1
Three nurses were walking to a hospital for a job interview.
2
Then suddenly, they saw a woman in labor beside the road.
3
Her husband was panicking.
4
No cars, no help.
5
The man rushed toward them.
6
Thank God, your nurses!
7
Please help me!
8
My wife is in labor!
9
One nurse frowned.
10
We're already late for an interview.
11
People like you always wait until the last minute.
12
The man kept pleading.
13
Please, a life is at stake!
14
The second nurse scoffed.
15
Poor dirty people, always wanting free help.
16
What next?
17
You want us to deliver the baby right here?
18
But the third nurse stepped forward.
19
Let me help her, she said.
20
Her friends stared at her.
21
Good Samaritan, you'll miss your chance at the job because of charity work.
22
They walked away, leaving her behind.
23
The third nurse stayed with the woman, comforting her, helping her breathe.
24
Minutes passed, until finally a cab arrived.
25
Meanwhile, the other two nurses reached the hospital.
26
The receptionist smiled warmly.
27
You're very punctual, she said.
28
The director will arrive shortly.
29
The two nurses giggled proudly.
30
Then suddenly, the third nurse rushed in, sweaty, breathing hard.
31
I'm sorry, something came up.
32
I couldn't imagine leaving someone in pain.
33
The receptionist smirked.
34
That's why the nice ones always stay broke.
35
Sorry, you're late.
36
The other nurses laughed.
37
We told you!
38
But she simply sat down and waited anyway.
39
Then moments later, the receptionist stood up.
40
The director is here.
41
Everyone turned and froze.
42
It was the same couple from the road, now clean, smiling.
43
The two nurses stared in shock.
44
Wait, you weren't really in labor?
45
The man looked at them calmly.
46
Yes, my wife and I run tests like this.
47
We look for nurses with real compassion.
48
If we knew, we would have helped," one nurse stammered.
49
The director nodded slowly.
50
Exactly.
51
That's why we do it.
52
Then he turned toward the third nurse.
53
The job is yours.
54
Because skills may get you noticed, but kindness is what makes people trust you with lives.
