University Medical Center Ho Chi Minh City has pioneered the full transition to paperless electronic medical records,

becoming the first hospital in Vietnam to officially eliminate paper-based files entirely.

The shift is part of a broader digital transformation drive,

encompassing AI-assisted diagnosis, telemedicine and advanced imaging management systems.

For frontline nursing staff, the change has been tangible.

In the past, when we were still using paper records,
14
it was very time-consuming to search for files and quite difficult to ensure complete and accurate documentation.

But now, with electronic medical records,
16
record-keeping has become more convenient and accurate,

and search for patient files is also much easier.

For healthcare facilities, the synchronized rollout of electronic medical records and information systems has helped standardize clinical workflows,

significantly reduce paperwork, cut operating costs, and improve management efficiency.

In digital healthcare, many hospitals in Vietnam have already implemented electronic medical records,

but the problem is a lack of standardization.

Once we achieve that standardization,

different hospital systems drawing from a common data source will give us a unified,
24
interoperable health data system that truly makes a difference.

Beyond records, hospitals in Ho Chi Minh City are also equipping themselves with the latest generation of medical devices,

pushing the boundaries of medical standards within the region.

Our facility has been equipped with the latest ultrasound machines featuring 3D to 4D imaging and AI integration,

the newest models available this year,

which allows us to detect all fetal abnormalities during pregnancy.

Vietnam's Resolution 72 on medical innovation and advancement underscores the creation of interconnected data ecosystems,

interoperability across sectors, and the adoption of global practices to modernize local healthcare governance,

which will align local medical data with international practices.

Bingson Hospital in Ho Chi Minh City has quietly become one of Southeast Asia's most respected centers for high-tech surgery.

Binh Dân Hospital has performed nearly 1,100 surgeries for international patients from 26 countries over the past three years.

So in your view, what factors have enabled the hospital to achieve such high quality and international reputation?

Established in 1954, the young hospital has been the cradle of surgery for Ho Chi Minh City

and the southern part of Vietnam for nearly seven decades.

The hospital actively promotes strategic collaboration with medical society,

medical university and leading hospitals in developed countries such as the United States and European countries.

In line with Ho Chi Minh City's development orientation to become an ASEAN regional healthcare hub specializing in high-tech medicine,

Binh Dân Hospital is now positioned as a leading center for general surgery,

thoracic vascular surgery and urology.

Since 2019, Binh Dân Hospital was recognized
52
and selected by the Da Vinci Company USA as the first robotic surgeon training facility in Vietnam.

This is a significant achievement,

affirming the hospital's professional capacity and reputation in high-tech surgery.

In this role, the hospital has certified 23 robotic surgeons,

including 10 general surgery surgeons and 13 urology surgeons,

along with 13 professional scrub nurses.

The hospital regularly sends doctors abroad for demonstration surgeries and technique transfer to countries like India,

Thailand and Malaysia, while also hosting international doctors for training.

Since 2013, the hospital has continually organized the short-term courses for the total of of nearly 90 urologies from South

and Southeast Asia, including Indonesia,

the Philippines, Nepal, Bangladesh, India,

Malaysia, and Cambodia, providing the in-depth training high-tech urology,

such as percutaneous surgery, urological endoscopy, and laparoscopy.
