1
There is no one like you out there.
2
There is no one with your strengths and your power.
3
And it's time to nourish that, to harness it, to grow it.
4
Have some awareness as to where you're placing your power.
5
Where are you placing your focus?
6
Where are you placing your time?
7
The power lies in our decisions.
8
We have the power to change our lives.
9
We have the power to focus on what we want.
10
You don't have to stay stuck.
11
You don't have to stay in the same place forever.
12
You don't have to surround yourself with the same type of people forever.
13
You can make a change.
14
You are the one who harnesses your power and decides where to place it.
15
hi everybody and welcome back to another episode of flowering philosophies i am your host anaya
16
and you may notice that our audio is just a little bit different, a little bit crisper.
17
I have revamped my microphone.
18
This is my old audio setup that I was missing very much, but I took a step away from it, tried some other things, and we're back.
19
We're back in a little bit crisper.
20
I don't know, you're gonna have to let me know what you think.
21
I have just arranged these beautiful roses that my mom got me. So sweet.
22
She got them for me as a congratulations.
23
for my recent poetry performance and journey.
24
I have a video all about this and other things on my channel.
25
The bird is telling you to go check it out as well.
26
It's been such a gorgeous spring so far.
27
I've had some warm days, some cold days, some rain now, and I am just happy as ever.
28
I've seen so many beautiful flowers this spring.
29
I wanted to tell you, it's time to take your power back, okay?
30
I was thinking about this and realized a lot of us don't know how to stand in our power, including myself.
31
That's why I'm thinking about this, writing about this.
32
I have gone through some situations in the more recent past that have made me question myself,
33
my abilities, if I should continue trying to pursue what I love, if I should give these things up, if I'm worthy of being a confident person,
34
can I do the things that I'm setting out to do?
35
All of these questions and doubts have come to me, there's a clear distinction that I want to make between standing in your power
36
and being empowered versus just cockiness or being full of yourself, right?
37
I think that's something that people love to say is whenever there is a confident person who knows who they are, knows what they want, people love to say,
38
oh, they're just full of themselves and I don't like them.
39
I've witnessed this firsthand.
40
I know quite a few very confident, strong
41
personalities and people and I see the way
42
that others get a little bit disturbed by that sometimes
43
or maybe don't love the fact that this person likes themselves
44
and isn't afraid of what people have to say or their presence or whatever.
45
So if you want me to go more in depth about confidence, my first episode of Flowering Philosophies is all about that.
46
We talk about it all the time, but it's about how we feel about ourselves within.
47
Who are we?
48
What are we embodying?
49
Are we comfortable with ourselves?
50
Do we love ourselves?
51
Are we able to give love to others in healthy ways?
52
Like confidence runs so deep and truly comes from within and affects the outside too.
53
I believe that confidence is really a silent internal power.
54
It's not braggadocious.
55
It's not based in ego.
56
Like I said, it's not clinging to material things and true confidence doesn't feel the need to feed off of others lack.
57
There's not a superiority there.
58
There's not a comparison game.
59
It's steadiness as two feet strong on the ground, standing in your power.
60
I did an episode a long time ago called I'm Afraid of My Full Potential.
61
I've been in situations where it's time to stand in my power.
62
I just did an event where I performed my poetry
63
and I made a lot of floral designs and that required a lot of thinking, creative decisions, and a short amount of time,
64
physical work, physical performance, it's time to stand up, you know, like all those insecurities and doubts that I had about whatever I was capable of.
65
Sometimes we are given a real life opportunity to say, yes, I can do it.
66
And that's whenever we have to stand in our power.
67
So yeah, I always want to make that distinction between confidence coming from
68
that steady internal place versus being full of yourself
69
or feeling as though you need to prove something or
70
that you need to put others down or that you are superior to others, better than others, none of that.
71
Confidence and standing in our power, feeling empowered, it's coming from a steady source that grounds us,
72
makes us feel happy and nourished and fulfilled and confident in this life.
73
I've noticed that whenever I am a little shaky and not standing in my full power, I tend to self-sabotage a lot and that's why I wanted to make this video
74
and tell you that it's time to take your power back.
75
A lot of the time we think, oh, I don't like this thing about my life, or I don't like this habit that I do all the time,
76
but we don't always realize how much we are actively giving our power away.
77
We think others are taking it away, circumstances are making it this way, but we have to pay attention sometimes to what we are allowing, where we are placing our power.
78
There are multiple opportunities in my life that I've always prayed for, but the way that this sort of insecurity and disempowerment can trickle in
79
and change the way that you perceive your life or that you perceive the things around you.
80
That's why I really try to always emphasize bringing ourselves back to gratitude again, reawakening.
81
Sometimes we just slip into these sleeps where we think
82
that we can't change our lives and everything is doomed and that we don't have it so good.
83
And sometimes it really just requires taking ourself out of it for a second, changing our perspective, breaking the cycle.
84
Be aware as to how the self-sabotage shows up in your life
85
because it can be tricky and it can swipe the things
86
that you love most away from you by convincing you that you're not worthy of them.
87
I'm just here to tell you that you can break
88
that self-sabotage cycle when you become aware of the things
89
that maybe you've just been subconsciously doing because of what you tell yourself, because of what you've been told, because of what you believe.
90
We get closer to a place where we can break that cycle, where we can do something differently.
91
It's all about how we define power.
92
I'm talking about empowerment.
93
How do I empower myself?
94
Because I've always been kind of this shy, reserved creature on the outside
95
so I feel like I've done a lot of internal empowerment right like I've empowered myself
96
so much all throughout my imagination my daydreams my art these are things
97
that have come out of me that I feel as though have empowered me
98
and made me confident
99
so how do you define power I don't I don't know
100
how you define it maybe you define it through feeling physically very strong and healthy mentally, physically, maybe you define it by having a lot of money.
101
I don't know.
102
We could all have conversations and disagreements and agreements on what power means, but I kind of would like to redefine power in a way
103
because I have always heard and seen power spoken about in such a scary,
104
violent sense that power is overpowering people.
105
It's warfare.
106
It's the sense of toxic masculinity that you have to be huge.
107
You have to be loud.
108
You have to be destructive.
109
You have to be better than everyone.
110
Like that's how this message of power and political power and all these things have been fed to me my whole life.
111
And I guess sitting here with you guys now, it has me thinking of what do I define as power?
112
What do I see as power?
113
And that sense of self-empowerment and confidence and feeling steady in
114
that and harnessing your power is acting out of that and being able to have that power affect other things, right?
115
Because the definition, now I'm just really going in my head here, but the definition of power is something, a big force, a powerful force.
116
So whenever I think of that, I think that's something that we must protect and harness
117
and use for good and use for and be intentional with because it's powerful, you know?
118
So whenever I think of my power, I think of how it's something that I want to nourish and protect and share with others.
119
I think of how my voice a lot of the time is my power
120
and the stories and the observations that I wish to share is my power.
121
I want to protect those things and nourish those things and share those things because of their power.
122
It comes back to what empowers you, what disempowers you.
123
Have some awareness as to where you're placing your power.
124
Where are you placing your focus?
125
Where are you placing your time?
126
What are you prioritizing in your life?
127
When we put a lot of our focus, energy, time, power, physical, mental energy into things that bring us down,
128
make us insecure, make us feel bad, make us feel unhealthy.
129
These things are disempowering and we don't always notice it, right?
130
It goes back to the self-sabotage.
131
We don't always notice when these things start to trickle in.
132
And it's kind of frightening
133
because a lot of the time your brain sort of tricks you into the fact that you want those things.
134
Like for example, gossiping, right?
135
Talking about other people all the time and putting your energy into it all day.
136
If you're just complaining and speaking negatively, your words are your power, right?
137
Like how do we define power?
138
I know it goes back to all these things, but your words are your power.
139
Who are you speaking of all the time?
140
Who are you thinking about all the time.
141
Where are you placing all this focus?
142
Because it's precious and it's powerful.
143
So having awareness as to, oh wow, yeah, I am gossiping all the time
144
and putting all my energy into this person I'm talking about or the person who I am talking shit with.
145
Where are you pouring all of this?
146
Because human beings, at the end of the day, we have a lot of attention.
147
We can create a lot of things.
148
We can do a lot of things, but we tend to waste so much of that precious power and energy
149
on things that we don't like or things that we don't want to continue.
150
There's something that feels satisfying and fulfilling
151
and good about noticing the lack of something and complaining about it
152
and adding to it by putting more and more of your precious energy.
153
When at the end of the day, we've always been shown that whatever we focus on, whatever we put our energy into, we grow more of.
154
If we put all of that power and focus that we're putting into everything that we don't want, people that we don't really want to be around, things that we don't like,
155
if instead, you know, we acknowledge that and thought about the things that we do want, that we do desire, that we do want to create,
156
think about how different your life would be.
157
Think about how different things could be if we made that switch.
158
And I bring up the example of gossip and all of that because I've noticed that that's one of the sneakiest ones.
159
That's a slippery, quick, easy way to become and disempowered is speaking badly on other people,
160
putting other people down that will immediately, even if you don't feel it and your ego thinks that it's doing the opposite, it's disempowering.
161
You're placing your energy into other people's problems.
162
Is that really what you want to do with your life?
163
Is that what you wanna focus on?
164
If it is, then have fun.
165
But I don't think a lot of us want to stay miserable,
166
want to stay complaining about others or being in environments where there are people to complain about.
167
Guys, we have the power.
168
We have the power to change our lives.
169
We have the power to focus on what we want, therefore to find other people who want the same thing,
170
to attract greater communities of people that we enjoy being around.
171
You don't have to stay stuck.
172
You don't have to stay in the same place forever.
173
You don't have to surround yourself with the same type of people forever.
174
You can make a change.
175
You are the one who harnesses your power and decides where to place it.
176
Where are you putting it?
177
What are you getting back?
178
I think it's important to figure out what you're pouring into and what you're getting back from that.
179
Just look at it.
180
I know that maybe our jobs or our careers or integral relationships like our parents or our children,
181
some of these things are not always very empowering relationships.
182
Sometimes we feel like we have to give our all.
183
Sometimes we do feel like we have to sacrifice what empowers us to caretake or to get responsibilities done.
184
I understand that.
185
Where are you voluntarily placing your power into things that don't make you feel good, that don't give back to you,
186
that don't, maybe some would say, fill your cup.
187
What is emptying you?
188
Where are you not getting things back?
189
And how can we change that?
190
I wrote down here that women,
191
I feel like, especially fall into very disempowering situations and are often encouraged to stay quiet.
192
I mean, I just see it domestically so much in
193
so many cultures that there are roles that people just are expected to do.
194
And even if it's something that is painful or disempowering or abusive, even when somebody has convinced you that they have taken your voice,
195
taken your power, it's hard to move from a powerless place.
196
And I've watched a lot of people in my own family go through this.
197
And obviously we see so many groups of people in our society go through this constantly, a sense of disempowerment just in the way that you're perceived or the roles you're expected to be in.
198
I think it's just important to find the places that we can empower ourselves.
199
Is it through community?
200
It's so important to have people that we feel empowered by.
201
Toxic relationships with family, with friends, gossip, superiority complexes, all these things can be so draining.
202
And to feel like you have to prove something or
203
that you need to show up a certain way that isn't authentically you is very disempowering.
204
So where can you find community of like-minded people?
205
Where can you place your focus on things that you'll meet others who are doing the same?
206
You know, that's what i've just reflected on a lot with my poetry recently is I used to feel
207
So alone with my writing and thought that I was kind of not not
208
so weird But I just felt like insecure
209
and felt like it was a little bit strange sometimes to be so Vulnerably performing spoken word poetry.
210
I felt alone in it and I felt empowered in it when I would do it myself But like I said, it's very easy to fall off of
211
that It's very easy to get back into a state of feeling disempowered again
212
And I found that like-minded individuals and community exists out there.
213
People who believe in what you believe or believe in you and your art or they believe in themselves and that's inspiring.
214
Those people exist and you have the power to focus on what you love and to find those people.
215
What is it that you need to nourish to empower yourself more?
216
Maybe it's your confidence.
217
Maybe you feel as though you have low self-esteem.
218
Where are areas that you can show up for yourself more?
219
What can you affirm to yourself?
220
What are little acts of love that make you feel steady in who you are?
221
Maybe it's practicing the things that you love, the hobbies that you love, reminding yourself who you are.
222
Come on, guys.
223
Stop giving your power to other people when it is in the things that you are amazing at, in the person that you are.
224
There is no one like you out there.
225
There is no one with your strengths and your power.
226
And it's time to nourish that, to harness it, to grow it.
227
find what feeds you, what feeds your soul.
228
I know that sounds a little cheesy, but like what nourishes you, what makes you feel happy, what makes you feel funny, what do you enjoy, what do you love to do,
229
what do you wish you could spend your life doing, what are your hobbies, what are your interests, where is that community, how are you talking to yourself, how do you wish to be treated,
230
and start treating yourself as such.
231
We have the power in our decisions, okay, I think that's something that we really must remember.
232
The power lies in our decisions.
233
It lies in our time and our energy and our focus, yes, but we get to make the choice to say, I no longer want to accept this behavior in my life.
234
I don't want to act like this.
235
I don't want to be surrounded by people like this.
236
Or, you know what, maybe I don't want to spend the rest of my life doing this career.
237
What other options can I look into?
238
What can I do?
239
Where do I have the power to learn new things, to learn new skills.
240
What do I love to do?
241
What are my strengths?
242
What makes me happy?
243
What is my power?
244
Because nobody else has that.
245
That's the thing, is once you embody and harness your power, that's the last thing I want to say.
246
Get ready, okay?
247
Why I have a fear of standing in my power.
248
People don't like it, okay?
249
That is the sad truth, and it's something that I have been aware of for a long time,
250
but I've been surrounded by really incredible women and artists recently who they give all of themselves.
251
I see it in the work that they do.
252
I see it that they authentically show up as them, even if it's not perfect.
253
It doesn't mean that they're not insecure sometimes or that it's always easy, but I see how authentic they are to themselves
254
and how they're not afraid to show up as themselves
255
and how they're not comparing themselves to other people or acting out of a state of jealousy or comparison
256
or trying to put other people down.
257
No, they show up as them and they're proud of that.
258
They love themselves and know that there's room for everybody and there's room for everybody to shine.
259
And it's just been really refreshing to be around that.
260
I haven't come across it a lot in this life, which I hope changes.
261
I really do.
262
And I think it will.
263
It has based on how I go about this life
264
and what I try to stay aware of and how I try to treat others, but I have not always been around a lot of empowered people.
265
I have learned.
266
When you're around somebody, I know we've all encountered an empowered, confident person.
267
And when you're around somebody like that, you can tell that they're not waiting for validation.
268
And if you also feel that way about yourself, it's a very comforting thing to be around others like that.
269
If you don't feel that way, it can be very intimidating and I've been intimidated by those types of people before
270
and I think it's really easy to criticize those types of people.
271
Oh, how are they so confident?
272
They shouldn't be.
273
They shouldn't be so confident.
274
Look at what they're doing here.
275
They should be insecure about that.
276
It's very easy to pick people apart who show up as themselves unapologetically.
277
The reaction and the backlash to standing in your power.
278
Just be prepared for it to maybe ruffle a few feathers, okay?
279
when we show up as ourselves authentically when we stand in our power
280
when we come from a place of true confidence
281
and love it can be very intimidating to people who haven't put their power
282
and their focus and to the things that they love
283
and the things
284
that they wish to grow maybe there's a sense of insecurity there's a sense of disempowerment there's a comparison
285
or jealousy going on there's a jump to quick criticism I know
286
that it can be discouraging whenever we start to treat ourselves better, we have certain boundaries, or we are empowering ourselves,
287
those places you used to put your power are going to be like, where'd it go?
288
Where's my attention?
289
Why are you different?
290
Why have you changed?
291
Why are you harnessing your power and becoming sovereign in this way?
292
What's going on?
293
So if there is a little bit of a conflict and a shift in things, I know that that can be scary.
294
I have been there, I understand, but just know that if you are putting your time, focus, power, and energy into things that are keeping you healthy,
295
that are keeping you sustained, and you are not actively putting other people down, harming other people, you're not doing anything wrong.
296
I have not always felt like I've had a safe place to show up as myself 100%
297
and to stand in my full power, to be excited about my power, to nourish the things, my strengths, and to believe in myself truly,
298
to be empowered, and to walk with confidence, and to walk with excitement.
299
I've always felt like I've had to keep myself small, like I said, and to not enjoy these things, and to make them smaller, to dilute myself, and I'm not doing that anymore,
300
and I know that I have gotten better in this way, and I've seen the way that it has changed parts of my life.
301
I see the conflict that it's brought up.
302
I see the peace that it has granted me.
303
There's always going to be a reaction to what you decide to do for yourself.
304
I'm calling my power back and spending time doing the things, listening to the things, enjoying the things that I love,
305
empowering myself in my strengths, in what I love, reminding myself who I am,
306
and in that I'm creating a space to feel empowered and to feel good, and I don't feel as though I've always had that space.
307
So I want to make this video for you guys to have that place, to feel excited about who you are, what you do, what you want to grow in, who you wish to become.
308
I want you to feel as though a community believes in you, that you have the space to flourish in your full power and to not be ashamed of that,
309
to not dim that down, to not dilute it, to not hide it, to not try to put it into something else so it pleases other people.
310
No, I want this to be an episode and a space and a community that you truly remember who you are, what there is to be proud of,
311
to nourish that and to feel that and to celebrate that.
312
I know it's scary to show up authentically as our true selves because it feels like something is threatened.
313
We don't want to get hurt.
314
We don't want to be bullied.
315
We don't want to be taken from.
316
Maybe we don't want to be perceived.
317
Maybe we don't want to be copied.
318
I don't know.
319
There's just like a lot of reasons
320
that have made me want to shy away from what I love
321
or sharing what I love or being who I truly am.
322
I'm not going to let those things silence me
323
or push me down or talk me out of doing what I love
324
or convincing me that I'm not good enough because I know that I have a choice.
325
Anyways, you guys, thank you so much for watching today's episode.
326
I am so grateful for you.
327
Thank you for being here.
328
Thank you for having this conversation with me.
329
I hope that you're having a beautiful morning, afternoon, evening, wherever you are, whatever you may be doing.
330
Thank you for everything.
331
I can't wait to talk to you again very, very soon.
332
Bye.
333
Thank you.

이 레슨에 대해
"take your power back"으로 쉐도잉 기법을 사용해 영어를 연습합니다.
