Pratica di Shadowing: Can I Make a VIRAL Roblox Game Without AI? - Impara a parlare inglese con i video

Creazione lezione...
1
It seems like anywhere you go on Roblox, you cannot avoid AI.
2
And I'd be lying if I said I wasn't using it to code.
3
But I want to stop.
4
The funny thing is, I hate using it.
5
And as a result of relying on it, I feel like my brain is now the size of a grave.
6
So I gave myself a challenge.
7
To make an entire game from start to finish on stream without any AI.
8
In an attempt to gain back the coding knowledge I lost and make the game viral.
9
And honestly, this might be the best game I've ever made.
10
Let's just hope my AI addiction doesn't get the best of me.
11
The first day was upon us, and I didn't have a game idea.
12
Okay, let's think of one right now.
13
Oh, hold on.
14
Tower Tycoons have been blown up again recently, with games such as Pickaxe Tycoon, Chicken Farm where you collect drops, turn them into cash, and merge them for better droppers.
15
Considering I love Tycoons, I wanted to make my own, and I knew just the theme to go for.
16
My idea currently is like a smoothie Tower Tycoon.
17
So you buy these droppers that drop like fruit, we drop them all into a blender, it all blends into smoothies and then you sell the smoothies.
18
Sounds like a plan.
19
And after getting the chat tuned into our scheme, I made a smoothie to track our progress.
20
So every time we complete a step of the game, a new sauce flavour is added.
21
But anyway, it was time to start off our challenge and obtain our first sauce.
22
The plot sauce.
23
As I mentioned in my last video, this is nothing new on the Duckable channel.
24
So let's just quickly lay out the plots, create a tycoon service.
25
Wait, guys, guys, get out of the way.
26
Encode everything up.
27
But it was obvious that the AI brain rot was already starting to show.
28
You have an error?
29
You set attribute?
30
Did I do something wrong?
31
Yeah, I did.
32
I'm such an idiot.
33
But now all we got to do is create a tycoon when the player joins. And...
34
Uh-oh.
35
Something's already wrong.
36
Ah, yes, yes, yes, yes.
37
There we go.
38
All right, let's try that again.
39
There we go.
40
And just like that, we already got our plot sauce.
41
But this system was by far the easiest in the entire freaking video.
42
So let's move on to something a little bit more challenging.
43
The tower sauce.
44
For this step of the challenge, we need to build a tower.
45
Create an automatic tower builder script for whenever we run out of space for droppers.
46
So let's build the coolest looking tower ever.
47
And I'm warning you guys, I'm really good at building.
48
Yeah, I totally lied.
49
I suck.
50
And because of that, I brought in Fischlz to help out.
51
He began working on building the tower design.
52
Leaving us to code in peace.
53
But embarrassingly enough, I was already itching to use AI.
54
The problem I encountered wasn't even hard.
55
When we add floors onto our Tycoon Sour, we need to get the coordinate of the top floor so we can place the next one.
56
For someone with six years of coding under their belt, this would surely be a breeze.
57
But I was already struggling thanks to AI dumbing down my beautiful brain.
58
I had to channel all of my energy into this.
59
So after typing if and sitting around for 90 seconds, yes, it did take me this long.
60
It finally clocked in.
61
Let's try it.
62
Let's see if it works.
63
Oh, look at that.
64
That's so cool.
65
Oh, it's embarrassing how excited I am by that.
66
Yeah, I totally wasn't overcomplicating everything or something.
67
But boy, was it satisfying to get it right.
68
And honestly, that's something I noticed I didn't get coding with AI.
69
It just does everything for you.
70
Removing any sort of struggle you feel, which also means that nothing you do ever feels accomplishing or satisfying.
71
But anyway, that's yet another sauce added into our smoothie.
72
But let's kick up the intensity and move on to a more challenging task.
73
Because we need some more practice if we want to tackle the other mechanics for this game.
74
Right now we have our infinitely increasing tower.
75
But we have nothing to place onto each floor.
76
So it's time to start working towards our dropper sauce.
77
Starting with getting the next available spawn point from our tower.
78
Before moving on to creating the prettiest dropper of all time.
79
And yes, officials will be making this look better.
80
In fact, I had a pretty sick idea for the dropper design.
81
I don't know if any of you have played Islands, but they used to have these totems that had a crop floating above it
82
and it spawned that crop around any farmlands nearby.
83
I think something like that could be cool for our dropper design.
84
But we can't do that without our trusty code.
85
So I created this drop packet that sends a signal to your client to activate the dropper.
86
The client then receives that signal and spawns the drop into the world.
87
This took a little bit of time without AI, but hopefully my rotified brain was onto something here.
88
All we had to do was test.
89
Okay, so it's not ticking.
90
No, this was it.
91
It's over man, my brain's too far gone.
92
Wait.
93
Oh my god, I'm such an idiot.
94
I'm such a f*ing moron.
95
You're the most intelligent one I've ever seen.
96
Bro, you can't say that after I just did that.
97
Yeah, that totally didn't take a whole ass menace to solve.
98
But the system should finally work now.
99
Okay, there we go, finally.
100
Holy moly, man.
101
We freaking did it.
102
We managed to get our grubby little coat our hands on the dropper sauce.
103
And honestly, I felt some coating knowledge come back to me.
104
But unfortunately, we had an issue.
105
Bedtime.
106
So it was time to hit the hay and gain back my energy for tomorrow.
107
Because I was gonna need it to make some of the coolest features I've ever made.
108
It was day for day 2, wait what what?
109
And I was pumped to get going.
110
It was almost as if, you know, using AI ruins the fun of making games.
111
But anyway, let's move on.
112
In Tower of Tycoons, buying droppers, merging, depositing and collecting all rely on buttons.
113
So naturally our next sauce is the button sauce.
114
I worked up a simple button, basted them all over, made a big yellow one for merging before it was time to code them in.
115
Shouldn't take too long.
116
You know what else doesn't take long?
117
Turning on a blender with people inside of it.
118
Oh no, this isn't good.
119
And that's what will happen if you don't subscribe.
120
Okay, but like, not actually.
121
We hit 130k on this stream and I genuinely think we can hit 200k by the end of the year.
122
So I'd appreciate the help.
123
And by the time we had this milestone, I was working on the button classes.
124
Now I'd be lying if I said I didn't feel my brain unrotting.
125
But I would also be lying if I said we didn't run into another issue.
126
Okay, so our tycoon consists of five different buttons.
127
But repeating a bunch of code is not the best way to do things.
128
So I plan to use a little something called inheritance.
129
Let me explain.
130
Imagine a totally awesome car.
131
It has wheels, a seat, a driving wheel.
132
But what if we wanted a red car?
133
Or even a police car?
134
Well, you would take all the components of the base car and build off of it, like adding some red paint or giving it a siren.
135
That's essentially what we're doing with our buttons.
136
Creating a normal average button that you can press, but our red buttons spawn droppers and our yellow button merges them.
137
This took a bit of time for me to lock down, even with help from the dev forum, but piece after piece.
138
Okay, so if we press the button, we should get a print.
139
Let's go.
140
Yes.
141
Okay, that's so cool.
142
That's so cool.
143
But we aren't done just yet, because pressing these buttons is so motherflippin' boring.
144
We need something awesome, something tubular, something modular.
145
Did someone say module?
146
What in the flying f* are you?
147
I am Modular Man.
148
Woah.
149
Here boy, I believe this will help you.
150
Holy moly, thanks man.
151
Wait, how did you get in here?
152
Well, I best be off.
153
Module Man, away!
154
Fuck off!
155
And help me!
156
Okay, sweet.
157
Uh, thanks to Module Man, we now have a cool script called Ripple.
158
You know how in games like Catch a Brain Rot where you make things go boiii- Yeah, freaking watch this man.
159
This is gonna be so freaking cool.
160
Okay, okay, and boom, boom, boom, boom, boom.
161
But let's not stop there.
162
How about a little color?
163
It should work now, it should work now.
164
Ooh, look at that.
165
And how about a little bit of flash?
166
Boom, you can kind of see it a little bit.
167
And there we go.
168
It was safe to say that the button sauce was ready.
169
But what's the point of buying all these droppers if you can't merge them?
170
Let's quickly get working on earning that merging sauce.
171
So basically what we need to do, we need to keep merging until there's no more merges able to be done.
172
Correct!
173
So let's barf out all those code into here.
174
BLEAAH!
175
Well that was easy, right.
176
And then if we merge, we should have one pair on, right?
177
Let's go.
178
Three, two, one.
179
No, something's wrong.
180
Oh wow.
181
We were not close to done.
182
And my brain was getting absolutely backed by all this complex thinking.
183
It sucks how relying on AI kind of just ruins the whole process of making games for me.
184
And that was ruining the experience when not using it.
185
I was really struggling at this point and was worried for the rest of the challenge.
186
So I made a decision.
187
I'm gonna take a little break.
188
Get a drink.
189
No, not drunk.
190
I'm not getting drunk.
191
I'm getting drink.
192
That was the worst typo ever.
193
But as I took my break, despite my entire chat erupting with drunkable, there were some messages genuinely excited for this game.
194
It was a really good idea and I couldn't let it go to waste just because AI rotted my brain.
195
I had to lock the freak in.
196
Merge.
197
I created none.
198
So I don't think it's creating any new droppers.
199
I think it's deleted the old ones and it's still trying to access the old ones.
200
I think I got it.
201
I think I got it guys.
202
We just got to do a little bit of this.
203
Freaking done it.
204
This should be it.
205
This should be it.
206
And you get to...
207
Okay, now we merge.
208
You're joking.
209
This...
210
Okay, no, we've made progress though.
211
That's wrong.
212
That's why.
213
This might actually be it.
214
This might actually be it.
215
Come on.
216
Please, please work.
217
Oh!
218
Oh, we did it!
219
Oh, what a victorious end to the livestream.
220
And we obtained our merging sauce.
221
But it was getting late so I headed off excited for the next day
222
and let my brain soak up even more of the coding knowledge I gained back
223
because tomorrow would be one of the most fun days of this entire challenge
224
Waking up on day three I was pumped to get going
225
We need to obtain our next sauce the blender sauce But also does the game not feel kind of boring to play?
226
Why don't we also make the game feel super nice while we work on the blender system?
227
So like this will be a big freaking blender.
228
Let's redesign this UI and add a fruit can that we drop into the blender.
229
One thing that sucks about this game right now is how unsatisfying it is to pick the fruits up.
230
If only I had something like, I don't know, a really cool module.
231
Did someone say module?
232
Whoa, are you good?
233
You got a little something all over your face.
234
Oh, yes, I kind of crashed through your window there.
235
Did you not know it was there?
236
Nope.
237
And anyway, what have you got for me this time?
238
For you, boy, I have brought Orbify.
239
Awesome, thanks man.
240
And now I must leave once again.
241
Okay, uh, there's no winter anymore, right?
242
No, no, it's gone.
243
Okay, great!
244
Here I go!
245
Module man, away!
246
Oh, mother f*ing bro!
247
Yeah, that's great, thanks man.
248
Okay, anyway.
249
This is Orbify, a super cool module I created myself, meant to simulate collecting experience orbs.
250
Kinda like from Minecraft, but after I click-collect some more code in, you'll notice that I can use more than just experience orbs.
251
There we go, look at that.
252
That's kinda cool.
253
That's gonna frickin' sick, man.
254
I even added some more special effects to the large buttons, but there was one final effect I wanted to add before the end of the stream.
255
Right now you can deposit your fruits into the blender, and the soon-to-exist smoothies will be sold at the soon-to-exist stands to the soon-to-exist customers.
256
But collecting cash right now is super boring, so let's put Orbify to use one more time.
257
Okay, and check this out when I collect the cash.
258
Now that is satisfying.
259
Things were looking up for the big duckable.
260
We made the game so much more satisfying, we gained back even more coding knowledge and we can now also obtain our blender sauce.
261
But the game is going to get even more satisfying tomorrow.
262
Day four was here.
263
Now we were about to receive some legendary news from our builder officials.
264
But first, let's go ahead and grab a super easy sauce for our huge ass smoothie.
265
The ever changing global economy sauce.
266
Basically in most Tower Tycoon games, there's a multiplier in the center of the map, but every 30 seconds, changes the total value of what you deposit to make money.
267
So if I were to drop in 100 fruits during a 1.5x multiplier, I would get an extra 50.
268
We had to implement something like that into our game.
269
So after a quick break to chat to my chat, I coded my heart out, creating the multiplier service, before moving onto the massive GUI in the sky.
270
It was honestly super refreshing to just make something simple for a change.
271
Coding all of this without AI was extremely intense and was taking forever.
272
And as much as I was itching to forget the challenge and use AI anyway, this definitely helped.
273
And I was feeling pretty refreshed to keep going.
274
Awesome.
275
That should be the system complete.
276
The ever-changing global economy sauce has been acquired.
277
Ignoring the time wasted on little particle effects, today was pretty short, I can't lie.
278
But before we could move on to the most important aspects of the game, remember when I said that officials had some good news for us?
279
Well, before we get to that, you might be interested in knowing that I have a freaking album dropping on the 7th of August called Aero Bubbles.
280
It's full of dinky little beats that I'll be using in future videos.
281
You're even listening to one of them right now, so if you want to take a cheeky listen then feel free to check it out in the description.
282
Anyway, Fishles, let's see what he's made.
283
Yo, it's our first two fruits.
284
These are so cool.
285
Let's try them out.
286
Yes, dude, I'm so happy to finally phase out these boring balls.
287
And there's plenty more where that came from, because there are dozens of fruits still to be added later on.
288
So let's hit the hay and get ready for the next day.
289
It was the final day of streaming and we still had two pretty hefty tasks to get done.
290
With only 4 hours until my week of streaming came to an end.
291
Let's try and get our crate sauce.
292
Every so often in these Tycoon games a crate will drop and allow you to roll for a random rare dropper.
293
And I thought our game could use something like it.
294
So I prepped this delicious crate to fit our game, picked up a crate service, added a little RNG module on the side and even learn some new things.
295
Extend.
296
Ah, that is cool.
297
That's what we want.
298
I was finding out a lot more about ways I could improve my code.
299
Now that I wasn't, you know, just sitting on a boring screen asking a chatbot to do it all for me.
300
But as much as I was loving the lack of AI, there was still part of me that was missing it.
301
Let's go by… Okay, so there should be a little pop-up menu on the right and it's not showing up.
302
Things were starting to confuse me just a tad.
303
I love being able to code all this myself, but having absolutely zero AI help was tough, I can't lie.
304
I mean it's been what, three, four years since AI came around?
305
That's a long time to go without problem solving on your own.
306
How about I take a tiny break from coding?
307
Hey, it looks like Fishel's finished up something.
308
So this is our cool blender.
309
Okay, after giving it a paint job, it was looking sick.
310
But after looking at the time, I realized that I soon had to end my stream.
311
I still had quite a lot to do, and it was looking like I was gonna have to start working overtime through the weekend.
312
Oh, crit dropped.
313
Yeah, okay, the pop-up still won't show.
314
I'm so stumped on this, so I think we're just gonna have to leave it for now
315
and I'll keep working on the game for the next few days.
316
Things were not looking up for the big duckable.
317
I was starting to struggle quite a bit without being able to use AI.
318
It was honestly kind of embarrassing.
319
I thought I was a talented developer, able to make some impressive systems and mechanics.
320
I was worried that I wouldn't be able to live up to that standard anymore.
321
Maybe Maybe AI was the reason I was able to do all those things.
322
Whatever man, maybe I'm not thinking clearly.
323
Never trust how you feel about your life past 9pm.
324
Am I right?
325
Let's hit the hay and try find a solution in the morning.
326
I was feeling pretty rough on the morning of day 6.
327
You know, it's not every day you wake up after a night of worrying
328
that your self-worth is kinda going down the drain.
329
But nonetheless, we need to persevere and get that great sauce.
330
So that's the UI pop-up now working, but we need to now complete a cool opening sequence.
331
So off I went, but not very fast.
332
I was still pretty down in the dumps.
333
Okay, so right now I'm trying to code the opening animation, and I want any crates you open to pop out from you and land in a random direction.
334
I wonder where I can get something like that.
335
Maybe in the form of a module?
336
You called?
337
Module man, wha-whoa.
338
Man, you look really bad.
339
Yes, I wonder why.
340
Anyway, I need one more module.
341
You've got it, my friend.
342
For you, I have...
343
JUMP ANIMATION!
344
Oh, sick!
345
Thanks, dude.
346
And, hey, I'm really sorry about you flying through my window and all.
347
I feel really bad about it.
348
Yes, my face hurts, and like, every other part of my body.
349
Yeah, I'm sorry, man.
350
I promise there's no window this time.
351
He kinda smashed into my backup.
352
Well, thank you.
353
I best be off then.
354
Mortal Man, ORAAY!
355
WOOOOOOHOO!
356
Oh my god!
357
I uh, I forgot about my automatic heat seeking missile launcher.
358
Well uh, anyway.
359
We now have Jump Animation.
360
A module by StewieFing.
361
All I have to do is slot it into here.
362
Give us some parameters like where it'll spawn and how far it can be thrown.
363
Now let's test it.
364
Let's see.
365
Oh nice, it works.
366
And we have a cool little ticking sequence here which is cool.
367
But I wasn't done just yet.
368
Right now it looks kind of boring, right?
369
We need some awesome hacking particle effects.
370
Alright, let's test it now.
371
Here we go.
372
Yo, that's so cool!
373
Infinitely better than how it was before.
374
But now we need to add more crate variants for higher tier drops.
375
And I think they came out sweet.
376
With all that done, we had to do one final playtest to make sure everything works perfectly.
377
Okay, go pick up one of these.
378
And the menu pops up.
379
Nice.
380
First, let's try discarding.
381
G-great, okay. That sucks.
382
What about if I try and buy it?
383
Nah, meh.
384
What is going on?
385
Let's try this again.
386
Okay, so that's even worse.
387
I was starting to get pretty frustrated.
388
I was looking around everywhere to try and find where these errors were coming from.
389
But to no avail.
390
Maybe I was right.
391
Maybe I kinda suck without AI.
392
Maybe this whole challenge is just pointless.
393
I mean surely just one prompt into Claude would fix this whole mess.
394
Although that would mean I failed the challenge.
395
I would let down all my fans who are inspired by what I do.
396
But as my mind was going through the freaking trenches, I took a break and played around in what we had made so far.
397
I would be lying if I said this game wasn't insanely satisfying.
398
It's really cool that I've been able to make all of this to be honest.
399
Looking around at what I made, the complex systems, the satisfying mechanics, I realized that I was honestly being a little bit hugely stupid.
400
The game may not look great at the moment, but it was really impressive.
401
And if I could finish something like this, then I'd be able to prove to myself that I don't need AI to be a legendary scripter.
402
So with my motivation back at max, I went ahead and tackled this error one last time.
403
Okay, and now we need to return this.
404
That should fix the error.
405
Let's see...
406
Oh sh- and we did it, let's go!
407
All I had to do was add a single word bro.
408
I got so worked up and for what?
409
And with that, the crate sauce was finally ours.
410
So before hitting the hay and preparing for the most complex system of the video, I plopped in a bunch of new fruits officials made, polished up the blender, bombarded the game with monetization,
411
and took a scary game break with the Bloxxers crew.
412
Here you should, you know, certainly subscribe to it by the way.
413
The game was honestly in such a good position.
414
If we could obtain this final sauce, the challenge would be complete.
415
And maybe, just maybe, I would be able to gain back all the coding knowledge I lost.
416
So let's get that beauty sleep and hit the ground running tomorrow.
417
Yeah, I get it, we're on day 9 now, it's taking longer than I thought, okay?
418
Thankfully we have one final task to complete.
419
But before we get started, we have some good news from Fischlz.
420
We got a Tycoon design finally done.
421
This is so sick man, let's get it implemented.
422
Not only this, we got a totally awesome map done too.
423
I mean, look at it.
424
Our game was pretty sick right now, but at the moment our smoothie game has zero smoothies.
425
So our final task of the video is to get the customer sauce.
426
We're going to create a queuing system for each taikun that spawns in your friends to line up for smoothies.
427
Every time you blend up a smoothie, a customer buys it and fades out of existence.
428
This was by far the biggest challenge of the entire video
429
because I've never done anything like it before and I didn't have Claude to help me out.
430
But I was determined to get the game done.
431
So let's get to it.
432
Step 1.
433
Smoothie stand.
434
this bad boy, send it to the back rooms for a little while and yeah I think this works.
435
Step 2.
436
Cube.
437
This part was pretty easy, we basically just have a bunch of attachments here, each is a point where the customer will stand in the cube.
438
Step 3.
439
Customers.
440
Let's start off by getting the player's friend list, then spend way too much time trying to find Roblox's walk and idle animations.
441
Now I'm just adding in a function that takes the customer template, gets a random friends avatar and applies it to the template.
442
I was on a freaking grind, coating my heart out.
443
I even left a little comment in my recording notes about how much I was loving it.
444
It felt like nothing could stop me.
445
Maybe I was wrong.
446
Maybe I really was a legendary scripter.
447
Okay, I think we're done.
448
Let's do, hopefully, one final test.
449
Shhh, what have I done?
450
Literally nothing is working on the client.
451
Uh, okay.
452
Let's just make a quick tweak and try again.
453
Still nothing is working on the client.
454
I do not know what has gone wrong.
455
Oh, wait, I need to move this down to here.
456
Okay, let's try this.
457
Okay, now I'm getting proper errors.
458
Out of nowhere, I completely dropped out of the flow state.
459
I was running into problem after problem.
460
Some help from Claude would have been real good right now, but I was set on figuring this out myself.
461
I've come so far.
462
There was no shot that I'm handing over the win to these losers.
463
Man, I just gotta think.
464
DINK!
465
THINK!
466
THINK!
467
Wait.
468
Oh my god, no way.
469
I just need to add one.
470
Oh my god, man, I'm an idiot, this is it.
471
Okay, let's test, holy moly.
472
Oh my god.
473
But before we do the most important playtest of the video, I may have something to confess.
474
But before I confess, I kinda had a revelation.
475
I don't think AI actually made me dumber.
476
Usually if I run into an error, I would just hit up my home slice claw and get the problem fixed in a couple minutes.
477
But with this challenge, I was left to fend for myself.
478
AI didn't make me dumber, it just made me forget how it felt to struggle.
479
And yeah, I guess that's good maybe, but it also takes away from the satisfaction of coding you use it too much.
480
I understand the appeal of having this tech that can do almost anything you want it to, and I don't blame people for wanting to use it.
481
As a productivity freak myself, I find it great for saving time.
482
But I also love the process of coding.
483
So, after this challenge, will I return to AI?
484
Yeah.
485
I think AI is cool when used as a tool, not as a replacement.
486
What I don't like is generating complete f*ing ass slop and stealing from hardworking thumbnail artists.
487
Dude, I made this thumbnail myself in like one minute and it has 10% CTR.
488
You have no f*ing excuse, bro.
489
Oh, and uh, yeah that confession.
490
I may have used AI.
491
I'm sorry.
492
I searched up something on Google and read the AI answer.
493
I didn't clock it in.
494
I'm sorry.
495
If it makes you feel any better, the solution didn't work, man.
496
But all that aside, I really enjoyed coding on my own again, and I'm praying that it now all works.
497
So let's complete this playtest and see if I can live up to that legendary scripter title.
498
Come on, come on, come on!
499
Oh, people are spawning!
500
Yes!
501
Oh my god, finally!
502
Finally, it's been three hours, man!
503
Look at everyone, they're all queuing up!
504
This is so awesome!
505
AI can f*ing suck it, man!
506
I still got the juice!
507
Or should I say, the smoothie.
508
Am I right, guys?
509
Hmm.
510
And with that, our smoothie is now complete.
511
The game will be linked in the description when it draws.
512
Anyway, uh...
513
Yeah, I don't know.
514
Bye.
