Grandpa Leo is seventy-two and very slow. When the big fast boys laugh at him in the park, he has one trick left.
Grandpa Leo can't run fast. He couldn't run fast fifty years ago, either. But he can still play football.
Every Sunday, he plays in the park with the children. They are eight, nine and ten. He is seventy-two.
Last Sunday, the big boys came. They were fifteen and very fast. 'Can we play?' they asked. Then they laughed at Grandpa. 'Can he even kick?'
The children looked at Grandpa. He just nodded.
The big boys ran and ran. The children couldn't stop them. Then the ball came to Grandpa. He couldn't run. So he didn't run. He looked up and kicked the ball very high, over every head.
It fell into the goal.
'How?' the big boys asked.
'I can't run,' said Grandpa. 'So I learned to think.'
