1
Hey everyone, welcome back to my channel.
2
This episode, we're going to be talking about four things to know before becoming a permanent makeup artist.
3
Number one, make sure the school provide quality products.
4
I wish I did more research when every trainer,
5
they tell you there's a kit provided and it's good enough for you to serve your first 20 clients and you're thinking,
6
oh, I can do 20 clients.
7
It's like almost I can make my money back already.
8
But what are they really giving you in the kit, right?
9
I learned this the hard way because I got the machine in my one week training and the machine itself,
10
it was kind of hard to use.
11
And I learned that it's not the best in the industry
12
and after I did more research now I use the Zion S.
13
I'm not promoting them but this is what I use.
14
This is made in the USA.
15
If you wanted to autoclave this you can
16
but I always wrap it really cleanly and also the needles that I use right.
17
For example this one.
18
These are all officially licensed products.
19
This can be sold in the EU
20
which they have a lot more strict guidelines for permanent makeup
21
and what's great about this is that it does not allow backflow.
22
What is backflow?
23
It has a membrane that stops backflow so the ink
24
that goes into the machine there's a barrier in between where it does not allow your ink
25
or any body fluids go into your machine because once once any body fluid can penetrate into your machine, it's no good.
26
You know, it will be very hard to clean.
27
But not every machine is the same.
28
You might be getting a machine that only costs $40, $50 on Alibaba, to be honest. And
29
that is not something you want to work on a client of yours
30
that's paid $300 to $500 to $1 ,000 for their eyebrows.
31
And to be honest, it's probably not the most hygienic thing to use as well.
32
Number two, choose an artist with a lot of experience.
33
A lot of artists, they do great work.
34
And when you see it on Instagram, usually the photos are taken immediately after.
35
And usually the immediately after photos, they look really good.
36
Because Instagram is a platform where the visual of a picture means a lot.
37
So of course, people photo edit the pictures not saying
38
that they edit the actual work
39
but everything else around it is probably you know very filtered
40
and it looks really good to somebody that's not experienced
41
but what you're really looking for is their healed result
42
and it's not just their healed work after three months it's their healed work after two years after three years
43
so when you do your research on a trainer
44
that you want to teach you make sure
45
that they know how their own work looks two years to three years down the line
46
so with that said I really wish I knew that too
47
so I know to pick a trainer that's been in the street for quite some time because
48
when the ink heals in the skin
49
it does change over time depending on how deep
50
it went into the skin the ink went into the skin
51
it depends on what product line they used for your eyebrows
52
so that's why you see a lot of people's eyebrow they they turn salmon color they they're blue they're green
53
but you don't actually initially see that the first three months you see
54
that down the line so make sure when you choose your trainer
55
that their brows can stand the test of time
56
and make sure you let them show you their actual results
57
one year from today two years from today three years from today so do your research
58
number three confirmed support is offered after receiving your certificate something that's very very important is the care
59
that they provide to you after the fact after
60
you've done your you know one week two days whatever training
61
what kind of support are you getting from them after that
62
because sometimes I've taken you know like 10 15 different courses and a lot of times I felt like okay,
63
my money was invested.
64
Now I don't know how to actually start or I need more support.
65
Like if a client comes in, I am not an expert on their skin.
66
I'm not an expert on what color I should be choosing for them
67
or what is the best technique to use for this specific client.
68
And I need some help from my trainers.
69
And a lot of times if you go to like a really big academy,
70
they're so busy, they're not going to get back to you in time.
71
Because what if your client comes in, you know, two days from from now and you need advice right away.
72
Well, really, the really busy schools are not going to give you
73
that personalized care and to kind of guide you on how to do a certain procedure.
74
But at least with my first year when I started, I knew I needed the guidance and I really didn't get a lot of that.
75
So do your research and make sure that you get so much aftercare support after you're done with your actual course,
76
which is usually about one week or three days.
77
So no training courses or academies that focus on permanent makeup has ever taught me how to market myself.
78
And so that is something you need to look into.
79
And when I do one -on -one training with all of my students, I give them that.
80
I give them that support of how to build an actual business from the ground up.
81
Number four, don't be sold by just the numbers.
82
Once you get so excited, you're ready to be like, oh my god, I'm gonna start something so new, and you do all these research,
83
a lot of things come up where it says you're gonna make so much money from this industry, right?
84
Because if you really think about it, let's say you are gonna charge $350 for a pair of brows.
85
So you think about this person, if she did two procedures in one day, she's making $700.
86
And in a week, if she works a five day, you know, week, it'd be $3 ,500, right?
87
And then times by, let's say 48 weeks out of a year you're working that's like what $168 ,000
88
and you're like wow
89
and a lot of schools they they sell
90
you on wow how much money you're gonna make
91
you're gonna make your money back within however long the money you've invested
92
but to be honest just by taking one course it's not enough
93
it's barely scratching the surface of permanent makeup you need to be taking so many different courses.
94
A course just on the anatomy of the skin.
95
Really understand when ink goes into the skin, how does it heal?
96
Why does ink stay there?
97
Why does it over time it disappears?
98
Why over time it changes color?
99
Those are all things that you need to know as an expert.
100
So usually these like two -day, three -day courses, they don't go into detail of why it happens,
101
but you need to find out why it happens
102
because your client going to come back to you in two to three years
103
and ask you questions if if they don't heal correctly
104
so yes this industry is very lucrative if you've really put in your work
105
and you have passion it does take money to make money
106
because the courses
107
that you take they are expensive
108
i think my first course for microblading was 4 500 my second course for ombre was $4 ,500
109
and then I've taken a gazillion other courses just on color theory.
110
That was one whole course alone.
111
One whole course on how to remove the tattoo
112
because I wanted to make sure before I even started touching anybody's skin
113
that I need to know how to remove it because what if I screw up?
114
What if I screw up somebody's face?
115
So please be ethical when you start.
116
Don't just think about okay I need to make my money back.
117
I need to make my investment back.
118
You will as long as your work is based on integrity.
119
It's based on very good skills that you've spent countless hours practicing.
120
And of course, like, please find yourself a really good trainer that will offer you support and,
121
and offer you guidance as well as kind of give you the confidence to push you further
122
and further so you can be great in this industry.
123
Okay, so that concludes my video.

127
I share a lot of my information there.
128
A lot of times when I post my work,
129
if you like it, you can actually see what pigment I use or what machine I use and what techniques I use.
130
I'm pretty transparent.
131
and there's a lot of things you can learn from me and I can learn from you.
132
I'll see you in the next one.
133
Bye.
134
A lot of ladies don't see her.
135
Somebody that walks in your door.
136
