11
I'm picking a new guy every day from the comments below.
12
So throw your name down as many times as you want, fellas.
13
Today we're going to be in John chapter 16.
14
I'm going to read verses 23 through 24.
15
Very interesting moment.
16
Jesus says, In that day you will ask nothing of me.
17
Truly, truly, I say to you,
18
whatever you ask of the Father in my name,
19
he will give it to you.
20
Until now, you have asked nothing in my name.
21
Ask and you will receive that your joy may be full.
22
I think this moment and this scripture and these comments by Jesus are super interesting and here is why.
23
Jesus knows that after his resurrection that the way he's going to relate to his disciples is going to change.
24
No longer are they going to have the same type of ongoing physical access to Jesus.
25
So he's preparing them for that change.
26
Soon they're going to see the totality of his mission.
27
Then as he's already stated in this chapter,
28
he's going to go to the Father.
29
He's going to send them the Holy Spirit.
30
They're going to understand their sorrow.
31
Then he's going to make that sorrow and turn it into joy
32
and then because of all this how they're going to speak with Jesus is gonna change
33
because of the coming events the spirits gonna come
34
and live in them and then they will ask the spirit about things
35
and for things in Jesus's name in his name now what
36
Jesus is doing here is inaugurating for these men a new era one that we presently live in and get to enjoy.
37
It's the freedom to bring all things directly to the Trinitarian God of the universe.
38
I mean, we get the privilege of speaking to the Father through the Spirit within us and in the name of Jesus.
39
And this is our joy.
40
So do that today.
41
I mean, And seriously, embrace the profound privilege of speaking directly to the God of the universe.
42
And then pray to him today with renewed passion and understanding.
43
Don't just throw some request at the Father today.
44
He's not some distant, impersonal spirit.
45
He's a God who has come close through Jesus by a spirit
46
that indwells us and gives us access to the Father of all creation.
47
So, fellas, pray to God today.
48
But as you do, be mindful of every word,
49
knowing that you are speaking directly to the Father by the Spirit in Jesus' name.
50
And then ask with boldness.
51
Let's see how we change and how God responds.
52
I love you guys.
53
I pray this has blessed you.
54
Get busy in prayer today,
55
and I'll see you right back here again tomorrow.
