1
I'm honestly getting a bit sick of the short-form content of Instagram and TikTok, so today I wanted to film this video and show you everything that I bought in the United States.
2
I live in Berlin, but I recently traveled to New York and San Francisco, and I'm always super curious to see what people bring back from their travels.
3
So today I will show you everything except for souvenirs, because I cannot show you those.
4
But we'll talk about makeup and beauty products, clothes, snacks, and some random things that I cannot put into any category.
5
The first thing that I wanted to show you is this carry-on that I bought in Marshalls, I think, for $60.
6
Because I underestimated how much stuff I will have already traveling to the States.
7
So I ended up bringing an extra carry-on suitcase back to Berlin.
8
Like a typical tourist, I bought the I Love New York t-shirt.
9
And I know it's overpriced and I could have bought the same one from AliExpress.
10
But honestly, it wasn't that expensive.
11
I think I paid around $25 for two.
12
And honestly, when I will be wearing it, I will always remember that I bought it on that
13
hot May day on the 5th avenue and not just ordered from aliexpress.

20
During my trip I developed a slightly unhealthy obsession with Sour Patch Kids so I brought back two packs.
21
I got the ice breakers, ice cubes, the chewing gum in cinnamon flavor.
22
Then I bought a bunch of different chewing gums.
23
I found the Skittles that we actually don't have in Berlin and I'm curious to try them.
24
They are called freeze dried candy, crispy and crunchy.

Why This Video Is Perfect for English Speaking Practice

This video is a goldmine for english speaking practice because it features natural, conversational speech—exactly the kind you’d use in daily life. The speaker shares personal experiences, uses casual phrases, and varies her tone, making it ideal for shadow speak (repeating aloud to mimic rhythm and pronunciation). Unlike scripted content, her flow includes pauses, asides, and relatable anecdotes, which help learners master real-world communication.

Breaking Down Natural Speech Patterns

Let’s analyze a few lines to see why they sound authentic. First: “I'm honestly getting a bit sick of the short-form content of Instagram and TikTok, so today I wanted to film this video…” The phrase “getting a bit sick of” is casual and common, replacing formal terms like “tired of.” It also uses a comma to connect two thoughts, mirroring how we speak. Second: “Like a typical tourist, I bought the I Love New York t-shirt.” Starting with “Like a typical tourist” adds a conversational flair, showing self-awareness. Third: “I almost forgot that I also got the peptide lip shape!” The exclamation and “almost forgot” make the speech feel unscripted, a key trait of natural dialogue. These examples teach you to sound less robotic and more human.

A Simple Shadowing Routine to Try

Use this video for shadowing site practice with a repeat-and-record loop. Here’s how: 1) Watch a 10-second clip, focusing on intonation and pauses. 2) Pause and repeat the clip aloud, matching the speaker’s speed and stress (e.g., emphasize “honestly” in “I'm honestly getting…”). 3) Record yourself. 4) Compare your recording to the video—note differences in rhythm or pronunciation. Repeat with longer clips as you improve. This method, often called shadowspeak, trains your mouth and brain to work together, making English feel more natural. Learn english with youtube by turning this shopping haul into a tool for fluency—you’ll not only practice speaking but also learn vocabulary for travel, shopping, and daily life.
