1
So Adobe just released a brand new feature.
2
It's called Open Eyes, and it will literally allow you to open your eyes if they're closed in a photo, which is crazy.
3
It uses AI, of course.
4
It's going to use credits, of course.
5
But the big question is, does it actually work?
6
Does it look good?
7
So I tested it on my own eyes, and the answer is kind of.
8
Let's go ahead and jump in and show you how to use it.
9
All right, so this feature just launched.
10
It's only available on Lightroom Mobile, but here you can see I have several different photos of me from a recent tutorial recording
11
and in this case my eyes are closed
12
So it's a perfect candidate.
13
Let's go ahead and click on it
14
Now it's gonna analyze your photo on the very bottom and you can see if your eyes are closed
15
Which in this case obviously they are you're gonna have a new icon that says open eyes
16
So when I click on open eyes, it's gonna analyze a photo and allow me to generate open eyes
17
This is not going to be using Firefly it will be using partner models and it does use 20 credits.
18
So let's go ahead and click on generate.
19
Now the cool thing here that I like a lot is it finds reference photos.
20
So notice I had three photos earlier.
21
It's going to take a look at those to try to match them as best it possibly can,
22
taking a look at not only my eyes but the lighting in the scene too.
23
So it's reading the photo
24
and then here at the very end you saw just for a second it uses Nano Banana 2
25
and here we go those are my eyes.
26
I'm going to long press on this to go ahead and see closed and open.
27
Not only did it open my eyes, I look more surprised now, I guess.
28
Most of my face did not change.
29
I mean, this is just an actual hoot doing this.
30
Most of my face did not change when I do this, but my eyebrows did go up, which is really interesting.
31
Now, let's go ahead and click on the checkbox on the bottom right and zoom in and we'll see,
32
hey, do these look like my actual eyes?
33
You're looking at me right now and you're looking at this photo.
34
What do you think?
35
Now let's go to the photo right before and see, let's zoom out here.
36
Let's see.
37
These are my actual eyes in the photograph.
38
Okay.
39
This is the before.
40
You can see the catch light.
41
You can see the colors.
42
And then here are my new UIs.
43
Honestly, they fit in pretty well.
44
The catch light looks good.
45
The color looks decent.
46
It didn't nail it, but the fact that you can do this with a click of a button is insane.
47
Now, if you don't like your results, guess what?
48
You get to spend an extra 20 credits.
49
So I'm going to hit back here.
50
We're going to just click on a reset.
51
Okay.
52
I'm going to go to reset all, and then we're going to do it again.
53
So let's just go ahead and click on my auto icon.
54
We're going to click on analyze and then I'm going to show you the second result so we can compare them.
55
So the results are in here is my second generation.
56
Totally insane.
57
In this case, it only opened my eyes and it did not move my eyebrows.
58
So now let's go ahead and take a look at my real eyes versus the first generation and the second generation.
59
So now that we've seen all three of these images side by side, what is your impression?
60
Now, to me, this is a pretty cool tool.
61
It uses 20 credits.
62
And maybe if you're really close to the image it's not going to be perfect,
63
but if someone's far away or in a group shot I think it does have some practical uses.
64
Now here's the interesting thing about credits.
65
When I tried this on the photo of myself it used 20 credits,
66
but when I loaded in a larger image 24 megapixels it actually used 40 credits.
67
Now here's the cool part,
68
when I added other photos from the same shoot Lightroom actually added a step to the process that said matching their eyes.
69
So it really does take all the other photos into account to create these people's eyes.
70
But here's the big question I want to know.
71
Would you use this on a picture of someone else without telling them and say that it passes for the real face?
72
So if you want to get more details about this brand new tool, go ahead and click on the link right down below.
73
We've written up a full article with details about this new tool,
74
including multiple different examples, how many credits we're going to be using and the AI behind it.
75
Alrighty, thanks so much for watching.
76
This was an eye -opening tutorial.
77
Bye.
78
Bye everyone.
