1
For the last five months, I've been fully transforming my room into my dream New York City apartment.
2
Going for a totally new and improved vibe.
3
At least that's what I'm thinking.
4
Because about every six months, I do a little room rearrange.
5
Just switching things around and making my room kind of feel new.
6
To kind of give me that feeling again of first moving into a new place and being excited.
7
But after three years of doing this with the same stuff, I decided let's just sell everything and start from scratch.
8
Okay, before I just show you guys my new and improved dream room, let me catch you guys up to speed.
9
My name is Luke, I live here in New York City and honestly, my dream apartment.
10
We live in a three bedroom modern style apartment with big windows, a lot of natural lights, a pretty cool view of New York City.
11
I have two roommates and we've lived here for about three years.
12
Before this, I lived in a New York City basement, which was honestly such a cool and unique place to live.
13
First time I fully tried to deck out my room.
14
I don't even know what I was doing.
15
I put down like, perf on the ground.
16
Definitely made a mistake when I had to leave.
17
It ripped up the whole paint on the ground.
18
I randomly drilled like, wood into the walls.
19
I had these like, pink and white kids mats.
20
I don't even know.
21
What I got from that is I just enjoy decorating or just like, transforming spaces.
22
So after a year of living there, I moved into this apartment, which I currently live in.
23
See!
24
Welcome to the new apartment.
25
And it's totally the opposite.
26
Big windows, a lot of natural lights, which I now appreciate and would rather have than the dungeon.
27
Cause sometimes people will be like, are you depressed in there?
28
Like it's so dark in there.
29
When I first moved into this apartment, I really wanted to decorate it, try to make it the best I could.
30
I don't know what this aesthetic or whatever is called, but I've been living in it and enjoying it for the past three years.
31
But now I feel like I want to change it up.
32
So I put together this mood board, more black, kind of like that industrial modern.
33
And overall, like my goal is just to minimize,
34
simplify everything because I feel like my room always gets so messy and so many little places to put cords and stuff.
35
So I want to keep it minimal and like hide everything and just make it like clean.
36
So that is the goal, which leads me to step number one.
37
We got to get rid of some stuff.
38
The old blueprint.
39
This was Luke's new room, but is now old.
40
I think it's time for this guy to go.
41
We've had a good run.
42
We're changing up the rug, and I think it's needed.
43
It's pretty dirty now.
44
It's been three years used to...
45
We are taking down the infamous grass wall.
46
It's time to go.
47
And these wooden things.
48
These also have stood strong and have not come off yet, even though they're kind of sketchy.
49
But we're taking them out.
50
The grass wall is pretty cool.
51
I think I'm just over it for having it for so long.
52
These were cool though.
53
I've never seen these or like I couldn't buy them online
54
so I just got like this wood and just screwed it in and then just twisted it into the wall.
55
Oh, okay.
56
Forgot this stuff over here.
57
Kinda ugly.
58
I might gotta fix that.
59
It looks so white and bare.
60
All right, we're getting rid of this desk set up a lot of space in this room.
61
I feel like I don't even sand.
62
I don't even use that.
63
It's just big.
64
All right, we just found this table on Facebook Marketplace.
65
Looks pretty sick.
66
It's kind of like a modern, slightly retro.
67
I think it'll work really well.
68
I'm not sure if this is a duke.
69
I tried to Google search it.
70
A thousand dollars for the original.
71
I don't know if this is the original, but they use the same photos.
72
This is where I'm imagining the table.
73
That's kind of it.
74
Next thing you know, we made it to Brooklyn.
75
In the snow.
76
Apparently this is the house.
77
I don't know how I'm gonna get it into an Uber.
78
Somehow we got this heavy glass table into the Uber.
79
But on my way back to Manhattan, the table was shaking like crazy.
80
Not gonna lie, I was kinda scared, cause it's glass.
81
But eventually, we made it.
82
Alright, we made it in the elevator.
83
Hopefully I didn't scuff it, I think it's fine.
84
Probably the worst day to carry something like this.
85
Oh, this is so heavy.
86
I feel like I have a lot of dust back there.
87
What do they think?
88
I wanna say it's pretty nice.
89
Like I definitely go for that minimal feel.
90
As I was taking down these storage shelves, I realized I never really used it for storage.
91
It's kind of more just clutter.
92
So I needed something a little better.
93
Kind of like this guy.
94
Come with me.
95
This is the inspo.
96
Shout out Kelly.
97
He's not home right now.
98
He's got one.
99
But look, he's got all his camera gear like really nicely done everywhere.
100
As we saw my room before, it needs some help.
101
So let's unbox and build this thing.
102
Okay guys.
103
YAAAGH!
104
Sheeeey!
105
That's a nice and we like- OOOOOOOH!
106
OOOOOOOH!
107
Room is in progress.
108
We're doing good.
109
I think it's finally time that I get a new phone.
110
This is my iPhone 13.
111
It is cracked.
112
It is Spider-Man edition.
113
I've had this since like 2021.
114
I think we're gonna upgrade.
115
So I went to the Apple store, picked up a new phone.
116
With this brand new phone, I'm like, definitely should get a case.
117
So my friends at Burgas said they got me.
118
They just sent me a bunch of goodies and actually got to pick up some custom cases from their men's line.
119
Ooh, this is kind of no pressure vibes.
120
And we're going green.
121
A little more simple, not too crazy, but still cool.
122
I feel like I have like three requirements when I'm binding a case.
123
One, it looks cool.
124
Two, I don't like when the cases are like too bulky.
125
And then another main one is that sometimes a screen sticks out, which this one doesn't.
126
The camera isn't sticking out.
127
So if it falls, it's not gonna crack.
128
So I feel like now if I drop, we're good.
129
They also sent me a computer case.
130
I honestly didn't even think of ever really getting, which I should.
131
I feel like I'm such a clumsy person that I need everything I could get.
132
And they do a lot of cool like art collabs.
133
They also have other cool accessories.
134
If I'm like filming something, this always could come in handy.
135
So huge shout out to Berga for hooking it up
136
and for sponsoring this video and just honestly helping this room video come to life.
137
I feel like I've been wanting to do this for a while.
138
They're down to be like, yeah, get you right with your new phone.
139
You guys can actually use my code, LukeX15.
140
I'll put a QR code right here too, or you can check the link in the description.
141
You can get 15% off.
142
They're doing a deal too.
143
If you buy two phone cases, you could get two for free.
144
So pretty good deal.
145
Shout out, Virga, for helping your boy out.
146
Got my helper right here.
147
I'm trying to help him design it, but he doesn't want my help.
148
My girlfriend, Kyla, was in town, and I do actually think she has pretty good taste.
149
She was helping me out a little, and we're going out for some inspiration.
150
And after almost missing the train, Oh my god!
151
Oh my god!
152
Kyla getting scared by the New York City bush guy.
153
Oh my god!
154
Oh my god!
155
We made it to a store called Buck Mason, which I actually think is a clothing brand.
156
But the store has some pretty cool interior design and some good inspo for at least what I'm going for.
157
Some cool lighting, different kind of seating areas.
158
And overall I think my biggest takeaway is the different textures and materials they have, which I feel like gives it more character rather than kind of just a blank room, Which is kind of what I got right now.
159
I feel like I'm moving out.
160
The walls are empty.
161
Everything is empty.
162
Husky is looking nice.
163
Sold a lot of stuff.
164
The grass wall is gone.
165
A lot of stuff is gone.
166
Let me explain the vision.
167
So everything is white in here.
168
So I wanted to add some type of like wood.
169
I feel like I really like wood.
170
So my idea, and I've seen videos, and I'll put it on the screen, to make some type of wood paneling here
171
and just give it a little more character and a little more life rather than some white walls.
172
So I think that's gonna be our project for tonight and maybe tomorrow.
173
Another old depot run.
174
Look at all this stuff I got.
175
Somehow we got the wood.
176
I always feel like I want to bring wood into my apartment.
177
No one is home right now.
178
My room is too small, so I can't really fit it in there.
179
Today we're gonna be trying dark walnuts.
180
I've never done this.
181
I'm curious how it's gonna turn out, but let's just try it.
182
I've never stayed in wood before.
183
I'm totally gonna mess it up.
184
So I really didn't know what I was doing.
185
Oh, I don't know.
186
I'm not really sure if I did that right.
187
It's not great, it's not the worst.
188
Probably need to do multiple coats.
189
So after watching a couple more YouTube videos, I decided to keep going and just trust the process.
190
I definitely should have got a mask.
191
Oh, I ain't had to take it.
192
Good thing everyone's gone.
193
I moved everything around.
194
I don't know.
195
On camera it doesn't look bad, I don't think.
196
Also, it's like dark so you can't really see.
197
I think we gotta do one more coat.
198
Hopefully it'll dry, but it kind of smells in here.
199
It's the next day, and to my surprise, it's actually looking pretty good.
200
I guess we came home.
201
Hey guys, I leave for one week and Luke just decides I'm moving out.
202
I thought you were moving out at first, I was like, oh I guess Luke's moving.
203
This is what happens when your roommates leave and I'm just like, I'm kind of bored, seeing things up.
204
I have these like light poles that I use, they're called very poles, but usually they go up and down, but I'm using it to mount so it holds in place while I nail.
205
It's honestly working pretty good.
206
I got two panels up right now.
207
Can't reach much higher now You better leave it You can look at the clouds fly by Come on and rest
208
Kind of looks good.
209
Let's see.
210
We'll just keep it there for now.
211
Alright, this one I thought I did enough staining.
212
I had to do more.
213
Damn, boy!
214
Boy is cooked!
215
Look, he's staining wood every single day.
216
Spend so much time.
217
I think they will look good.
218
And I'm using these bowls.
219
Look at my frickin' bed!
220
And this is falling up.
221
After two weeks of doing this.
222
So much staining, so much cutting.
223
It's finally done.
224
EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE You have to work on this for like so long.
225
Yeah.
226
But it looks good dude.
227
Was it worth it?
228
I don't know if it's- I mean...
229
You doing this in a rental property is great.
230
We got this new like acrylic board.
231
Plan is to put it right there.
232
It's gonna be like the no pressure hub workstation.
233
I don't know.
234
This is what I call the tape method.
235
I don't know where I saw this.
236
Maybe on TikTok or something?
237
I don't know.
238
We mark the holes.
239
We got three holes where I'm supposed to drill.
240
The holes should line up.
241
Nice.
242
Now we drill and hope for the best.
243
Alright, now look.
244
You remove the tape.
245
Perfect alignment.
246
Okay.
247
Oh no. It's a little off.
248
Alright, this was the vision, that's the execution.
249
Lola and Shirley coming along.
250
The only thing I'm worried about is at night I'm sleeping and this just slams down.
251
Honestly, I think it should be good.
252
It's in there pretty good.
253
Okay, we're at IKEA and I brought a special guest.
254
My little brother.
255
My girlfriend Kyla was back in town
256
and we made a quick trip to IKEA because I needed to pick up a rug.
257
Hey, you got the meatballs?
258
We got the big old rug.
259
Somehow we made it back to the city.
260
Gotta get this bad boy home in the room.
261
This is what sucks about New York is that you don't get a car.
262
Whatever you can carry, that's what you get.
263
When we got home, we started setting up the rug, but I wasn't too sure if I liked it.
264
Oh, that looks so good!
265
Wait, that's so cute!
266
I think Kazi had to hide it up because I'd be like, what the...
267
Oh!
268
That's not what I super envisioned.
269
Isn't that kind of cute?
270
That looks really cool, you can't lie.
271
Wait, come here.
272
I'll rock with a dick.
273
Whoa, what?
274
Okay, we're in a tough spot.
275
I'm not sure.
276
I don't think it looks bad.
277
That's what it's giving like cowboy-y.
278
I think it's too cowboy-y to be in New York, maybe.
279
You know, it's like, oh, this is my cow again.
280
Honestly, after spending like over $400 on these rugs, the room was not really what I was envisioning, and I wasn't really sure where to go from here.
281
But you know what they say, no pressure.
282
Just keep going.
283
And the more I hung up, it was actually starting to look pretty good.
284
Alright, working on this part of the room.
285
These are two shelves from Ikea.
286
I think they're going to be pretty cool.
287
So it's a building.
288
It's a building.
289
It's a building.
290
It's a building.
291
We're going for a steel color to match the husky and just have hints of silver.
292
It gets too cluttered.
293
Then I could only open the door and go there.
294
Not the worst, but I just want to put some stuff on there.
295
Then I feel like it'll look better.
296
More accessories.
297
More stuff.
298
Whoa.
299
So it's actually for a plant, but my idea is to hang it right here and put stuff in it.
300
A hundred dollars worth?
301
Damn, that's a hundred dollars?
302
That's what I'm saying.
303
You got scams!
304
Even with the huskiness?
305
Stay alive.
306
Uh, uh, uh.
307
Alright.
308
We hung it up.
309
I'm not sure.
310
I got blue bed sheets because I just had white before but I was like, it's kind of cool to spice it up.
311
I was just putting them on.
312
I feel like I got to make it look nicer.
313
I don't know.
314
It's just taking so long to do this room, but it's still fun.
315
Okay, I'm not rocking with these blue bed sheets.
316
They kind of remind me of a hospital bed.
317
And to make it even worse, my command strip job did not do very good.
318
This is the video that my roommate Ari sent me of my shelf falling on my husky desk.
319
This room transformation is taking over your boy's life.
320
I'm not the loser of all Dreaming Can't get no sleep at all At all
321
At all Need it More sleep We got more stuff
322
It's never ending.
323
We got some lights.
324
Hopefully this will make it like the mood better.
325
All right, finally, I swear this has been like six months in the making.
326
It was literally snowing out in some of these clips.
327
I don't know why this took so long.
328
The room is finally at a state where I'm like, I'm pretty hyped how it turned out.
329
This wall I feel like turned out pretty good.
330
The silver IKEA shelves and then I kind of just put random stuff that I had, try to keep it neat and organized and then shout out Brennan.
331
He literally just made this painting.
332
I had all these up there and then I just thought it was like too much.
333
Then we go over here This is a no pressure creative studio.
334
New chair, new desk, monitor setup, the acrylic board I feel like this section actually turned out pretty good
335
and then I have these things they're called varipoles
336
But then I was able to put this light up rather than having a tripod
337
and it's hooked my oh That is really bright.
338
So if I'm filming here, that looks good.
339
No light, light, you know working with it And then we'll move on to the bed area.
340
Ikea donut lamp.
341
I tried to put all these cord organizers in.
342
It kind of took a while, but I think it looks better than just a cord.
343
And I had those blue sheets.
344
Those were honestly really ugly, and it looked like a hospital bed.
345
Returned those so quick.
346
Didn't realize sheets are literally $300.
347
Even this painting I got was pretty expensive.
348
This area, I'm like, hmm.
349
Can't really see the shell thing over here.
350
I think it still turned out cool.
351
And then I have the projector hooked up.
352
I don't know what's playing right now.
353
Michael Jackson.
354
Had to keep the togo and then I actually picked up these speakers
355
that I gotta figure out how to wire It just looks cool
356
and then I could just pretend that I play the guitar I always forget
357
because I did the wood paneling so long ago
358
But I'm actually really excited how the wood paneling turned out even added like this lighting on top
359
Which I feel like definitely helps the mood All these little lights I control it on the app.
360
This is no lighting But
361
when you just add a teeny bit of mood lighting looks nice And even if you want to go orange, if you're really trying to work.
362
But I feel like I kind of like the orangish tone.
363
This fell on my husky desk and if you look really close, it really chipped it up.
364
It's okay.
365
So I had to drill that in.
366
Silver lighting theme.
367
I was trying to go silver, black, industrial, modern.
368
And then the tool chest.
369
That's not super organized.
370
I feel like this took so long to do.
371
But honestly, it was a fun project.
372
I'm excited how it turned out.
373
I'm not sure how much longer we're gonna be living here, but for the time being, it's hype.

文脈の中の文法と表現

  • 「I've been fully transforming...」:現在完了進行形を使って、長期間続けている行動を表しています。「~している最中で、まだ続いている」というニュアンスがあり、変化の過程を強調します。
  • 「let's just sell everything and start from scratch」:「let's」で提案をし、「start from scratch」は「ゼロから始める」というイディオムです。日常会話で計画を話す際によく使われ、自然な表現を覚えることができます。
  • 「which I now appreciate and would rather have than the dungeon」:「would rather... than...」
