Recently, I took a coach from Toronto to Montreal to visit my brother.
8
It is a journey that normally takes about five hours, but this bus company stops halfway for a 30 -minute break.
9
I chose to travel by public transportation because I don't like driving long distances.
10
When I travel via bus, I can read or work on my computer or sleep.
11
I find this helps me arrive relaxed.
12
In fact, I often opt for the public transportation option if I can.
13
Overall, I felt the journey was quite comfortable.
14
Because it was a coach, the seats were very spacious and reclined enough that I could get some sleep.
15
There was also a Wi -Fi connection, which is something I haven't seen on a bus before.
16
I didn't use it, but I saw several other people connect to it.
17
Traveling in the spring also means it was a very scenic journey.
18
To get to Montreal from Toronto, you spend a lot of time on highways surrounded by lush green nature, so that was nice.
19
The price, however, was a little steep.
20
I think I paid a hundred and ten dollars for a return ticket which to me is quite expensive I
21
suppose it would have been cheaper to drive
22
but I feel arriving fresh is money well spent
23
so on the whole the entire experience was a positive one I would highly recommend public transportation to anyone

About This Lesson

You're practicing English with "IELTS Speaking Part 2 - Topic A Trip You Made By Public Transport" using the Shadowing technique — a method originally developed for professional interpreter training.

Focus on sounding like the speaker — not just repeating words. With 15–30 minutes of daily practice, you'll build real-world speaking confidence.

What is the Shadowing Technique?

Shadowing is a science-backed language learning technique originally developed for professional interpreter training and popularized by polyglot Dr. Alexander Arguelles. The method is simple but powerful: you listen to native English audio and immediately repeat it out loud — like a shadow following the speaker with just a 1–2 second delay. Unlike passive listening or grammar drills, shadowing forces your brain and mouth muscles to simultaneously process and reproduce real speech patterns. Research shows it significantly improves pronunciation accuracy, intonation, rhythm, connected speech, listening comprehension, and speaking fluency — making it one of the most effective methods for IELTS Speaking preparation and real-world English communication.
