1
hello you guys and welcome or welcome back to my podcast my name is fernando amirez
2
and this is a better you if this is your first time hearing my voice
3
or seeing my face
4
if you're watching the podcast a better you is a self
5
-development podcast all about inner growth self -understanding wellness intentional living
6
and literally anything that revolves around becoming the best version of yourself whether
7
that be physically mentally emotionally and overall the goal is to help you return back to yourself.
8
We are here to become our own dream woman and build a life that we can't stop thinking about.
9
So with all that being said, I'm so excited for today's episode.
10
Now, listen, you guys, if you are a long time listener or even a short time listener, but you've been listening to my podcast for quite some time
11
and you've been wondering where I've been because I have not been uploading.
12
Well, let me tell you guys, I had a little bit of a hiatus.
13
As you know, or if you didn't know, I actually moved out of my last apartment around January and I moved back in with my parents to my childhood home.
14
I was living in my literal childhood bedroom for February, March, April, May, June and throughout those five months
15
because I was living at home and I'm like this really isn't the vibe, this is not where I want to be.
16
I was taking that time to travel so I went to Brazil, I went to Mexico, I went to LA, I went to Paris, I went to Miami, I went to Mykonos, I was popping all over the place
17
and because of that it was very difficult for me to hunker down sit down
18
and upload my podcast because nowadays especially people be getting like full production teams
19
and production crews to film episodes they have camera people they
20
have tech people they got a whole team behind them guys i'm a one woman show
21
and currently right now i'm extra one woman
22
because i'm currently not even working with a team
23
so this is the first time my career
24
that i have not been managed and
25
that i don't have like an assistant with me
26
so anyways I say that all to say
27
that bringing your podcast equipment around by yourself or filming in places
28
that are not your filming spaces
29
or for me I was filming in my car it was just so difficult
30
and I was mentally thinking to myself like okay I'm gonna film next week I'm gonna film next week
31
but then I would be in my car like sweating
32
so hot and I'm like this is literally just discouraging I don't want to film in here
33
and I had a lot of friction
34
and I feel like I talk about this a lot in my episodes
35
but you know when you want to build a habit
36
or you want to kind of get back into routine
37
or lock back in i always say reduce the friction
38
because like if your podcast equipment is already set up
39
if your camera is already set up
40
if your stuff is all charged it is very easy to just sit down
41
and start filming but when nothing is aligning
42
and you feel like you're working against the grain to try
43
to make something work oh my goodness it is way more difficult to do the thing
44
that actually puts you into flow state so
45
that was kind of my logistical dilemmas with filming
46
when i didn't have a permanent space and i don't mean to use
47
that as an excuse because there's other ways
48
that you can go around it but
49
that definitely was a big thing for me other than
50
that i have been traveling and then i moved into my new apartment
51
which i am currently in right now
52
if you're watching the podcast this is not going to be
53
my usual setup i have an office i'm going to set it up there
54
but because i'm still kind of decorating
55
and putting things up all the walls are a little bit bland
56
so i'm filming in my bedroom today
57
which you know isn't the worst i've got a comfy little bed here to sit on and
58
because we got a lot of yap about i'm not mad
59
at all at the comfy space anyways as I said I moved into my new apartment
60
and I'm still currently living in Vancouver
61
but I'm obsessed with my new space I love it and I'm
62
so excited to start filming here I feel like you can even tell by my energy I'm uplifted living alone
63
and having my space and it just makes filming so much easier
64
so honestly props to the people that are filming in their homes
65
or they have people all around them
66
because it is more difficult I also went to Bali for
67
my 200 hour yoga teacher training now this is the first time I'm seeing it on this podcast
68
but if you watch my regular youtube channel under fernando amirez i posted part one
69
and part two of my yoga teacher training vlogs
70
and i kind of want to talk more about
71
that in a podcast but it's not gonna be this one
72
because i mean i kind of will talk about it a little bit
73
but i definitely want to talk about the things that i learned
74
but because there is just so much
75
and i don't want to bombard you with things you didn't
76
ask for as my first episode back we're starting more with uh the september vibe the lock -in vibe
77
that definitely took some time away took a lot of my time 200 hours quite literally
78
so there's been a lot of traveling a lot of experience
79
a lot of growth a lot of healing a lot of love uh
80
but you know what that means you know what
81
that means okay something i've learned after being a creator for seven years is
82
that unless you want to be like everybody else
83
or not have enough to say or not be a healed integrated human
84
which is what i preach online
85
so it's like how am i gonna be preaching something
86
and not living it it is really hard to constantly be uploading
87
and explaining your thoughts and dumping your thoughts on people There was definitely a time in my life where i'm like, I don't feel like I have anything to say I feel like everything i've wanted to say i've already said
88
and taking some time away from Constantly creating and posting
89
and being seen and just sharing your thoughts online to experience what real life is all about experience connections experience
90
just your day -to -day real life events or just processing situations
91
and trips and experiences
92
that you've been through in real life actually is what gives the material to then come online and speak about it.
93
So even though I haven't been on the podcast like talking so much, I feel like I have been living by a better you of philosophy
94
and principles in real life behind the scenes and that is really important to me.
95
I have so much to talk about, which makes me so excited for the next phase of this podcast
96
and what I have to talk about in the episodes
97
that are coming out
98
and in my own creative process I feel more full to the brim with ideas
99
and that is the true creative process now isn't it
100
so anyways all of that is to say I'm
101
so excited for the episodes to come I'm so inspired I'm
102
so motivated I feel like I have so much to talk about
103
and I am so passionate about all these things
104
so really all good vibes coming to you on the other
105
hand we've been doing a lot of a better you events
106
in person in fact last week i just came back from new york
107
and i did a panel which was so much fun
108
and we talked all about a better you we talked about
109
fashion we talked about self -development my own journey confidence content creation
110
that was amazing and it was
111
so cool to see some of you guys in person
112
that listened to the podcast other than
113
that during new york fashion week in june actually i went to mykonos
114
and i hosted a journaling workshop that was so much fun and something
115
that has been like on my bucket list forever i actually
116
went on a hippie who hustles wellness retreat she is a yoga instructor
117
and just businesswoman that i met in la a few years ago
118
and she has always kind of put me under her wing
119
and bringing me awesome opportunities and
120
when she told me she was doing this wellness retreat and
121
that she wanted me to come on
122
and host a journaling workshop i'm like you don't understand this
123
is the whole vision board i remember i told her
124
when i was there we were on a yacht i look at her
125
and i'm like can you believe
126
that this is your life like you get to do this
127
and she's like girl this is our life
128
and i was like oh you know what mic drop you're right you're right this is our life
129
and i say that because guys i did not grow up i did not grow up like
130
that i'm from a small town in canada okay my point of
131
that is to say if you have a vision
132
and you're working towards it even
133
if it seems like you're not working the hardest on one day
134
but you are actually working towards a bigger picture
135
and it's taking you days months years trust me you're getting closer to your vision every single day those things
136
that are your dreams are so capable of happening
137
and sometimes it's one person that opens the door for you
138
and eventually it'll be you opening the door for somebody else
139
so all i have to say there is that
140
that was such a blessing such a great experience i have a vlog on
141
that that i haven't posted that will go up hopefully soon
142
but yeah i say that because a better you events
143
or a better you irl we can say is a lot
144
about connection is a lot about reflection is a lot about conversations
145
and inner work
146
and i feel having a place to do it in real life with my own tangible product
147
and being in such a beautiful place.
148
I mean, what more could I ask for?
149
So that was Mykonos in June.
150
One of the things
151
that I have been wanting to do for the longest time with A Better You
152
or just like my vision for the future is to do in real life events and eventually retreats.
153
And doing my yoga teacher training was in my head a
154
prerequisite for the type of life I want to live
155
and the type of direction that I want to lead my career in.
156
So, you know, I always thought to myself, how cool would it be if I I could host retreats and I didn't have to just hire yoga instructors, but I was the yoga instructor.
157
So anyways, now that that's in the bag, guys, especially if you're from Vancouver, stay tuned for some yogi events, a better you yogi stuff,
158
hopefully international soon, hopefully global soon.
159
We do not discriminate.
160
There's one more thing I want to talk about as we lead into today's episode.
161
And I talked about it a lot on my past YouTube video.
162
I did like a girl talk FaceTime with you guys
163
but it is the fact
164
that i have been self -managed for the past like two
165
months this is gonna lead into why i need a september
166
lock -in a year -end lock -in the greatest lock -in of all times honestly i loved everything
167
that i said in that video so
168
if you're really curious about the business side of this job definitely head over there
169
because it's also a very empowering talk and i feel like a big thing
170
that i mentioned in that kind of portion was that for context i'm 24.
171
I've been doing this job for quite a few years now.
172
I turn 25 next month.
173
I think I signed with an agent when I was 19.
174
When I first entered this industry, I didn't know anything.
175
All I knew is that I wanted to be in this world so bad.
176
And having a manager for the first time, especially being so young, I was just like taking on as much work as I could.
177
And I feel like if she was listening to this, I feel like she would get the vibe of what I'm saying of like, I was so on it.
178
I was taking every deal.
179
I was doing the most.
180
And you know, at some point along the way, I got kind of burnt out
181
but then after i took some time to do some healing
182
and i was like wait no i'm so back
183
and i wanted to do more work i felt a little
184
bit disconnected from the business part of it i feel like i didn't have
185
that much transparency like i didn't really know what was happening behind the scenes moral of the story was
186
that i'm definitely in a new chapter of my life i feel like i'm in a new chapter of my career
187
and i really want to take action moving towards the goals
188
that i have for myself i just felt like i wasn't super aligned with my previous team
189
and so i took the executive decision to kind of part ways
190
and although it is so sad because we had a great relationship
191
and can cause a lot of kind of like uncertainty in
192
yourself i'm like am i making the right decision this is all i've ever known like what
193
if something bad happens what if i can't find a team after what
194
if like what if what if what
195
if you know there's all these what ifs
196
when you finally decide to take a leap of faith
197
or for you this might be like leaving the job
198
or switching bosses or deciding to quit you know
199
or even firing someone like that's pretty intense
200
and i feel like i had to do
201
that as well this year i feel like making those big
202
decisions can first of all be hanging over your head for
203
so long and something that i really have been liking recently is
204
that is the saying
205
that decisions are portals life is full of decisions you have to make the choice
206
and if you don't make the choice life will make the choice for you
207
so the sooner that you can make the choice
208
and make the decision quicker the sooner
209
that you can have autonomy over your life and feel
210
that sovereignty i like that word these days
211
so we're gonna use it anyways what i'm trying to get to is
212
that i had to leave my team
213
and this left me with a lot of like huh what now what freaking now
214
so anyways i went to my yoga teacher training right after
215
that and i was like you know what after this training i really want to get clear on my purpose
216
and how i've been feeling and just kind of digest this
217
and like decide what my next steps are going to be
218
and just kind of really plan
219
and figure out my life right now one of the things
220
that I feel like was a big focus on our yoga teacher training was the concept of dharma now
221
if you don't know what dharma is dharma is like your individual purpose well actually there's a lot of ways
222
that you can translate this word but I feel like the one
223
that I'm going to use in this scenario is the reason you are here with your unique set of gifts
224
so we talked a lot about that
225
and I have felt like I've been in my dharma for some time now
226
that might sound a little bit ambiguous and I feel like
227
when I say like oh I do youtube
228
and someone's like really being a youtuber was your dharma like i know what it can sound like
229
but i remember i wanted to be a youtuber
230
or i wanted to be on the internet for as long as i can remember everyone wants
231
that when they're younger
232
but it's like oh is it actually gonna happen you know
233
we all have those doubts i feel like even these days it's more common to want to be an influencer
234
because you see it everywhere but you know when i was 10
235
and i wanted to be a youtuber
236
so bad it wasn't like the most common job
237
that everyone wanted okay so i wanted this for so long
238
and i remember when i created my first piece of content
239
or i've created my first youtube video the filming of it was
240
so fun the creating of the storyline was
241
so fun editing the video was so fun posting it
242
and sharing it and just like expressing my thoughts out loud
243
and being authentically myself and then having people respond back to
244
that positively and them enjoying it and saying that like this helped them
245
so much this really impacted them this really inspired them this really motivated them
246
that felt so fulfilling to me so i just decided to keep using my gifts
247
which maybe was being seen online talking to the camera coming up with ideas filming editing creating being open
248
and outspoken and outgoing and like later on in years where I was going to events
249
and it was kind of like networking and being in social settings
250
and socializing and meeting people
251
and pitching yourself even negotiating with brands working with brands all of
252
that felt so aligned with my natural gifts and talents
253
that I'm like oh my god there's literally nothing
254
that I could be doing but this this feels so fulfilling
255
and I always say to myself like this type of job has almost like two roles you have one job
256
which is creating for the people and then you have another job
257
which is creating for brands now creating for brands now as i've gotten older has become
258
so fun for me because i like working
259
and i like working with cool brands and
260
when they have cool budgets it's like this is
261
so fun we get to do all this together
262
but the initial the initial job
263
which is creating for people creating to help people feel less
264
alone creating to help people feel a sense of comfort or motivation
265
or to influence somebody in like an actual proper way like
266
to influence somebody to be a better version of themselves rather than just buying the next product
267
that has always been so near and dear to my heart
268
and has felt like my purpose
269
and i feel like somewhere along the way you know you
270
get lost in the actual job of it the brands of
271
it the team of it the more ceo business side of it
272
and that's not to say that i don't love
273
that in fact i love that and i want to continue moving in
274
that space because I think that the evolved version of me
275
or like the older version of me likes doing business
276
and likes making things happen
277
and it's not even business it's like building things you like building a brand
278
if I wasn't the influencer I'd probably be in marketing
279
or PR or whatever that's like the job aspect of it
280
but the actual sole purpose of it okay
281
that has always been to inspire and to impact
282
and to change people's lives in the way that you can all of
283
that is to say
284
that being in this yoga training really brought me back to the initial dharma
285
that I have always felt that I had or the calling
286
that I felt that I had or like the actual purpose of why I do what I do.
287
Going back to the initial desire and purpose has given me
288
so much like fuel to come back in my own way and really take charge of my business and be like, wait.
289
I don't need to be burnt out.
290
I don't need to do this in a way that stresses me out.
291
There is another option and there is a way to do what I love doing, integrating all the different parts of myself, creating something bigger than myself.
292
And now if I'm gonna be the one taking charge, I gotta make sure that I'm putting my best effort, that I am doing the work because that's what it actually takes day to day.
293
You can't just be going to the big events and the fancy stuff, building a team around me that sees my vision, posting the content so that the opportunities get attracted to me
294
and I can actually live these experiences in real life and also so that I can keep creating for you guys.
295
I'm kind of going off in a little tangent here, but I guess we can wrap that section up with also saying if you guys are kind of inspired by this concept, I'm sure there's so many journaling prompts
296
that you can do on figuring out what your personal dharma is
297
and that'll probably be something that aligns with what you enjoy doing and your actual unique gifts and strengths.
298
All in all, my point is I feel so inspired
299
and I feel like I have a fire relit under my butt
300
and actually now that I'm like taking more ownership of my own business
301
and where i want this to go i've been having
302
so many meetings with new agents and talent managers
303
and i've had a lot of great conversations and i feel very confident
304
and comfortable in my decision of letting go of something
305
that was so big and central to my life in the past
306
and entering this new chapter with fresh energy with
307
so much excitement with so much passion
308
and just like rooting myself in in what i actually like
309
and moving from that place that kind of also sets the scene
310
and sets the floor as to why september for me is
311
like the great lock -in you guys we have four more months basically three
312
because september's almost done three more months to get our shit
313
together before the year ends now for me for me personally
314
since i'm hiring a new team i'm like oh my god
315
guys this isn't no like yes people can trust you with the vision
316
but at the same time you gotta come up with the numbers i am struggling a little bit
317
because i'm like wait i was taking a little hiatus yeah the business don't care about
318
that they want to know how many videos you're uploading how many deals you're taking how much money you're making
319
and again don't get lost in that
320
because that's how you know we get out of alignment with our dharma
321
and if we want this to be our authentic expression
322
and turn that into a career we got to be in line with our dharma
323
but you know the business the numbers they don't lie we also got to integrate that and
324
that was actually my goal for this year i was like
325
i'm trying to integrate the feminine you know soft expressive creative with the masculine
326
which is a little bit more logical a little bit more analytical, a little bit more structured.
327
When we can manage to integrate both of them, that is when we can be the most disciplined version of ourselves.
328
And this really all ties back into the episode that I made last year on being disciplined through devotion.
329
If this season of my life has not explained that to a T, I don't know what does, but I'm feeling very devoted to my path, very devoted to my craft.
330
Having all that said, hopefully you guys are feeling my energy.
331
I'm like transferring this energy through the camera, through the microphone.
332
And you guys are feeling amped up and feeling like, you know what?
333
I got these next three months.
334
I'm going to do the most with these next three months that I can.
335
I'm going to make the most out of the year.
336
I'm going to, if this year hasn't been the best for you, I'm going to turn this year around.
337
If you just made a big decision or you're kind of left feeling a little bit doubtful, just know you guys, the universe has a plan for you.
338
Things will work out in your favor.
339
This is all a part of the plot.
340
This is all a part of the story.
341
Everything needs to happen for a reason.
342
And sometimes when you're in the moment, you can't understand why it's happening.
343
You're like, why did I literally just fire all my team?
344
Or why did I just lose my job?
345
Why did I decide to break up with this person?
346
Or why did I get broken up with?
347
And you're feeling lost in that moment, but just know a few months down the line, a few years down the line, it could even be a few weeks down the line.
348
Suddenly everything's going to make sense.
349
And you're going to be like, wow, I needed that to happen in my path.
350
And sometimes, sometimes you need to hit rock bottom before you go up.
351
And also sometimes when a door closes, another one opens.
352
So never fear that something is passing you because what is meant for you will not pass you.
353
Another concept I wanted to talk about in regards to the great lock -in of September is the concept of being seen.
354
Being seen at your worst, being seen at your best, being seen at your highest expression, being seen trying, being seen authentically, being seen doing the most.
355
There's so much to talk about here and we're going to dive into it.
356
Now I'm going to do a little bit of a story time
357
and you're going to see how it's all going to tie together.
358
This has been something that I have been kind of working through the past few weeks
359
and something that I've been trying to integrate and it's something
360
that I think is really going to help me
361
and really going to take the lead in this next chapter of my life.
362
Now I'm going to bring you guys back to Bali real quick.
363
Now when I went to this yoga retreat one of the biggest things
364
that I loved about being here was
365
that I was now put in a little compound for two
366
weeks with a bunch of different strangers like 25 people
367
that all live so differently than me
368
and I feel like you really notice your own traits
369
and your own qualities in relation to other people
370
and they really stand out when you see other people now
371
when i live alone i work alone i post content with
372
viewers who like my personality who like my content who like what i have to say
373
that are almost reaffirming me back to myself it's like have
374
i been living a little bit in a fishbowl maybe Am I a little bit in an echo chamber?
375
Maybe.
376
And that is my biggest nightmare.
377
Even being with the friends that I always talk to, it's like we all have very similar mindsets.
378
We have very similar demeanors.
379
We have very similar ways of thinking, okay?
380
So I go into this yoga retreat and I'm here just like egoless, basically.
381
I'm like, I'm a student.
382
I'm here to learn.
383
I'm not here to be a creator.
384
I'm not here to be an influencer.
385
I'm not here to be who I normally am.
386
I'm here to have open mind, open thoughts, be like a sponge, and kind of soak in these new philosophies now one of the things
387
and i'm gonna give it a little disclaimer before i keep talking
388
that like this is my experience i don't know
389
if this is right
390
or wrong this is just how i experienced is how i felt we're more analyzing my own thoughts okay
391
so when i came here i felt like one of the things
392
that i really noticed in yoga philosophy is
393
that there's a big emphasis on kind of like transcending the self kind of like not really caring
394
so much about your vessel and more going inward
395
and caring about your inner world and kind of letting go of material desires
396
and I really like a lot of this and especially
397
because I live such an unconventional life honestly like posting my life online
398
and I feel like being a creator there's a lot of vanity
399
that comes with
400
that a lot of material world I don't know like desires
401
I feel like I even though I want to be this like not attached person
402
or like someone that doesn't care about the exterior it's like be
403
so for real girl do you know what kind of job
404
you do like it is really hard to have those principles sometimes
405
when i'm so ingrained in in the material world and an industry
406
that can be so vain in a way i say this all to say
407
that when i got there you know i thought i was i thought i was not attached
408
and then we did this exercise okay this is a side
409
note we did this exercise where we had to write on paper
410
and at the end of it we had to rip it up
411
and put it in the center
412
and i was like hell no i'm not ripping this i'm saving this for my journal okay this is content
413
and then at the end she was like okay well this was a practice on non -attachment
414
so you were like basically supposed to put it in the box
415
and only me and one other girl did not put it in the box
416
and I was like well damn and
417
that even was like a mirror to myself
418
and being like wow I thought I was unattached
419
and I can't even I can't even let go of this little paper
420
and then there was another scenario where we did a blindfolded um like yoga day
421
or a blindfolded meditation
422
and we weren't supposed to like look at anyone we weren't
423
supposed to look at ourselves we weren't supposed to look in the mirror
424
and I was over here thinking like what am I gonna wear I want to look good
425
and I was thinking to myself like why do i even care
426
if no one's looking at me like i guess like caring about my outward my vessel has been
427
so ingrained in me that even
428
when nobody is looking at me it is such a priority in my mind
429
and then i went to like my meditation and i was like what
430
if i'm being filmed right now should i sit up
431
and fix my posture anyways all of this is to say
432
that i realized in so many scenarios how much i am like thinking about my outwards persona
433
and that is actually something
434
that i feel like i've been trying to get better at like not caring
435
so much about my vessel whatever whatever so anyways all
436
that had me really down in the dumps i was like
437
wow am i a fraud i'm trying to be all yogi
438
and i'm not am i just a materialistic girl seriously is
439
that what i am am i just somebody who just cares
440
about my vessel anyways i was having a little bit of like a philosophical
441
dilemma with myself a moral dilemma with myself anyways a few days later passed
442
and i ended up going to this ecstatic dance and i was
443
so excited basically if you don't know what this is you're kind of dancing freely
444
and you're doing whatever
445
and you're supposed to close your eyes you can have your
446
eyes open some people are on all fours some people are shaking some people are jumping
447
and you're just supposed to express through your body to the
448
beat of the music okay you can do whatever you want you can yell
449
if you wanted to you can jump if you wanted to
450
so I'm there
451
and I'm like closing my eyes I'm shaking I'm trying to express the way I want to express
452
and it comes a point where they're like okay now you're
453
closing your eyes now we want you to get into the biggest shape
454
that feels like you into the shape
455
that is how you want to express yourself how you feel the most comfortable as put yourself into
456
that shape okay so i'm like right right i'm gonna go into all star
457
because i like taking up space and this is how i feel confident
458
and good okay my arms are up in the air
459
and they're like okay at the count of three we're gonna open our eyes
460
and look around i open my eyes and look around and
461
when i tell you i'm the only girl with my arms up in the air
462
and a freaking starfish i was like oh oh oh my
463
god i'm looking around there's people squatting there's people laying there's
464
people looking down there's people on the floor i was the only person
465
and in like 50 people that had their arms up in the air.
466
Suddenly I'm like, damn, why am I low -key embarrassed?
467
Should I be putting my arms down?
468
Here I go again, trying to make this about me.
469
Is this just the influencer in me?
470
Anyways, I came home thinking like, damn.
471
But then I thought about it some more and I was talking to Chad about it.
472
You know, I'm sorry.
473
I know we shouldn't be doing that, but I was like really trying to like work through this
474
because I don't know why I was feeling like ashamed of doing too much.
475
And basically, Chad had said to me like, you know, for other people that are trying to express authentically, maybe just jumping around feels like a hurdle they're jumping over maybe for you who's someone
476
that is naturally expressive and
477
when i tell you i've been like this since i was
478
a child i always wanted to be on camera i wanted
479
to perform i wanted to do the most maybe the edge
480
for me is not just going to this ecstatic dance alone
481
maybe it's not dancing with my arms up in the air
482
maybe it's doing the most doing what i authentically want to do
483
which is putting my arms up in the air and
484
being seen and not being ashamed not feeling like wait i need to do less you know
485
when i was in my yoga training
486
and i was like wait is my outfit like too much
487
am i carrying too much it's like actually that's the way
488
you want to express stop trying to dim yourself down
489
or water yourself down to make other people feel more comfortable
490
yes to a certain extent those things should not matter
491
so much they should not dictate the way that you feel about yourself
492
or your self -worth or like your actual feelings of yourself
493
but if you are somebody that uses fashion to express themselves self
494
if you are somebody who likes being bold who likes putting on a show who likes the aspect of performance
495
that is not performative in a way
496
that is like like uh in a way that's like
497
if i don't perform i'm not worthy or
498
if i don't perform i'm not gonna get this thing
499
that i want it's like no actually if you want to perform
500
if you want to express if you want to be bold
501
if you want to be loud if you want to laugh
502
if you want to put your arms up in the air
503
if you if you want to wear that lipstick wear
504
that eyeshadow don't let other people make you feel bad about
505
that thing allow yourself to be seen taking up space i
506
feel like this has all been a big lesson for me
507
because even sometimes i know in my hometown i wouldn't want to wear a certain dress
508
because i'm like no what if i'm doing too much
509
or like you know i i would feel like i needed
510
to like dim my accomplishments to make other people feel better
511
and i think as women that's something that we're often taught about
512
and obviously in a lot of places there are different standards you know
513
if i'm going into a yoga teacher training
514
and we're learning about yogic philosophy maybe this idea of taking up space
515
and allowing yourself to be seen taking up space is not the most popular philosophy
516
but that doesn't make it wrong you know that's why we have different philosophies
517
and that's why we have different beliefs but that doesn't mean
518
that it's wrong and that doesn't mean that there's a right
519
and a wrong way to think
520
or do things anyways i feel like i'm kind of going off into a tangent
521
and i'm kind of you know pulling from a bunch of different things
522
but i really do feel like it makes sense
523
and i feel like also side note being in a place
524
that has such a different philosophy than you
525
or a different belief than you it is so important because
526
if you only have your own belief but nobody is challenging you
527
or you have no friction
528
and everybody is just agreeing with you then it's very easy
529
to get stuck in your own thoughts in your own way
530
i feel like it's really important to have your own beliefs challenged to then see
531
if you really believe in those things
532
and you know before i would say like no it's important to take up space
533
and be seen and do the most and then it's like
534
if i'm immediately going into a space
535
and suddenly all those beliefs go out the door
536
and I'm like wait and I'm like doubting myself
537
and I'm like do I even believe these things
538
because why can't I do them here it's like I think it's important to have your own ideas challenged
539
and then if after being challenged you kind of double down on them
540
and you're like we actually or you have a better understanding of them
541
or you're able to explain them better
542
or like at least now you have a bunch of different perspectives
543
and then you can choose what aligns and what fits with you I think
544
that is a better way of kind of coming to conclusions about your beliefs
545
or even not conclusions
546
but just like in kind of like owning your beliefs a little bit more I do think
547
that happens with age whatever moral of the story is I
548
was kind of working through this the past few weeks being
549
like first having all this doubt then being like wait no actually I shouldn't feel ashamed I shouldn't feel embarrassed
550
and then this is another this is another divergent you can
551
see like the ADHD in me going off right now
552
but Miss Dolly Parton rest in peace the queen she passed away a few weeks ago
553
and I was watching a bunch of interviews about her
554
and her way of being just inspired me
555
so much you know she's always somebody that has had big hair
556
that has had a lot of makeup that had had a fuller chest
557
and wore sparkles and diamonds and bedazzled and one of the biggest things
558
that she kind of vocalized
559
or spoke about was being authentic being different taking up space
560
doing what feels most aligned to you having your inner world
561
be translated to the outer world you know leading with love leading with kindness
562
being a badass business girly who doesn't get taken advantage of
563
who has control over her things who has ownership over her things
564
and overall is just was such an icon
565
because she wasn't like everybody else she was an icon
566
because she worked so freaking hard she was
567
so unique she played to her strengths and her own talents
568
and she never tried to water herself down she never tried
569
to be anyone she wasn't she never tried to do things the easy way
570
or the way
571
that people told her she carved her own path for herself the way she wanted to do it
572
and she did it like a queen
573
so anyways she reinforces belief into me again
574
and you know with my birthday coming up it's always a time to self -reflect
575
and I feel like going into 25 having this new team
576
just like feeling more like myself than I ever have I'm just
577
so inspired to stop playing small to stop doubting myself
578
when I feel a little bit different than everybody else to stop feeling like I need to be doing less
579
or am I trying too hard when like if
580
that is your natural expression go for it in fact I would personally
581
because I am someone like this I would have loved to see people
582
when I was younger
583
and I would love to continue to see people right now at this current age
584
that are bold about their ambitions that are seen trying towards their ambitions
585
that are not afraid
586
or ashamed to be seen like putting in the extra hours
587
putting in the extra work caring too much about something wearing the outfit
588
that feels most like them just expressing themselves creatively
589
and allowing themselves to be seen in that's base not feeling any judgment not feeling any shame in
590
that and i think that that inspires all of us a little bit more
591
and honestly i just feel so passionate about this
592
because it has been on my mind for so long
593
and it's a feeling that i have felt for so long
594
but yeah anyways i hope that inspires you guys
595
if you're listening to this or you have ever felt like you're doing too much
596
or like you're trying too hard
597
or you're even just getting inspired to try hard in the
598
next few months the next year in this next chapter of your life don't be afraid to do
599
so you guys now is the time this kind of brings
600
us back to the concept of the video we have a
601
few more months of 2026 to take up space to own what we want to do
602
and to just try full -heartedly we have nothing to lose
603
and i think that that's where i'm at right now
604
and some people
605
that i know in my life right now that's kind of
606
the place we're at it's like we have nothing to lose
607
we only live once we're on a freaking floating rock how about we make the most out of this experience
608
and we try so freaking hard because we only get one life
609
and we don't want to have regrets we don't want to
610
self -sabotage We don't want to wake up one day and be like, what the hell have I freaking been doing?
611
No, no, no, no, no. We want to take every day by the, what is it called?
612
Like, I feel like there's a saying with that, but it's like not PG.
613
We're going to take, we're going to take each day by the head.
614
I don't know what the word is.
615
Head first.
616
We're going to take each day head first, foot first, chin up first and put in the extra effort, do the extra work, plan the vision.
617
Because if you don't plan the vision, who's planning the vision?
618
That's actually something I also want to say, especially when you're a creative or you're self -managed or you're self -whatever.
619
It's like, no one is driving the boat for you.
620
You have to have the vision and you got to align yourself with that vision.
621
Find people that can help you achieve this vision and work towards that vision every day.
622
If you don't have your own vision, somebody else will make a vision for you.
623
Somebody else is going to put the ceiling for you.
624
And oh my God, is that a freaking nightmare?
625
If you are relying on somebody else's vision and they're like, yeah, you can only go this high.
626
And it's like, no, no, no. Actually, I can go this high.
627
By the way, if you're not watching the podcast, I'm saying significantly higher.
628
The ceiling is limitless when it is yours, when you have that own vision.
629
So get creative with it.
630
Write down on a piece of paper, what do I want to accomplish before the year ends?
631
What would I feel good about this past year once I'm celebrating the new year?
632
If we remember from the beginning of the year, it is the year of the horse.
633
And that means we are taking charge.
634
We are taking action and we are taking movement.
635
And also, it is important to note that momentum is really what's going to help you here.
636
If you have been stagnant for some time, and I can relate to this because like when I didn't upload podcasts for a few literally months, girl, it's so hard to get back into it.
637
It's the same thing like with the gym.
638
It's the same thing with probably studying.
639
You know, if you haven't done something for a long time, it takes so much effort and willpower to get yourself to do it.
640
But once you start doing it consistently, you kind of get reminded of, wait, I like doing this or wait, I know how to do this.
641
I trust myself doing this.
642
I have proven to myself
643
that I can do this i can show up for myself
644
i can do a good job i don't have to disappoint other people
645
or myself and then you kind of get this momentum going
646
and suddenly you're like wait wait wait this is what i
647
was supposed to be doing the whole freaking time this is
648
what the whole thing is about okay i also relate to this
649
because last year i actually didn't travel very much
650
and i thought i just didn't like traveling anymore low -key okay that's not true
651
but i was like maybe these big dreams aren't for me
652
anymore maybe i was maybe i was being greedy with my big ambitions
653
and it's like girl be so fucking for real be
654
so for real
655
because this year I like started going on more trips again
656
I started doing more photo shoots speaking on panels I was even taking opportunities I didn't feel qualified
657
or ready for like doing this journaling workshop I was like
658
I'm just gonna do it once I start showing to myself
659
wait I can do these things I like doing these things
660
the sky is the limit suddenly I'm like wait wait I love doing this why did I ever think
661
that I didn't like doing this why did I ever think
662
that I was being too greedy with my ambitions like you
663
can do whatever you set out your mind to do
664
so why are we playing small why are we limiting ourselves why are we thinking
665
that we've done all we need to do when we are
666
so young and we have the whole world ahead of us all of this is to say
667
that yes it is fall the season of comfort the season of being cozy in our blankets yes
668
but at the same time i have never been more motivated i've never been more inspired
669
and i'm excited to charge it is still the year of
670
the horse we are here to grind for the rest of
671
the year in a healthy way not in a hustling burnout way more of in a discipline through devotion way
672
and i'm just like really excited for the months to come i hope
673
that you are listening to this and you have taken a thing
674
or two from this episode or that you feel inspired and
675
that yes yes it is going to be a cozier time
676
but that we actually have a little bit of a fire under our bombs
677
and we're like wait there's there's so much more
678
that we can do before this year ends one thing i also want to say is
679
that you do not need a dramatic rock bottom moment to
680
get your life together you can decide to get your life
681
together whenever you want to september i personally feel like is a great time because it kind of feels like a January.
682
It kind of feels like the new year, but you don't always need a milestone or like a, I'll start when it's my birthday or I'll start when it's the new year or I'll start when it's September.
683
I'll start on Monday.
684
You can start whenever you decide to.
685
You can decide to lock in whenever you want, whenever it feels right for you.
686
If after listening to this episode, you're like, wait, I'm trying to lock in before October happens or literally today.
687
I wanna go to the gym today
688
or I wanna come up with a three -month plan after this podcast is done
689
or I want to send out some emails the minute this podcast is done.
690
There's never going to be a wrong time for when you decide that you wanna change things, that you decide that you wanna try a little harder.
691
I wanna remind you guys that you are more capable than you think
692
And with a little bit of intention a little bit of
693
a plan a little bit of direction You can truly go
694
so far I'll tell you guys what i'm probably going to do
695
And then you can choose to do this if you want to
696
or do it a little bit differently Since september is kind
697
of coming to an end I'll probably do a little bit
698
of a list of like what I want to get done before september ends But then i'm going to be like, okay Lock in october november december.
699
What are my priorities for each month?
700
What do I want to make sure has been accomplished by the end of this year?
701
What do I need to have more boundaries around especially in regards to my time?
702
Maybe I need to start saying no to some invitations.
703
Maybe I need to start declining some fun trips I feel like a big one for me is reducing friction
704
and finally getting my apartment together is a big one Like once I have my apartment all set up
705
and i've got my podcast set up set filming is actually
706
quite easy for me It's more of the all the before
707
and after that causes me issues So like figuring out how I can reduce friction
708
if that means for me I need to make sure
709
that all my rooms in my house are Decorated and set up
710
and are a good backdrop for me to film in then
711
that is a priority for me I think another kind of saying
712
that has really been leading me in this chapter is that Sometimes the obstacle is the way that's actually a book
713
If anyone wants to read that book, you should go read it My boyfriend just read it
714
and he said it's great But sometimes the answers
715
that you want are in the work that you're avoiding
716
and sometimes it's like i'm avoiding this job I'm avoiding this thing I have to do
717
and it's like girl if you just did
718
that we would be done here We would move past this
719
so much faster So think about the things in your life
720
that you're currently avoiding What am I currently trying to run away from and can I just get it done?
721
Can I just pick one day?
722
Sometimes I'll give you this.
723
Sometimes it's like the day of I don't feel like doing
724
that thing I don't want to clean my room today at 6 p .m
725
But it's like
726
if I say okay this Saturday we're getting energy drinks We're gonna clean all freaking day
727
and then on Sunday we're gonna start building the furniture We're gonna set everything up
728
and by Monday it's gonna be ready That gives me more of an action plan to actually get these things done, you know
729
So sometimes giving myself an actual day to do things with
730
an energy drink in charge with like a good sleep beforehand makes me
731
so much more motivated to actually get
732
that done rather than just like all of a sudden expecting that I'm going to lock in at freaking 7 p .m.
733
Keep your promises to yourself and do the thing that's actually important before the easy dopamine thing.
734
We don't want to be little dopamine gremlins.
735
Sometimes this might be willing to be temporarily boring.
736
Sometimes we got to go through boring phases, you know, actually doing the work.
737
Maybe for me, it's actually doing the thing before you feel perfectly inspired, showing up every day and showing yourself that you can get things done even
738
when the circumstances or the conditions are not perfect a quote
739
that i like is that locking in is not punishment it is devotion to a future
740
that you care about if i don't want my dream future to escape from me
741
and one day be looking back on my life
742
and being like damn i really i really messed up there i had a lot of potential
743
that i didn't tap into oh my god would
744
that sting oh my god would that sting
745
so let's all let's all take
746
that as like a mental like mic drop to be like shit guys we can't do
747
that we can't we can't let it hit 2027
748
and be like wait why didn't we do the things
749
that we said we were gonna do like that's just not
750
it let's ask yourself perhaps in our journal what would make
751
me genuinely proud by december 31st now the last thing i'm going to leave you with in this episode
752
because i kind of want this episode to more be the catalyst for this kind of new wave of inspiration
753
and momentum and excitement then maybe in the next episode we can talk more about like logistical things
754
but like something that i definitely think
755
that you should do after thinking about this getting excited about
756
this journaling about this self auditing your life a little bit
757
is picking some non -negotiable things to do every single day
758
i know for me before i need to like really lock in for something
759
and like for me right now something on my mind is
760
like my birthday i'm like i'm really excited for my birthday i want to be in the best shape
761
that i can feeling the healthiest
762
that i can it's like i'll make a list they're just like super easy tasks well they're not easy
763
but they're like kind of like very simple it's like go
764
to the gym for one hour a day drink two water bottles every day.
765
Do your skincare every day.
766
It's like, I have a list of little things
767
that I want to do and I check them off every single day at the end of the night.
768
And it's like, just get in the habit of completing these things, even if they're really easy.
769
Maybe for you, it might be opening the blinds.
770
Maybe it's doing your bed every day.
771
Maybe it's reading 10 pages.
772
Maybe it's going in the sauna every other day.
773
Make some habits for yourself that you can do and make it like a little challenge.
774
Like this is going to be my 30 day challenge.
775
You know how they have like 75 hard? don't even do
776
it for 75 days do it for 30 days do it for two weeks do it for one week
777
if you want and just pick some habits to do every single day
778
and if you need a little reward by the end of it
779
so be it just get yourself into the habit of doing the motions getting the momentum going feeling the confidence
780
that comes with doing what you say you're going to do
781
and testing the waters in kind of a new identity
782
that you want or like being the version that you say you wanna be.
783
And also with that, having forgiveness for yourself, having compassion for yourself, you don't need to lock in as punishment.
784
You don't need to lock in and feel fearful that if you don't lock in, something terrible is gonna happen.
785
You don't need to lock in in a way that is like self -destructive.
786
That is all too much, okay?
787
I don't mean to say all this to like get yourself amped up with fear that if you don't do this, something bad's gonna happen.
788
No, no, no, no, no. We're doing this because we want to do this.
789
We're doing this because we get to do this.
790
We're doing this because we care
791
and we don't want to end up having a life pass us by where we don't feel proud in the end,
792
where we didn't do all that we could do with our own capabilities and our own unique gifts.
793
As Dharma says, it says that everyone has their own Dharma or purpose in life.
794
It says that everyone has their own gift to give to others.
795
Embracing your uniqueness attracts success.
796
Using your gifts to serve others creates abundance.
797
And lastly, a little quote is
798
that Dharma is not upheld by talking about it dharma is upheld by living in harmony with it
799
so if you have something that feels like your purpose
800
that feels like your mission or you just have something
801
that is your goal right now ask yourself how you can
802
live your day -to -day life in alignment with the highest version of yourself with the version of yourself
803
that you want to be with the lifestyle
804
that you want to have with the career
805
that you want to have with the emotional feelings
806
that you want to have how can i play into
807
that version of myself every single day how can i use my unique gifts
808
and strengths to allow that to happen
809
and how can i do it leading with love how can
810
i do it with great energy how can i do it
811
from a place of abundance now you guys i'm gonna leave
812
this episode off here i know i talked about one million things
