So today we're going to talk about offline dopamine

and why it's important for you and I to consider this as a source of everything that we do in life.

Alright, so dopamine.

What is dopamine?

Dopamine is an influential neurotransmitter.

It plays a central role in motivation, focus, learning, movement, and emotional regulation.

In other words, we cannot escape it.

I know a lot of you have heard the term and, you know, the media says we are dopamine, dopamine, dopamine.

It's bad, bad for you, too much dopamine.

And yes, we are currently overstimulated.

Just before coming here, you probably heard the news.

You got a few pints on your phone.

You heard another story about airlines shutting down or oil or whatever it is.

So yes, you are overstimulated.

And recently for my newsletter, I did a deep dive on what is called smartphone dementia clinics.

So in Asia, they're setting up tech rehab centers for people who are overstimulated

and giving them time to actually process once again.

And this is happening with younger populations mostly, but some adults as well, which essentially means that we have a problem.

And most likely the problem is found in your pocket.

So we carry dopamine triggering devices, our smartphones, laptops, tablets, smart watches,

whatever it is, because we have adapted to a convenience driven lifestyle.

And I will show you how it used to be back in the day.

We used to have a lot of things with us.

So whether it was a camera, an MP3 player, your phone, maybe a GPS handheld or in your car.

and you used to have a lot of stuff and that was not convenient at all.

Now we have one thing that allows us to do all of these things.

And those things are important.

However, they may be causing secondary effects, which means overstimulation lives.

So how to fix it?

Well, we need a plan for periodic breaks for our brain.

The smartphone, although I personally don't like it, I don't like the culture around it.

I advocate against it, I use a dumb phone, yada, yada, yada.

But when we really think about it, the device itself is not evil.

But the device is a portal that allows our predatory actors, meaning social media, work, news, advertising, video, our newest favorite two-letter word,

AI, to monopolize our attention and break down our system's regulatory barriers.

This is where we find articles on the internet about how AI is being sycophantic

and telling you everything you want to hear and giving you more stimulation and more news and everything.

So you never get a break because you always have this device with you.

So what we need is periodic breaks because our brains developed in a timeline

that did not have all of these devices with us at

all times they develop in a timeline where we maybe went

to work maybe you take a break go to the park

or go for lunch and you had natural sources of dopamine

and breaks in in your every day now we don't have

that therefore what you need is number one

so to reduce over stimulation they create created by smartphones you need something

latest craze well helping processing time right just go on a walk around your neighborhood without your smartphone
