1
Hey everybody, Stephen from Asian Boss here.
2
We've been conducting street interviews across Asia for over a decade
3
now with the goal of bringing you the most authentic on-the-ground cultural and social insight that you won't find anywhere else.
4
One of our earlier street interviews was asking people outside of Korea if they knew which country Samsung was from.

Back then, a surprising number of people thought it was a Japanese or Chinese brand.

13
But is it really the case?

Thank you for your interview today.
220
Thank you.
221
Okay, so as we just saw, Gen Z Koreans aren't choosing their phones based on national pride or brand loyalty.
222
They're choosing based on what fits their identity, what's trending, and in some cases, what their parents didn't use, which is super interesting.
223
Because unless you grew up in Korea, who would have guessed that phone preferences could be shaped by subconscious rejection of control,
224
like the experience of being monitored through Samsung's parental mirroring features back in school.
225
This kind of a deeper insight about how generational tech trauma and social signaling shape consumer behavior
226
is exactly the kind of context you won't get from mainstream media or even chat GPT.
227
You have to talk to the locals on the ground.
228
And that's exactly what we do here at Asian Boss, bringing cultural layers to light one conversation at a time.
229
Let us know in the comments what topic you think we should explore next.
230
And don't forget to like, subscribe, and share, because real human insight matters more than ever.
231
Thanks for watching, and as always, stay curious.
232
Bye.
