1
- If I hadn't have felt it.
2
then I might not have worked as hard as I did.
3
to get where I am today.
4
You woke the dragon, Charles.
5
How do you like me now?
6
you Harvey, your interviews are set up for tomorrow.
7
What?
8
Why don't we just hire the Harvard Summer Associate douche?
9
I think if you listen to the phrasing of that question, you'll come up with an answer.
10
We need people who think on their feet, not another clone with a rod of pizzazz.
11
Harvey, the fact
12
that we only hire from Harvard gives us a cachet that's a little more valuable than hiring a kid from Rutgers.
13
You went to Harvard Law.
14
I'm an exception.
15
Find me another one.
16
Can we please skip the recruiting?
17
I work better alone anyway.
18
Well, I would, Harvey, except all senior partners get an associate.
19
It's just a rule.
20
I'm sorry, what?
21
Jessica, I deserve that promotion.
22
My billables destroy his.
23
And I'm here night and day doing whatever's needed instead of swanning in and out of here whenever I please.
24
I must admit, he does make me sound very swan -like.
25
Harvey?
26
Shut up.
27
Lewis?
28
This is how it is.
29
Right now, you two make nice.
30
Lewis.
31
I apologize.
32
I was out of line.
33
Now, if you'll just let me text your pretend wife that I just made senior partner, I...
34
What?
35
Too far?
36
Come on, she doesn't even exist.
37
How was that nice?
38
It's not mean.
39
Lewis, come on.
40
Lewis, just messing around with you.
41
Ask Harold to dye his hair.
42
Orange is the color of a clown.
43
No, strike that.
44
Harold is a clown.
45
Come on.
46
Annual survey of associates came out.
47
Pearson Hardman ranked second to last in quality of life.
48
He'll beat us.
49
Lewis, I know you take great pride in making the associates' lives miserable.
50
Well, I did until the survey said that I was second best at it.
51
You're missing the point.
52
Harvard wants to rescind our on -campus recruiting privileges.
53
What?
54
Thank you.
55
Wait, Pearson -Hardman is Harvard.
56
Harvard is Pearson -Hardman.
57
One can't survive without the other.
58
There's no need for histrionics just yet.
59
Histrionics?
60
This is the gravest day I've ever known.
61
Jessica, let me handle this.
62
Why do you think I'm here?
63
Why didn't you come to me first with this?
64
Because if I had come to you with this first, You would have thought I was trading on our relationship.
65
- Aren't you?
66
- No. And if we weren't together, I would have gone to both of you.
67
All right.
68
So I went to both of you.
69
Now, it may not have been perfect, but There was no perfect way of doing it unless I hadn't done it.
70
Now that sounds pretty perfect to me.
71
What are you so afraid of?
72
Do I have to draw you a picture?
73
I'm not the one that made up the saying, you don't shit where you eat.
74
Am I the shit or the food in this little painting of yours?
75
Because if we're just a fling, then what difference does it make whether I work with you or not?
76
I didn't say we're just a flame.
77
Then, if there really is a chance for us, then why not go for both?
78
Because I've seen what happens when things go south between partners.
79
And I'm not willing to put my business in jeopardy.
80
Your business?
81
Yes.
82
My business.
83
The one that I have fought tooth and nail to keep together.
84
The same business that you strolled into with a shotgun.
85
and said, "Marry me, or I'll start shooting." Jess, if you want me to apologize for the way that I asked, then I will.
86
But I don't ask for things that I don't want.
87
And what I want is to work at Pearson Spector and to keep seeing you.
88
Those two things are not both gonna happen.
89
Then I guess you have to decide what's more important to you.
90
What we have or what you have.
91
Lewis. Do you need something?
92
Actually, yes.
93
- I'm sorry.
94
Thank you.
95
I need you to waive my non -compete so I can take a position at another firm.
96
- Bratt & Gould.
97
- I had nothing to do with...
98
Allison holds poaching.
99
What did she offer you?
100
I went to her.
101
Why?
102
I got Harvey's message.
103
What message?
104
You don't know?
105
- Thank you.
106
It doesn't matter.
107
This is what he wants.
108
And this is what you want.
109
You know you can't take clients.
110
Oh, I...
111
Wouldn't even if I could.
112
I have no desire to hurt our firm.
113
Your for Do you know why I instituted the Lewis Litt rehabilitation program?
114
Because I was seduced by Daniel Hardman once too.
115
He made me feel special. and smart. and valued.
116
The problem was, He really didn't give a shit about me.
117
But I will give him one thing.
118
He was right about you.
119
All right.
120
You deserve a senior partnership.
121
you - - I'm gonna let you go Lewis.
122
Just for the record, I am not on the same page as Harvey.
123
I don't want you to go.
124
Gerald Tate fired the firm.
125
So you're taking my promotion away?
126
You know, most firms would put you in front of the bar and have your license stripped.
127
You lied to a client and he figured it out.
128
I lied to him to get him to do the right thing and honor his goddamn contract.
129
And you didn't seem to mind so much when you thought I got away with it.
130
But you didn't get away with it.
131
And I can't justify handing you a promotion on the same day that you lose a huge client.
132
One client doesn't make a firm.
133
I don't know if you've noticed, but we're in the middle of an economic meltdown.
134
Companies aren't exactly lining up to spend money on attorneys right now.
135
And you know, Gerald might have forgiven the lying, had you not humiliated him.
136
But you did, and you need to accept that.
137
Jessica, if you hadn't done as much for me as you have, I'll be heading for the door.
138
If I hadn't done as much for you as I have, I'd be throwing you out the window.
139
But Harvey, no more shenanigans.
140
You do one more thing that isn't straight as an arrow, and instead of covering your ass, I will put you in front of the bar myself.
141
When I found out the truth about Mike Ross, It had already been done. By RV.
142
Right after he made senior partner over me, that's.. when he hired the fraud, that's the correct timeline, right?
143
Yes.
144
So instead of turning him in, you cover it up.
145
- Lewis.
146
- And the one time that I do something, You don't cover it up at all.
147
You throw me to the wolves.
148
I saved you from the wolves.
149
They'll ask you for the smallest gesture.
150
just to allow my career to continue with dignity, and you couldn't muster the tiniest shred of compassion.
151
What do you want me to say?
152
I want you to tell me you're a liar! And a hypocrite!
153
you I want you to say you're sorry.
154
I am a liar. And I am...
155
a hypocrite.
156
But I will not say I'm sorry.
157
Because I did what I did to protect this firm.
158
Well looks like the captain's about to go down with their ship.
159
Bullshit.
160
You want something.
161
Oh, I told you, I want to see you in-- In handcuffs?
162
If that were true, the police would be here instead of you.
163
No. You? wanted to see me squirm before asking me for what you really want.
164
I'm not gonna give you the satisfaction.
165
Jessica.
166
Edward.
167
Daniel, haven't seen you since that business in Milan.
168
Beautiful weather.
169
Oh, enough.
170
We are not friendly adversaries, Daniel.
171
And you're about to lose.
172
My client already said no. He may no longer listen to you when I inform him of your prior embezzlement.
173
You told him.
174
I didn't tell him anything.
175
I found it on my own.
176
Edward and I are merging.
177
I had to show him the books.
178
Legally required to show me her books.
179
And unlike you, I don't break the law.
180
A fact that Hanley Folsom could be made acutely aware of.
181
You do?
182
Break the law, Jessica.
183
Not reporting embezzlement is a crime.
184
Thank you.
185
Why don't you bring that up at your sentencing hearing?
186
Why don't I sue you?
187
You could.
188
Anybody could sue anybody, but you still don't have proof that I told him.
189
And our firms combined have ten times the resources that yours don't-- Oh, wait.
190
You don't have a firm.
191
You're just here.
192
Living in Zane's offices, working on those cases that will no longer be yours when we're done with you.
193
Goodbye, Daniel.
194
Thank you.
195
Oh.
196
Get your client to sign those papers, will you?
197
Hmm.
198
Want to pour me one of those?
199
Help yourself.
200
Thank you. So...
201
What's going on with Mike Ross?
202
How do you know I'm thinking about Mike Ross?
203
Who else would it be?
204
He got you on the ropes?
205
No, I got him.
206
And he's about to go down.
207
How do you know?
208
Because the only way to stay in the game is to get Walter Gillis to give up his dream.
209
And you don't think he has the stomach to rip off the arm to save the body?
210
No, he doesn't.
211
You don't seem to feel good about that.
212
No, I don't.
213
Hard.
214
Do you remember when I gave you the Collins case?
215
Yeah.
216
It was brutal what we had to do.
217
It's my first taste of that kind of thing.
218
And you loved it.
219
What's your point?
220
Some people love the taste of blood.
221
Other people, Mm -hmm.
222
Better to find out who you are sooner than later.
223
You saying I'm doing him a favor?
224
I'm saying.. you're being who you are.
225
and letting him be who he is.
226
What are you doing?
227
Sometimes I like to come and just watch.
228
See how far you've come?
229
Something like that.
230
Gives it and take the deal, Jessica.
231
I'm sorry I was wrong.
232
No, Louis, you were right.
233
He's family and we had to try. And whoever's left...
234
We'll be stronger.
235
Thank you.
236
Even if we're smaller.
237
Nice speech.
238
Let's hope it takes.
239
It's got a better chance of taking now that he made him sign the agreement.
240
That it does.
241
Speaking of which, when exactly did you know you were going to do that?
242
Oh, about 15 seconds after Donna told me he knew.
243
You didn't feel the need to bring me in on that plan?
244
I felt the exact opposite.
245
What are you talking about?
246
Harvey.
247
Lewis wants to see you suffer.
248
If I had told you, you would have had to fake it.
249
And you're a shitty actor.
250
Excuse me, but I can act.
251
No, everybody thinks they can act.
252
The fact of the matter is, well, you're just a pretty face.
253
Oh, you think I'm pretty?
254
Pretty stupid.
255
Hey, got your message.
256
Is there something wrong with Felton Securities?
257
Not at all.
258
Oh my god.
259
I just assumed since you wanted to meet here in Malone's office.
260
Well, this isn't his office anymore.
261
Oh, did he get fired?
262
No. But he is moving.
263
Lewis, I know it hasn't always been easy for you to embrace new partners.
264
But you've made a great effort. with Jeff.
265
All the days work.
266
And your day's work has benefited this firm for years.
267
So we thought it was time to show you a little overdue appreciation.
268
office.
269
Thank you.
270
I gave this office to Jeff because I wanted him to feel valued here.
271
But the truth is, I...
272
Amen.
273
I should have given it to you.
274
- No. Jessica.
275
To what do I owe the honor?
276
What can I do for you?
277
Lewis, I am coming to you.
278
Because the question isn't what you can do for me, but what can I do for you?
279
Harvey and I were very impressed by what you did with Charles Schwarzman.
280
I'm impressed that you understand how impressive it was.
281
And since we couldn't figure out how best to show our gratitude, I'm here to ask you what you would like.
282
I'm sorry.
283
Um...
284
You want to give me...
285
A reward.
286
Anything I want?
287
All you have to do is that.
288
Excuse me?
289
I think I was clear.
290
I want my name on the door.
291
I can go third.
292
Lewis, name partner isn't something I can just hand out.
293
But you just said I saved the day.
294
You just said you saved the day.
295
I said we wanted to show our gratitude.
296
By telling me I get to choose whatever I want except for the one thing I really want.
297
Maybe I should have been more clear.
298
Maybe you should have.
299
I mean, you're a goddamn lawyer after all.
300
Lewis?
301
Then let me be clear right now.
302
I am giving you an opportunity to accept a well -deserved thank you with grace.
303
You can either take it or you can turn it into a personal snub
304
and ruin all the goodwill that you've just earned with me and Harvey.
305
The choice is yours.
306
Can I get back to you on that?
307
I'm sorry, what?
308
Can I get back to you on that?
309
That's all I can hope for, Louis.
310
Why don't you get these?
311
You mean tickets to the Royal Shakespeare Company's production of King Lear?
312
The show was sold out the minute these tickets went on sale.
313
I live for King Lear.
314
How did you know that?
315
It's my job to know that. But why?
316
Louis, your billables are outstanding.
317
You've landed three high -profile clients in a month, and I want to show you my appreciation.
318
Ha!
319
And I'm very happy that you're excited.
320
So should we get to number four or after the play?
321
Uh, um, I, I don't know.
322
Jessica, do you remember when we went to that Yankee game
323
and you caught that foul ball and you ate all my nachos?
324
Did we go to the steakhouse that night?
325
Oh, that was a good meal. Have a good time.
326
You know what, Lewis?
327
Dinner after.
328
I'll have Norma make a reservation.
329
Fantastic.
330
I mean, that was the most brilliant portrayal of King Lear I have ever seen.
331
not between the dragon and his wrath.
332
Thank you for tonight, Jessica, really.
333
This is nice.
334
This is really...
335
Really nice.
336
You're welcome, Lewis.
337
And yes, this was really nice.
338
Listen, I...
339
I just want you to know how much I appreciate everything that you do for this firm.
340
I take a lot of pride in my work.
341
I know, and you're very good at what you do.
342
Okay, can you just please...
343
say that once in front of Harvey.
344
Lewis, I know you and Harvey have a rivalry.
345
And the truth is that right now Harvey is more valuable to the firm. But...
346
That doesn't always mean that he's going to be on top.
347
Because another truth is, is that I can't always count on Harvey to listen to him.
348
But I can count on you.
349
Yeah.
350
Yes, you can.
351
So you keep doing what you're doing, Louis, and you're going to be just Fine.
352
And if he doesn't know it already, I promise, Harvey?
353
is going to understand just how valuable you are to him.
354
next week there's a revival of cats?
355
No. - No. Look who it is.
356
Bonnie and Clyde, just the people I wanted to see.
357
What do you want, Sean?
358
To serve you with this.
359
What the hell is that?
360
He wants all files relating to the Gillis industry to take over.
361
Oh, I don't want the files.
362
I'm taking them.
363
Bullshit.
364
We have 60 days to fight that or comply.
365
You want to tell him or should I?
366
It's not a subpoena, Harvey.
367
It's a search warrant.
368
So you're going to give me all the files, or you're going to head downtown with these two fine gentlemen.
369
Okay, Sean.
370
Have it your way.
371
You're going to take that hole.
372
You're going to run into what appears to be the mummified remains of a legal secretary.
373
Her name is Norma.
374
Mm -hmm.
375
She's gonna limp you up to the 60th floor, where you will find 30 years worth of files that haven't been sorted since the Reagan administration.
376
Where's the 56th floor?
377
It could be the 35th floor for all I know.
378
Point is, while you're trying to find the Ark of the Covenant, we'll be downtown in front of a judge blocking this bullshit.
379
Okay.
380
But who do you think is gonna get the job done faster?
381
You and those two windbreakers or Bonnie and Clyde?
382
- -Okay, look, I...
383
-Shut your mouth.
384
I risked everything for you.
385
Then I did it again. And again.
386
Wait, you weren't there.
387
I didn't have to be.
388
Jessica?
389
You don't work for Jessica.
390
You work for me.
391
I know I do, but I was just trying to get you what you wanted.
392
Your name on the door.
393
No. You got Edward Darby's name on the door.
394
My part of the deal is gone.
395
What?
396
You never told me that.
397
- I didn't think I needed to tell you that because I didn't think you would ever betray me.
398
Harvey, look at what we've done.
399
You and me!
400
You broke the Chinese wall.
401
I got information directly from Scotty.
402
That's two ethical violations that six weeks ago would have made your stomach turn.
403
That's not why you did it.
404
Fine.
405
But look me in the eye and tell me it's not true anyway.
406
You know what?
407
It doesn't matter, because you don't get to make my decisions for me.
408
Isn't that what you were trying to do for me?
409
Bye.
410
Thank you.
411
This is a private conversation.
412
You want to have it out.
413
Let's have it out.
414
Right now.
415
You might want to go.
416
Thank you.
417
Sorry.
418
You're back in the associate's pool.
419
Harvey, come on.
420
Turns out you're not the best lawyer I've ever seen.
421
In fact, you're fired.
422
No. He's not You gonna overrule me on that too?
423
You can go.
424
Huh?
425
I didn't overrule you on the other.
426
I beat you fair and square.
427
No!
428
You didn't.
429
- You're right.
430
I cheated.
431
Like you.
432
you You jump to the other side.
433
You put me on the other side.
434
I had a deal.
435
that put your name right next to mine.
436
And it wasn't even up there yet, and you started acting like it was on top of mine.
437
To protect you.
438
Bullshit.
439
This wasn't about protecting me, this was about advancing you.
440
That's what this whole thing is about.
441
What?
442
Hartman said it.
443
I didn't think it was true.
444
He said, you don't trust me.
445
He meant...
446
You're afraid of me.
447
afraid of you?
448
Thank you.
449
Boy, I just kicked your ass.
450
And you didn't just want it.
451
You begged me for it. So now?
452
You're going to stay here. Be humble.
453
and learn your goddamn plays.
454
He made me take a million dollars out of the deal so I couldn't turn on him later.
455
Jesus Christ.
456
I had no choice.
457
Bullshit you had no choice.
458
You could have said no at any god damn point along the way, but you didn't because all you cared about was yourself.
459
Okay, if I care about myself so much, how come I'm in here telling you that I'm gonna confess?
460
You wanna confess?
461
Be my guest.
462
Arzy?
463
That's enough.
464
Lewis.
465
The problem with that is that we're innocent.
466
Cahill's plan is to throw mud against the wall and see what sticks.
467
You tell him about what you did and all of a sudden, Everything sticks.
468
Okay.
469
I have to do something to help.
470
You will.
471
When the time comes.
472
Right now, I need to talk to Harvey.

Zo oefen je met deze video
