1
Good morning my name is Grant this is Endorphin Empire and welcome to Preston Parkrun
2
If 2025 is going to be remembered for anything it will be remembered for being the dry hot year
3
and speaking of heat Preston Parkrun is bringing all the heat
4
today this place is absolutely stunning I don't know what I was expecting
5
but it definitely wasn't this this place is wonderful
6
so far first impressions very very very very good the park
7
is beautiful it's big there's a few elevations here it looks very modern
8
and there's lots of good facilities
9
and it looks like it attracts some quick runners as well the record here is low 15s
10
so it is potentially quite a quick course
11
so i'm going to find out about that today and
12
if you've not seen these videos before how they work is
13
i do a little bit of pre-run admin sort of what shoes you need to bring things like
14
that we get into a course overview following
15
that i get into the run i zoom it up
16
so you can kind of see the course quite quickly
17
and obviously by the end the most important part of my
18
week the highlights of my weekend is the cafe review where
19
we try to find some carrot cake fundamentally that's the most important part
20
and then possibly some good breakfast as well in terms of
21
preston i know it's a jubilee city made a city in 2002
22
so it's been a city for a
23
while now lovely place to visit it seems
24
so far not been here before in the northwest a bit
25
of a drive to get over here for me today
26
but it was for a reason probably the furthest west i've been i don't know
27
if that's true or not but it's a fact
28
if i say it's a fact
29
and in terms of free run admin first of all underfoot it is surface path
30
so you can wear your road shoes i'm wearing some new
31
shoes today i'm very excited to give them a go then
32
in terms of toilets there are toilets beside the start finish area they're a bit basic
33
but it's all you need and then getting here there's loads of of information, the people who run this place are very on it.
34
So the information on the Parkrun website and the 5k app tells you how to get here, obviously by public transport, so by bus,
35
how to get here by train as well.
36
You can cycle here and there's cycling lock-up facilities right beside the start finish area
37
and in terms of driving here there's loads of different parking availability options on the 5k up to.
38
But without any further ado let's get straight over to the course overview
39
and then following I'll get straight to the start line.
40
Let's go.
41
30 seconds course overview.
42
It's a three lap course so one mile per lap pretty much
43
which makes it very easy for you to hopefully pace yourself
44
if there wasn't an enormous hill which there is and it's steep
45
but then you get a pretty much descent for the rest
46
of the lap the hill starts straight away it's quite congested
47
first lap then you can just pick people off as long as you've paced yourself correctly
48
and that is the trick to this course pacing
49
if you can hold back the excitement at the start you're on to a winner
50
so bear that in mind going forwards
51
but let's get to the course overview now and you can see if i did a decent job at that so
52
Hello from roughly half a way round Preston Park and gonna go out on a limb and say, not a PB course?
53
That hill is pretty big, but we're approaching halfway now.
54
It's very well volunteered.
55
There's a very well oiled machine here, and I think they get everything sorted straight away.
56
The only issue is they're a bit congested at the start, but isn't every parkrunner.
57
Thank you.
58
So, I'll leave you just now with time, to the end of the course it is a beautiful this course
59
so i hope you enjoy it and i'll see you at the finish line ciao so
60
Keep moving,
61
she's fine.
62
Hello, thank you very much.
63
Preston Parkrun, done and understood.
64
You can see the finished vinyl just walking in behind.
65
I've said it before and I'll say it again, this is a very well-oiled machine.
66
The volunteers here are magnificent.
67
So thank you so much.
68
So far, surely a contender for the top 10 parkruns i've done this is event number 102
69
and it's magnificent now we have to get to the cafe though that's where it will make
70
or break so thanks to the volunteers let's pray for carrot cake decent bacon
71
or sausage buddies and a decent black americano let's go Cafe review time at Preston Park.
72
In the moment you've all been waiting for.
73
And in terms of coffee it was decent, so can't complain at all.
74
Quite quick service considering how busy it can get in there.
75
The sausage buddies were okay, the nice white bun.
76
I think it was sort of a sausage bun is what they might call it over here.
77
But the staff were lovely, very chatty which is great
78
and then obviously the most important part of my week the highlight of my week is the carrot cake
79
but they didn't have any i had a honeycomb
80
and chocolate tiffin instead which is okay
81
but it has failed in the carrot cake regard you can
82
see all the cake options here there are a few muffins
83
and other things to choose from
84
and there were a few um packeted like sweet treats as well
85
but i don't really go for them
86
but no decent little cafe right beside the start finish area
87
all very convenient this spot i really really rate it
88
and there you have have it cafe review done course overview
89
done pre-run admin done the actual run itself done thank you
90
to anyone who said hello i appreciate you i chatted to
91
a few of you today all the way over here in preston over two hours away from home
92
so thanks for watching
93
if you've enjoyed it please remember to like comment share subscribe
94
it means a bunch to me in the description for this
95
video below you'll find a link to my strava account so
96
if there's any further details such as how much elevation there
97
actually is on this course you can go over there
98
and have a look and then as always say thank you to the volunteers
99
and please remember one pizza will make you fat
100
one park run won't make you fit you get out there enjoy your running
101
and i'll see you next time from a new location ciao
