1
I've been consistently getting asked why my videos are not getting any views, why they're getting no impressions, and why they're just stuck without getting pushed into the algorithm.
2
So, In today's video I'm going to break down one of the most important topics
3
and questions that you should know because when doing YouTube automation you need to understand fundamentally how it all works, how the algorithm reacts, what it wants, what it doesn't want
4
and also by the end of the video I'm going to show you something that I almost guarantee nobody here knows.
5
It is the one thing that could be withholding you from getting
6
so many more views and also could be hindering you from ever going viral
7
and if you don't know about this one secret little trick then it could actually be
8
making a lot of money and you spending a lot of money without making anything in return.
9
Now, some of you may know this, but I promise most of you will not.
10
So make sure to stick around to the end of the video
11
because I'm going to expose it in the next few minutes.
12
So let's start off with the main thing, which is what are impressions?
13
All right, let's just go straight to the basics.
14
All right, why are your contents getting no impressions, no views?
15
So an impression is essentially how many times your thumbnail was shown to somebody on YouTube.
16
So as you're scrolling up and down, you're giving random people impressions.
17
That is YouTube showing your content to someone else with the intention to be watched.
18
And if it's not watched, then it just counts as an impression and that's it.
19
Now, The impression is broken down into two different parts, which is the thumbnail and the title.
20
Right?
21
Now, mostly the title.
22
The title is really where YouTube decides...
23
where your video will go it's based on the metadata
24
and the metadata by the way is your title your description
25
and what's said in the first 30 seconds of your video
26
that's what consists of metadata right your title is essentially going to tell youtube where it should be placed
27
if it's going to be placed on the home screen
28
if it's going to be placed on a suggested on the search your title is the metadata
29
which determines where your videos go right
30
so now from there you're The next metric that's important is the click through rate, the CTR.
31
This is essentially how often somebody seen your video on their screen, and actually clicked on it to watch.
32
That's the click through rate.
33
So the rate at which someone sees the content and actually decides to watch it.
34
Now, Those are the basics, the fundamentals.
35
Many of you guys already knew this.
36
That's fine.
37
Let's move into the next thing, which is understanding how YouTube actually shares our content.
38
It's so important to understand how YouTube works because many people will look at YouTube and say, okay, I'm being punished.
39
My content's not going anywhere.
40
Something's wrong with my channel.
41
Actually, let's take a.. detour here.
42
I've heard down the grapevine that some people have been talking about the methodology of posting 15 videos.
43
And then once those 15 videos are posted, if you don't have any traction, say you don't get over a thousand views or something, you should scrap the channel.
44
delete the videos and create 15 more and just keep doing this and repeating the cycle until
45
something works or something like that that is the most insane thing
46
that i've ever heard that is basically like trying to completely avoid
47
taking responsibility for your content not being good enough for YouTube to get shown.
48
All right. That is...
49
The worst possible thing that you can do.
50
Because truthfully, when I try and diagnose why a channel is not working, the last thing I look at is, is the channel broken?
51
That is literally like the last, last, last case scenario.
52
You need to realize that your content is not getting shown for many different reasons, whether it's the topic, the timing of the topic, the thumbnail, the title, the intro,
53
the overall editing, the script format.
54
There's so many variables that are actually mattering versus I posted 15 videos,
55
they didn't not mine.
56
You realize how that's such a backwards way of thinking and it's literally just revoking and relinquishing, taking any responsibility for your content not being the right kind of content.
57
That should go viral.
58
Right now there are some circumstances where you post.
59
insanely high quality content it's it's amazing there's no reason for it not to go viral
60
that's a different story we can start reverse engineering that
61
and saying maybe there's something wrong with the youtube channel itself maybe there's something with the email
62
that you registered the account with maybe you had some stuff in the past
63
and youtube google is actually taking
64
that into account it's such a rare instance like a one percent situation why channel is not working
65
so if anyone is telling you to post 15 videos and if it's not working restart and
66
don't listen to that person straight up.
67
I don't care what anyone says.
68
Don't listen to those people.
69
They're just trying to rationalize in a much more simple way why something's not working versus working from the root
70
and breaking it down to identify the real issue.
71
But anyways, I digress.
72
Let's move on to how our content actually gets shared.
73
How does YouTube algorithm actually work and where does our content go?
74
Who does it get shown to?
75
And what is the whole process
76
going about doing youtube without actually realizing how it works right
77
how the algorithm works i'm going to show you with a
78
simple diagram by the way chachi pt thank you for the very very simple text to image display
79
so basically the way youtube shares views
80
and how it shares their content is by working in tiers
81
so as soon as you publish a video youtube will use the metadata
82
title description first 30 seconds of the video to identify what the video is about
83
and who it should be sent to right youtube is very
84
very intelligent they know exactly who your ideal customer is who your ideal viewer is
85
because youtube has data on us youtube knows more about us than we know about ourselves
86
because it's owned by google
87
and google knows all of our viewing behaviors our buying behaviors they know
88
so they basically grab all that data
89
and then use it to find your ideal viewer that's essentially how that works now
90
You will start off in a small tier.
91
YouTube will unlock a specific amount of impressions to your videos for it to get seen.
92
Based on the performance of those impressions, it will determine if you unlock the next tier.
93
So the performance being, Your video was shown to a group of people.
94
Did those people?
95
A. Click on your video.
96
B. Engage with the video. And C.
97
Continue watching more content.
98
right those are three indicators of you being able to unlock a larger tier right
99
that is as simple as it gets now youtube will continue to unlock more and more tiers
100
as it continues to perform well.
101
But the caveat here is that if it doesn't perform well, that is when you see a flatline.
102
That's how the YouTube algorithm works.
103
It continues to show more and more and more tiers based on performance of the specific tiers that you're in now.
104
So it just unlocks a larger and larger and larger audience group.
105
until your video ends up going viral in the largest audience group
106
and goes into the millions and millions and millions but even at
107
that point you can reach a very high tier
108
and still end up flatlining
109
because at the larger largest tier maybe your audience ends up
110
not engaging with the content the way it did before and it flatlines now
111
This doesn't mean that the video is dead if the video flatlines, right?
112
There's still things that we can do, something that we call active optimization, right?
113
Taking content and actively optimizing it.
114
So essentially changing the thumbnails, changing the titles, working backwards and trying to identify what went wrong.
115
If the video itself underperformed, meaning the average variation was very, very small, That already means that the video was just unlikely to go viral.
116
But if it got a lot of average view duration, right?
117
If you got like 30, 40 % plus, but the click -through rate was very low.
118
That means there's still an opportunity for the video to go viral.
119
You can easily save and salvage that video, right?
120
Just fix the click -through rate, improve the thumbnail, improve the title, right?
121
So that is exactly how this algorithm works.
122
Many of you did not know this, right?
123
And you need to know this.
124
You need to understand how this game works.
125
If you're going to play it, you can't just play a game without understanding the rules.
126
right so i want to share this diagram now i'm gonna get into something very very very interesting okay
127
I'm going to show you guys restricted mode.
128
This is a new feature that has come out from YouTube very recently.
129
And it has really made a big, big impact on new channels and just existing channels as well, but specifically new ones, right?
130
Because YouTube needs to understand where they should push your content.
131
And is it even appropriate for viewers?
132
If you're going into niches like celebrity, like police chases, car crashes, this is very risky content,
133
anything to do with drugs, sex, paraphernalia.
134
accidents, violence, violence, You need to be very, very careful because YouTube has automatically enabled this restricted mode for everybody.
135
right this means that your content is not actually going to get shown to everybody until you're you pass clearance, right?
136
Until you can show YouTube that the content that you're posting is within the terms of service.
137
And then when you're ranking your content, you're ranking it accordingly, right?
138
Because if you say there's no violence in your content, But there is, YouTube knows, and they're going to start valuating your channel lower and lower and lower, showing your content to less people.
139
That's how that works.
140
So especially as a brand new channel, they don't know who you are.
141
They don't trust you.
142
You have to gain trust.
143
Let me show you exactly what restricted mode is.
144
I'll read an article here first of all, and then I'll show you it in real time.
145
then i'll show it to you in real time
146
so youtube content in restricted mode all right restricted mode is
147
turned off by viewers on default now what does this mean
148
it works by basically giving viewers better control over the content
149
that they see this mode intentionally limits your youtube experience now
150
viewers can choose turn it on for their personal accounts
151
but it also may be turned off for like libraries schools
152
so all these other places where you're supposed to be could be getting views now How does it actually work?
153
There's two reasons why video could be unavailable
154
here's the key it's unavailable
155
when in restricted mode primarily the automated system checks signals like the video's metadata title
156
and language used in the video
157
and some videos may not be available in restricted mode because human reviewers applied in age restriction now
158
Let me break this down a little bit further.
159
This is the thing here.
160
Will my content be shown if viewers have restricted mode turned on?
161
Now videos that show potentially adult content won't be shown to viewers who have restricted mode turned on.
162
Drugs and alcohol, sexual situations, violence, mature subjects, profane and mature language, indecency and demeaning content.
163
this is the key all right and it's actually quite similar
164
but it's different than the age restricted content but this is one other filter that YouTube has added,
165
which actually restricts our abilities to get our videos shown to large audiences or audiences in general.
166
Like your videos will literally not show up on your page.
167
Let me show you an example.
168
All right, here's a new channel.
169
This is not mine.
170
here's a brand new channel that's posted all right six videos as you can see here six videos Boom.
171
to the naked eye it looks fine right but let's turn on Restricted Mode.
172
Only two videos.
173
This is what's withholding so many people from getting views.
174
They have no idea that they're being handicapped
175
and being rid of their opportunity to make views on YouTube simply
176
because their content is labeled as restricted and it will not tell you, you cannot go to the backend of YouTube and the analytics and look and see this is, this is restricted.
177
It doesn't tell you, it doesn't tell you.
178
So you just have to have this filter on to see what's happening and then reverse engineer those videos to see.
179
What made them restricted, right?
180
What can I not do in the future videos to, you know, not trigger the restricted content?
181
So this happens for lots of different issues.
182
You can see here, this channel has 22 videos and let's turn on restricted mode.
183
on this channel.
184
All right, so we have 4, 8, 12th.
185
That's it.
186
I'm at the bottom.
187
Only 12 videos.
188
So 10 videos are not being shown.
189
right now this one as well 11 videos let's turn on Restricted Mode.
190
we have four eight nine so only two videos it's actually not that bad this one as well 129 videos
191
I'll save you guys the counting.
192
If I turn this on, it's not 129.
193
It's like 40 videos, literally like 42 videos.
194
out of 129.
195
Half of this person's content is not getting shown.
196
Now, i want to make another public statement here it's not
197
that the content's not being shown it's never going to get shown the issue with restricted content is
198
that most people have it on without realizing and number two this means
199
that anyone who's not actually logged into a youtube account and registered
200
that they're over the age of 18 will not see your content it just doesn't get shown right
201
because youtube doesn't know how to actually rank it and whether that content's actually allowed on youtube so
202
This is just a very, very quick brief dive into how the algorithm works, what are impressions and why do they influence your channel and why you're not getting impressions,
203
the restricted mode and how the tier system works.
204
Again, a super basic breakdown, but it was a lesson that needed to be had because I've just been getting asked so many times, why is my content not getting pushed and how does the whole algorithm work?
205
So I figured I'd just create a super quick video, super short, and just break it all down for you guys.
206
Now, if you guys haven't already, I do encourage you to one, it is free.
207
And number two, I've given away an entire free course on how to actually
208
do YouTube automation the correct way with giving you tons of different niches, all my AI tools.
209
And we also host one free call a week, which I'm actually starting about to do two free calls every single week with me and my other coaches,
210
where we'll literally answer all your questions, breakdown channels, strategies, so much cool things.
211
And again, it's all free.
212
So link in the description for this.
213
And if you also want to work with me personally one -on -one, I'll have another link in book a call, see if it's a good fit.
214
It is a paid mentorship.
215
It is a four figure investment, but we guarantee all of it back within six months.
216
I'll see you guys on the next video.
