Ao Nung is a skilled diver and hunter, trained from a young age in the ocean ways of the Metcaina.

Athletic, confident and admired by other young males in his clan, he embodies what a future leader of the reef Na'vi might become.

Powerful in water, fearless in deep currents and able to ride ilus through coral labyrinths with ease.

Yet beneath his confident surface lies a youth still learning where he truly stands.

Unlike his sister Sireya, who is calm and empathetic, Anung initially struggles with the unfamiliar,

especially when the Sollys family arrives at the reef.

He and Sireya are told by Tonovari that they have to teach the Sollys their customs.

Cyreia is absolutely fine about it and is happy to show the Sullys their ways, but Ao Noong really doesn't like it.

He laughs at them and is not really friendly.

And when he laughs at Kiri and calls her weirdo and a freak, he gets into a serious fight with Loak.

He gets a few bruises from this fight and he definitely doesn't want to let it go.

And when Loak goes to apologize to him on his father's orders, Ao Noong decides to get revenge on him.

He and his friends take him fishing far beyond the cliffs where they really shouldn't be

and there they leave him at the mercy of the ocean.

Loak almost dies but Payakan, the Tulkun, saves him.

And so Loak made a friend but he could die and he is really mad at Aonung.

When he returns back, Aonung is blamed but Loak takes the blame for Aonung's own own reckless behavior on himself.

Ao Nung is like, what the hell bro, but Loak tells him that he knows what it means to be a disaster for everyone

and that moment marks the turning point of Ao Nung's character.

Not as a bully, but as someone capable of respect and change.

Despite his flaws, Ao Nung never turns his back on what is right.

When the threat of the RDA intensifies and the Reef Navi face danger alongside the Sallis, Ao Nung stands by his fellow warriors.

He helps remove a tracker from the Turkun Payakanth skin, fights to protect others during the skirmish and,

though still learning, shows bravery and growing loyalty in the face of overwhelming odds.

His relationship with the Sallis children changes from one of ridicule to mutual respect.

What began as a disdainful teasing becomes a true friendship, especially after he witnesses their courage and dedication with his own eyes.

Aonung's personal journey is about growth through humility.
