to my katana,

I have the katana for like two seconds, and then I get the spear back.

So you can do some pretty crazy stuff.

Let me just show you first before I explain.

Okay, so you see what I did right there?

I did a combo with soul split katana before I even got the spear back.

And then I'm doing the three and then hold R so it spins in the air.

You can go backwards by hitting F, which is also why when you do the rupture R variant where you throw it in the air,

Now we'll kind of get into the more specific stuff about Toji since we've covered all the basics.

The block for inverted spear of heaven is actually smaller and its first M1 is actually shorter than the typical weapon.

The chain's M1s have longer M1 range, but they're a little bit slower.

I do believe the highest possible combo you can do on Toji as of this update is something starting with uh,

spear, and then you do three M1s into uppercut into this, and then you have to, like, catch them with the front dash,

and then I think you have to hit flourish up on wake up and do that all before it hits you.

Also, I forgot to show you guys.

The last thing Toji can do is enter domains and is unaffected by domains.

So, yes, it is actually extremely detailed.

There's a bit of an interesting function for how Toji works with this.

You can only enter a domain, but you cannot leave it once you enter, and the domain caster deals increased damage damage to toji as

sort of like a like i don't know a fail safe

because it would be too op so if you

if a toji enters your domain as a caster

you do deal increased damage however something is a little bit different

if you enter malevolent shrine you still will take damage

because technically this targets things without cursed energy

but the damage is heavily reduced so

that much damage so it's i still have a pretty good amount of resistance to domains which is really really cool.

There are also a lot of really nice secret details with Toji that have to do with not having cursed energy,

but I'm going to make a YouTube short covering all that, but the domain is pretty much the biggest one,

and also you cannot pick binding vows as Toji in ranked.

Actually, I'll go ahead and show one more.

If you actually enter Hakari's domain, I don't know if you'll notice it, but there's actually a really neat detail you cannot tell.

So when you're normally playing any other character in Hakari's domain, you actually see the UI up here explaining the scenarios and stuff,

but because Toji doesn't have cursed energy, the domain doesn't actually recognize Toji as someone who needs to understand that information.

Therefore, you as the player do not see the display in the UI, which is a really, really cool detail in my opinion,

because it's so subtle and you would never notice it unless someone told you.

But technically, that's how it would work.

The last interesting interaction is if you're in a Higi domain, you might think, well, Higi takes away your cursed energy.

Higi actually takes away your stance because Toji has no curse energy
