1
In today's video we're going to talk about breakfast.
2
Having my breakfast is one of my favorite parts of the day
3
because I can sit down on my sofa and enjoy a meal early in the morning.
4
I know that some people hate having breakfast because they are very sleepy
5
when they wake up and they just choose the quickest thing they can find
6
and rush to get ready like get dressed or brush their teeth because they have to go to work or to school.
7
When I was younger I hated having breakfast because it was the first thing that I did when I woke up.
8
I was so tired when I woke up early, especially to go to school,
9
and I used to have chocolate cereals with milk or Weetabix with milk.
10
Weetabix is a cereal that we have in England.
11
I'm not really sure if you have it in other countries.
12
Let me know if this exists in your country.
13
So when I was younger I used to have cereals
14
but now that I'm older I realised that cereals have a lot of sugar in them,
15
even the ones that are supposed to be healthy.
16
So now that I'm an adult, I have started to have oats for my breakfast.
17
I usually have a little bit of milk and a little bit of water with my oats.
18
I know that some people leave their oats in water
19
and milk overnight because it tastes a lot better and the oats are softer.
20
I have different ingredients with my oats every day,
21
but my favourite ingredients to have are strawberries, blueberries and bananas.
22
Sometimes I add a yoghurt.
23
I love to have Greek yoghurt.
24
It comes in different flavours but I don't like the lemon or the pineapple ones on my breakfast.
25
They are too sour.
26
I prefer the red fruits or the strawberry yogurts.
27
Sometimes, if I don't have a lot of fruit,
28
I add a bit of honey to my oats to give them a bit of flavour.
29
Bananas give a lot of sweetness to the oats, so if you don't like oats,
30
maybe you should try it with banana.
31
The way I prepare this is I put a cup of oat with one cup of water and one cup of milk.
32
If you mix that up and heat it up then it will be the perfect texture.
33
I enjoy sweet food in the morning and I can't understand how people can have eggs in the morning,
34
fried eggs or poached eggs.
35
I can't imagine myself eating that at 7am.
36
I also have a coffee in the morning or a cup of tea depending on what I fancy on the day.
37
Sometimes if I don't have enough time because the coffee is too hot,
38
I put it in a cup and I take it to work.
39
In the summer I like to have a smoothie in the morning as well.
40
You can also add oats to smoothies and even bananas,
41
blackberries, blueberries, strawberries and avocados Some people like to add seeds to their smoothies because they are very healthy.
42
I like to use chia seeds in my smoothies because they are very small.
43
A lot of people also have toast in the morning.
44
They might have butter on toast or jam on toast.
45
The difference between jam and marmalade is that marmalade is used for more citric fruits like lemons or oranges.
46
Jam is usually made of strawberries, blackberries and those types of fruits.
47
A lot of people think that English people have a full English breakfast every day but that's definitely not true.
48
We might have a full English breakfast on a Saturday or Sunday morning but not at 7am.
49
We might have it at 11am, a bit later,
50
because it takes a long time to prepare and I don't think that you really fancy that in the morning at 7am.
51
The full English breakfast normally consists of fried egg,
52
sausages, bacon, toast, grilled tomatoes,
53
black pudding, baked beans and hash browns which are like potatoes or chips.
54
If you don't like one of these ingredients you usually tell the waiter at the restaurant
55
or if you're at home you don't prepare it.
56
A lot of people love sausages, bacon, toast and fried egg,
57
but some people don't like black pudding or baked beans.
58
Let me know if you have ever tried a full English breakfast,
59
and which ingredients you liked and which ones you didn't like.
60
I think that if you visit England, you have to try it, even if you don't ask for all of the ingredients.
61
It's definitely an experience, and restaurants sell it until midday,
62
I would say, or maybe one or two o 'clock.
63
But I'm sure that you will find specific restaurants
64
that sell it all day even though it's not really normal
65
for us to have it on a Tuesday at 7pm but
66
if you're in a touristy area you will probably find it somewhere.
