Miranda, welcome to Quick Chats with Cam.
2
Thanks for having me, Cam.
3
I'm so excited to have you.
4
As a fan of Cora, I am blown away by how early you guys entered the clean beauty space.
5
So I would love to know what inspired the decision behind creating Cora.
6
Like what led you to clean beauty?
7
Well, it's a very personal decision.
8
So when I was a teenager, my mom was diagnosed with tumors in her spleen.
9
So as a family, we really had to look very deeply into what we weren't only eating, but also what we're applying to our skin.
10
and we were shocked to see how many unnecessary ingredients that were available and on the market.
11
And what we found out is that what you put on your skin soaks in.
12
And so we went in a search for certified organic ingredients, just like we started eating certified organic.
13
You do so because you get up to 60% more antioxidants when you eat certified organic.
14
Not only do you not get the unnecessary chemicals sprayed on the crops,
15
but also in the formulation you're getting as pure and potent ingredients when you use certified organic so yes we were ahead of the
16
clean beauty game but we're so much more than what clean will ever be because we're certified organic so we have to jump through so many holes and regulatory
17
things all our manufacturers and obviously all of our ingredients sourcing all of the words on our packaging, everything has to be approved and audited by a third party, EcoCert Cosmos.
18
And not only that, we're also a climate neutral brand.
19
That's incredible.
20
And as you said, it's like this has been like a 19 year journey for me.
21
And I really, truly believe with all of my heart that healthy skin is the most beautiful skin.
22
I mean, I can tell you right now, looking at your skin is freaking stunning.
23
So the products work.
24
You guys have quite an extensive like skew line.
25
What would you say is the product you're the most proud of?
26
oof it's like trying to pick a favorite child i put my whole heart and soul into creating every single product for
27
different needs specifically the newest product we just launched is the turmeric glow drops which works on minimizing
28
pores which we all want minimize pores and brightening the skin we've also got incredible products that are retinol alternatives so what Pregnancy safe?
29
Yes, pregnancy safe.
30
So what we asked is diehard retinol fans, try my products, which is a plant stem cell retinol alternative, and let me know if you get better results from using traditional retinol or my products.
31
It was like 85% came back and said they got better results using my products.
32
Okay, well, I'm switching over.
33
Without the irritation, without the dryness, and in a way that was like super powerful, but good for all skin types.
34
As someone who was such a famous model for so long, was there a defining moment where you knew you wanted to expand your career beyond modeling?
35
I've always kind of had that business mindset and I've learned so much of being in the industry for so
36
long from like marketing and campaigns and all the editorials and working with some of the most incredible makeup artists and hairdressers and whatnot.
37
I learned a lot of tips on how to prep your skin.
38
And so I applied a lot of that knowledge into my own business.
39
And I get to work with some of the best chemists in the world and give them the feedback that I've learned and incorporate their feedback.
40
And then incorporate the knowledge that I've gathered from becoming a health coach and studying nutrition.
41
And so it's been really fun to create products and use ingredients that are good for you internally and also externally.
42
So that's what we really should be aware of.
43
And when you're pregnant, they try to say to you, be aware of that.
44
But we shouldn't only be aware of that when we're pregnant.
45
This is something we should be aware of at all times.
46
I was thinking about that the other day, actually.
47
Because I had to change out my whole skincare when I was pregnant.
48
And then I kind of went back.
49
And I'm like, well, if it's not okay when I'm pregnant, why is it okay now?
50
It's not.
51
Speaking of pregnancy, you are a mom of four boys.
52
I am.
53
How has your approach to life and work shifted after becoming a mother?
54
Well, I'd have to say I get up earlier.
55
So then I have that time for myself in the morning.
56
Key.
57
Because to me, like if I give myself a good hour and a half before they wake up, I get to do my meditation, my yoga, my skincare routine, and feel centered and grounded before the beautiful chaos begins with the kids.
58
And I love it.
59
It's madness.
60
And it's not always going to be this way.
61
Right now I've got a one and a half year old, a six year old, a seven year old and a 14 year old.
62
So I'm really in the in the midst of the madness.
63
But I'm really trying to find that ease and grace in the messy moments and not feel like everything has to be perfect because I am a little bit of a perfectionist.
64
So just trying to find that kind of harmony and grace in this situation that is pretty wild.
65
Yeah.
66
It's a pretty wild house.
67
It's wild.
68
As someone who has a wide age gap between your youngest and your oldest, do you feel like your approach to motherhood has shifted over the years?
69
Because I just even compare myself as a first-time mom versus a second-time mom, and I feel like I'm a completely different person, even though it was just like two and a half years apart.
70
Well, one thing my grandma always taught me, and I really understand it more now than ever, and that is routine is so important with children.
71
And when I had my first son, Flynn, I was like, oh, what does she mean?
72
He's so flexible.
73
He just comes with me everywhere.
74
And, you know, it was very, it wasn't as routine as my next three children are.
75
And what I do notice is she was right.
76
Like, they feel safe in that routine.
77
They feel safe knowing what's coming next.
78
They feel safe in that, yeah, they just.
79
Stability.
80
Stability.
81
and every day they know that we're going to be eating dinner at 4 30 p.m i'm like early early i thought i
82
was early at five yeah 4 30 p.m sometimes we push it to five but ideally 4 30 p.m just the kids and i
83
because evan's still at work and then um i we go for like a quick little walk and then we do bath time books and then baby goes to bed around 6 6 30
84
and then the boys are in bed by 7.30 and then their older brother's in bed by 9.30.
85
I was going to say, there's no way you're getting that kid in bed at 7.30.
86
No, I mean, I wish, but I go to bed around 9.30 too.
87
Living a very similar night routine, to be honest.
88
And then up like between 4.30 and 5 a.m.
89
every day.
90
Wow, okay.
91
You've got me there.
92
I have learned through like consuming a lot of your content that you are a big believer in gratitude and affirmations and manifesting.
93
Do you practice those things with your children as well?
94
I do.
95
And my children, the three older boys, obviously not the baby, but all have a mantra.
96
They got, they learned from my teacher, a Vedic meditation practice.
97
And so they each have their mantra.
98
And what we do in the morning on the way to school is I say, what are three things you're grateful for?
99
And now let's, I'll keep the time.
100
And you can, after we say what we're grateful for, we then do our meditation.
101
And it was recommended to me that however old they are is the amount of minutes they should do with their meditation.
102
So six-minute meditation for miles, seven minutes for heart, and ideally 14 minutes for Flynn.
103
I didn't know that.
104
I love that.
105
We do a gratitude practice at night with our four-year-olds.
106
Our almost two-year-old is not quite grasping it yet, but our four-year-old, and he says the cutest things now.
107
Like he's actually aware of what a gratitude practice is.
108
And I just want to record every single time he says them because I'm like, you're just, you're utterly perfection.
109
And then at nighttime, like, because we pray before we eat just to have gratitude for our meal and to bless the food and bless all the people in the world that need, you know, God's help.
110
And that is something that they really enjoy.
111
And then we say prayers before bed as well.
112
But in addition to that, we talk about what was your rose for the day?
113
What was your thorn?
114
And then sometimes they're like, but I have a little bud as well.
115
I love the bud.
116
Yeah.
117
I love the bud.
118
It's like we do grateful and excited.
119
So the excited is kind of the bud.
120
Yeah.
121
From an outsider's perspective, you seem to have a very strong co-parenting experience with your oldest son.
122
I would love any advice you have for people who are on the co-parenting journey.
123
Well, I think at the end of the day, we're all human.
124
And if it's not working for you and your partner and the best thing in the interest of the family is for you to not be together, right?
125
And you've made that decision consciously as a couple, then I really feel like being respectful to each other is so important and giving each other the love and respect that I believe every human deserves because you're gonna be family no matter what if you have children together.
126
And the more harmonious it can be between the two of you the more harmonious it is for the child or children and to
127
me that's the ultimate goal is just have harmony within the family and I think forgiveness is key forgiving yourself forgiving others being
128
kind to yourself being kind to others is so important and that is just transformational when you can forgive someone for something they've done that may have
129
upset you and forgive yourself for something you may have done, then I think it helps start that clean slate and then move forward.
130
And ideally, they can do that same forgiveness.
131
Like I forgive you, please forgive me.
132
Let's forgive each other.
133
Let's be at peace with each other.
134
Let's be at peace with ourselves.
135
Let's love each other.
136
Let's love ourselves.
137
Thank you, God.
138
Amen.
139
Yeah.
140
That's like a good start.
141
It's very impressive.
142
And I'm sure your child is incredibly grateful.
143
I want to do a few fast questions.
144
Okay.
145
Yeah.
146
Favorite wellness trend right now?
147
I mean, I don't know if it's a trend, but I mean, I'm obsessed with my aura ring.
148
Okay.
149
We can call that a trend.
150
It's newer.
151
I love like tracking data.
152
I also love like red light therapy.
153
Me too.
154
Yeah.
155
I'm big on my red light mask.
156

157

158

159

160

162

167

168

169
say probably to maintain the routines with the children because they really thrive in a routine environment one item that you'll never leave the house without
170

172
noni glow face oil so I think together you you've got that glow and go going on and it's Perfect.
173
Yeah.
174
It's a great gift for the holidays.
175

176

177

178

179

180

181
Oh, well, I've got it back for you.
182
Especially when I was researching, I was like, no, no, no, I need to be better about my clean skin care.
183
So thank you for everything that you're doing and for coming on.
184
Thank you for having me.

  • Domande retoriche: “Well, it’s a very personal decision.”
  • Uso di connettivi: Frasi come “Not only do you not get the unnecessary chemicals…” dimostrano la complessità della struttura delle frasi.
  • Frasi condizionali: “If it’s not okay when I'm pregnant, why is it okay now?”

  • Focalizzarsi sull'intonazione: L'intonazione nella frase “We were ahead of the clean beauty game” è altrettanto importante.
