Overall, Vietnam is pursuing growth on multiple fronts, from expanding industries to improving public services and safeguarding people's interests.

Right, and well, setting its eye towards the distant future as well, especially with the introduction of the recent announcement of 10 strategic technology groups as priorities for future development.

That is detailed in Government Decision 21 to ensure Vietnam's long-term growth and competitiveness.

It is believed that these industries are expected to become new engines of growth.

The challenge now is how to mobilize the long-term capital needed to help these industries scale up and succeed.

This Vietnamese startup specializes in mobile robotics and AI-driven technologies.

It provides automation solutions for intra-logistics, vision-based quality inspection systems, compliance and safety monitoring,

as well as productivity measurement tools.

The company is now looking to expand into South Korea, Japan and other Asian markets.

We are currently funding R&D and new strategic product development with our own resources.

By late this year or early next year, we expect to launch new fundraising round to support future growth.

In 2026, our focus will be on expanding our customer base

and project portfolio to strengthen our fundamentals and enhance our appeal to investors.

According to the Vietnam Innovation and Private Capital Report 2026,

annual investment demand is expected to rise from around $160 billion in 2025 to $270 billion by 2030.

Bank financing alone can no longer meet the economy's capital needs.

Early state venture funds and angel investors are critical for innovation.

While Series A, B and C startups already have revenue streams, I believe greater support is needed at the earliest stages.

Many promising ideas emerge from universities, research institutes and businesses, but they need funding to refine products and reach commercialization.

Once they do, they can attract larger investment funds.

Venture capital investment rebounded to $509 million in 2025,

despite fewer deals, as investors focused on stronger founders, clearer business fundamentals, and more mature opportunities.

Meanwhile, an upgrade to FTSE Russell's emerging market status could attract an estimated $5 to $8 billion in foreign inflows in the coming years.

Vietnam is accelerating efforts towards the market upgrade while also pushing ahead the framework for the International Financial Center.

At the same time, the state's Securities Commission revealed

that a specialized exchange for startups is being studied and will be launched next year.

The positive signal is expected to help attract more capital inflows into startups operating in strategic industries.

In the early days, you need $10,000, $50,000.

Then you go to the stock market and then you unleash the real amount of capital.

We're talking about tens of millions, potentially hundreds of millions of dollars.

And those are then large companies.

These companies can be built from Vietnam.

And having the instrument of an IPO for the ones that are promising is very necessary for Vietnam's future.

Vietnam is projected to have a $3 to $5 billion IPO pipeline between 2026 and 2027.

This could help diversify the stock market beyond banks and real estate, while create more credible exit opportunities for private equity and venture capital investors.

From startups seeking early-stage funding to companies preparing for IPOs,

access to capital remains a critical factor in building Vietnam's next generation of strategic industries.

To find out how Vietnam can unlock more private investments for these sectors, our reporters spoke with Max F.

So first of all, thank you so much for being here with us.

So now Vietnam is pursuing several major financial reforms,

including efforts towards an emerging market status and the development of an international financial center.

So how important are these initiatives in strengthening investor confidence?

So for now there's much more visibility of Vietnam as a market.

It's not only like the growth rates for Vietnam, as I say correctly, like all of the policy reforms that we have seen resolution 57,

68, you name it, and now also with the launch of the VIFC.

But now everyone is asking what's next?

So what we try to do is like to move from policy to really capital and capital deployment.

So the next one or two years will be critical that we really convert this into reality.

So how can Vietnam better connect global institutional capital,

domestic financial resources and private investment to better support the development of technology and strategic industries.

It's not enough that we have like one company or two that are successful.

We really have to build a dozen companies that can be successful.

I think it's already very clear from the government what are the ten strategic industries to focus on.

And there's a lot of venture capital going on into these ten industries.

But to really make it sustainable and to attract global capital,

So we have to ensure that all of these laws are really also being realised in real business life day to day.

So how important is the development of domestic institutional investors, such as pension funds or insurer funds,

in order to reduce Vietnam dependence on foreign capital over the long term?

That's a very good question.

So I was in both in Hong Kong and Singapore,

the conference, and I talked with the headquarter companies of insurance companies,

of international banks, and all of them said they want their local entity,

the Vietnamese-based entity, to invest into a local V&D-denominated fund.

But as of today, it doesn't allow it from a regulatory perspective.

So their hope is that through the Vietnam International Financial Center,

that there can be a registered fund manager who can start the B&D-denominated fund.

So we can easily leverage three to five billion of dollars just going into the private capital industry

if we can change the regulation for it.

So now it looks promising, but again, just the promise or the hope is not enough.

So we really have to make sure that this is all put really in reality in the next 12 to 24 months.
