Hey everyone, welcome back to Teachers Tech.  I'm Jamie and today we're diving into one of the most exciting tools I've seen in a long time.  It's called Claude Code and it's going to change the way you think about building things with  technology. Now, I know what some of you are thinking. I'm not a coder. This isn't for me.  But that's exactly why I'm making this video.
3
Claude Code is genuinely accessessible to  beginners. And by the end of this video, you're going to have built a real working app. So,  stick with me. So, let's start with the basics.
4
You might already know Claude is the AI chatbot  from a company called Anthropic. You can go to claude.ai AI and chat with it. Ask it questions,  have it write things for you. That's what most people know. Claude code is different. Think of  regular Claude as someone you can talk to about building a house. They can describe how to frame a  wall, what materials to use, draw you a blueprint.
5
That's great. But Claude Code, Claude Code is  the person who actually picks up the hammer, measures the wood, and builds the wall for you.  Claude Code runs in something called a terminal.
6
That's just the textbased window on your computer  where you can type commands. And from there, Claude Code can actually read your files,  create new files, run programs, install things, and build entire projects. All you do is describe  what you want in plain English. Now, Claude Code launched in early 2025, and it has absolutely  taken off. Developers around the world are using it. But here's what I want you to understand. You  don't need to be a developer to use this tool. If you can describe what you want clearly, Claude  Code can build it. Okay, let's talk about what you need to get started. There are really just two  things, a computer and a cloud subscription. Cloud Code works on Mac, Windows, and Linux. There's a  straightforward installer as well. I'll show you both in a minute. Now, here's the part everyone  wants to know about. What does it cost? Let me break this down for you simply. There's a free  version, but no Cloud Code access. This is just chat only. In the Pro, $20 a month, you have  Claude code and terminal. This is where most beginners should start. You also get Cloud Code  in the Max plans. The 5X more usage than Pro, good for heavy daily users, and you have the 20x  more usage for power users and professionals. My recommendations for beginners, start with the  pro plan at $20 a month. That gives you access to Claude Code and Co-work. I'm going to have a  different video coming out about that, so make sure you stay tuned, and it gives you plenty of  usage to learn and experiment. You can always upgrade later if you find yourself using it a lot.  Now, I'm going to show you the terminal version today because it's the most powerful, but I want  you to know you can also use Cloud Code right inside Cloud.AI on the web with no installation as  a desktop app or inside VS Code if you're already a coder. Same brain, different interfaces.  I'll cover those in future videos. All right, let's get Cloud Code installed on our computer.  And I'm going to walk you through this step by step. I'm going to start with Windows first and  then I'll show you on Mac as well. On Windows, just go down and we're going to open up terminal  here. And I'm going to get you to rightclick on terminal and run this as administrator to avoid  any permission issues. What I want you to do is type this in windget installthropic.cloudcode.  I have it down below in the description, so you can just copy and paste it in. Once you have that  in, go ahead and hit enter. Now, if you got this error, don't worry. I got this, too. This is a  quick fix. Let me show you what to download and then install it and it should work fine. The link  to this page is down below. What I want you to do is just go here, click to download this latest  version. Go and install this on your computer. And then we're going to run Claude after. I'm going to  go and open up terminal again. And I'm just going to type Claude in here and hit enter. And look  at that. We're ready to set up. And our next step will be logging in. But let me show you on a Mac  real quick. All right. I'm just back on the get SEM page and I'm just going to go over to the Mac.  And how I did it on my Mac is I actually installed Homebrew first if you don't have it. So go ahead  and copy this. And you're going to need to open up Terminal on Mac, which is your uh command plus  spacebar together. And then that's going to open up terminal. And once you open that up, just paste  what you've just copied into it and hit enter. So, this is going to run through and install Homebrew.  After that, just go back over to where you see Homebrew here. And then you can copy this and open  up terminal again with the command spa spacebar.
7
When terminal opens back up again, all you're  going to need to do is paste that code into it and hit enter. And it's going to go through and  run Claude code on here. It won't take too long.
8
When it's all done, you can type  claude at the end just like I did with the Windows. And you can see that it  will open up and we can go through setup.
9
Now, the first step is to pick our textile. I'm  just going to leave it at dark mode. I just hit enter. Now, it's asking us uh to connect to our  subscription. So, for me, this is just number one. I'm going to go ahead and hit enter again.  My browser came up. It connects. Pops it open. All I have to do is authorize this. You can see that  I'm logged in successfully and I'm just going to hit enter. A few security notes. I'm going to hit  enter again. And I am going to trust this folder.
10
So I'm going to put number one and hit enter. And  I am going to keep the effort level with number one. Use the high effort. But you can see you  can also adjust this later. If you get any other errors during installation, the simplest fix is to  copy the error message and paste it into regular claud.ai. It usually can tell you exactly what to  do. All right, here we go. First, I'm just going to go open up my terminal and type in claude to  start cla. So, we can go to terminal and all we need to do now is just type claude. Better spell  it correctly. And it's asking again to trust the folder. I'm just going to hit enter. All right,  we're all ready. Now, here's the beautiful thing.
11
I don't need to create any folders or type any  special commands. I can tell Claude what I want in plain English, and it will handle everything for  me, including setting up the project folder. Watch this. Now, before I ask Claude to build anything,  I'm going to use plan mode first. Remember, shift plus tap. This way, Claude will think through  the project before writing any code. Here's what I'm going to type. And I want you to notice  something. I'm telling it to create the folder, set up the project, and build the app. All in  one plain English prompt. No commands, no jargon, just describing what I want. Here's the prompt  that I'm going to use. And again, it will be down below in the description if you want to copy  mine. Create a new folder on my desktop called my bookmarks app. Then build me a personal bookmark  dashboard as a single htm file inside it. Here's what it should do. It should let me save bookmarks  with a title, URL, category, optional notes, display all bookmarks as a nicel lookinging cards  in a grid layout. Include a search bar that filter bookmarks as title and category. Let me filter by  category using clickable buttons. Save everything to the browser local storage to so bookmarks  persist. Include small sample bookmarks so it doesn't look empty when it first loads. Make it  looks modern and clean with a blue color scheme.
12
Let me delete bookmarks I don't want anymore. Make  it responsive so it works on mobile, too. Now, before I go and put the prompt in, I'm just going  to hit shift and tab one more time. Notice that it wasn't on plan mode. And now, I'm going to go  and paste those lines of text in and hit enter.
13
I can see right now it says I'll plan this out  and write up the approach. So since this is a new project from scratch with clear requirements,  I can go straight to the designing the plan. So here's the plan. Now if I didn't have that on,  if I didn't have plan mode on, it would just would have went through and created the whole  thing. So if you want to see all the steps that are going to be happening, if it has the right  structure, the bookmark design of what you want, you can go through and check the plan first. So  you can see down below, yes, clear context, and I can accept that. Uh, yes, auto accept edits. Yes,  manually approve edits. So, I'm actually going to go uh to number two on this one to auto accept  edits. Now, the folder was created. I'll just drag it a little bit closer. All right. So, Claude just  built our entire BookBark dashboard app. I can see there's something in the folder right now. We'll  check it out in a second. I want to I'm really curious about it. I'm just going to ask Claude  to open it for me. I could go to the folder and double click on it and open it up, but I just want  to see what I can get Claude to do for me. So, I'm going to say open the app in my browser so I  can see it. And I'm going to go to number two so it doesn't ask me this anymore. And it just popped  up on my other window. Look at this. We have a beautiful bookmark dashboard. There's a search  at the top. We have category filter buttons. And our sample bookmarks are showing up here as nice  cards. Let me test some things out. Let's test out the search first. I'm just going to go in here  and start typing. I know there's only six in here, but if I start typing CSS. All right, that seems  to be very responsive. We'll try free. Yep, right away. So, we have the buttons. Let's see  what happens. Oh, very good. Everything. So, that's all working fine. What happens if I hit the  X here? Do you want to delete a bookmark? Sure, why not? Okay, so that's deleted. So, now I just  need to test this out by adding one. Let's go add bookmark. All right, I just quickly typed some  things out. Just my own YouTube channel URL, category. Let's see if it creates a category.  We have some notes. Let's hit save. So, here it is right here. And now I have YouTube.  So, it's very responsive, very quick. Now, here's the really cool part. I'm just going to  hit refresh. And all my bookmarks are still there.
14
That's because Claude built it to save everything  to local storage just like I asked. Here's where things get really interesting. Let's say I want to  add a feature. I can just go back to Claude Code and ask for it. Let me try something fun. So,  I have some prompts ready here and there's two lines and you're going to see it in a second. So,  I'll hit enter. So, can you add two more features to the bookmark app? I want to an edit button  on each card so I can update the title, URL, or category. And I also want to toggle for dark  mode. Now, watch what's happening. Claude didn't start over. It read the existing file, understood  the entire structure, and now surgically adding the new features. An edit button on each card, a  dark and a dark mode toggle. This is the power of Claude Code. It understands context. Here's the  moment of truth. I'm just going to get it to open it again. All right, brought it over here. So,  what were some of the things that we asked? Well, first of all, dark mode. I like how they put  the little moon up here. So, let's toggle. Well, that works really well. Toggle off on. And we now  have the edit with each of these. So if I click edit now, it opens back up again. So I can quickly  make any changes. We just built a fully functional bookmark dashboard app with search categories,  add, edit, delete, local storage, dark mode, and we did it all just by describing what we  wanted in plain English. No coding required.
15
Before we wrap up, let me share some tips that  will save you a lot of time as you start using Claude Code on your own. Tip one, be specific in  your prompts. The more detail you give Claude, the better your results will be. Instead of  saying, "Make me a website," say, "Make me a single page website with a header, three sections,  a contact form, and a blue color scheme." Being specific will be your friend. Tip two, use  the plan mode for bigger projects. Remember, shift plus tab for plan mode. If you're building  something with multiple features, always start in plan mode. Let Claude show you its thinking  before it starts coding. It's like reviewing the blueprint before construction starts. Tip  three, iterate. Don't start over. If something isn't quite right, don't start from scratch. Just  tell Claude what to fix. Say the search bar isn't filtering correctly. Can you fix it? Or can you  make the cards bigger? Claude remembers the entire project and can make targeted changes. Tip four,  paste errors back to Claude if something breaks, and things will occasionally break. That's just  normal. Just copy the error message and paste it back into the cloud code saying, "I'm getting this  error. Can you fix it?" Nine times out of 10, it will fix it immediately. Tip five, ask Claude to  explain if you're curious about what Claude built.
16
Just ask. Say, "Can you explain how the search  feature works or walk me through what this code does? It's a fantastic learning tool, not just a  building tool." Tip six, use forward/compact for a long sessions. If you've been working with Claude  for a while and it starts to slow down or lose track, just type forward/compact. This clears up  the memory while keeping important context. Think of it as a quick refresh. And that's it. Look  at what we accomplished today. We went from an empty folder to a fully functional, good-looking  bookmark dashboard app with search, categories, dark mode, and the whole thing. And we did it  entirely by talking to Claude Code in plain English. If you're someone who has always been  curious about building things with technology but felt like coding was a barrier, I hope this video  has shown you that the barrier is coming down.

Tools like Claude Code are making it possible  for anyone to bring their ideas to life. Thanks for watching this week on Teachers Tech. I'll see  you next time with more tech tips and tutorials.

Contesto e Sfondo

Ad esempio, modifica "Can you build a web app for me?" in "Would you be able to create a web application for me?"
