1
All right, y 'all, it's time to get back in the swing of things here
2
after Flight 14 went all the way to orbit as we march towards Flight 15.
3
It's a Starbase summary, and this week we've got some Pad 1 OLM work proceeding forward.
4
The Gigabay, nice, your speed's zero, love it.
5
The bridge crane there across the middle in the Gigabay continues forward, and some pipe gets laid out at the port connector construction.
6
Again, this is off Highway 4 over near Brownsville wow look at all
7
that uh is it that's technically cribbing
8
when you're using oh my gosh to stay out of the mud
9
if you haven't picked up one of your flight 14 shirts
10
yet commemorating orbit bones there showing it off over at the
11
highway site there's the pad two dance floor that's dance floor
12
i don't know it's more of a dance plug does
13
that get us into territory we should probably stay away from probably
14
but uh as we talked about before the construction that goes into the middle You can't really get a lift up underneath.
15
You can't roll a taco stand or anything underneath the pad because of the ramps and the flame trench, the diverters, and that sort of stuff.
16
So you put it in from the top.
17
It's got the pads that sort of hold it up
18
and then work areas so you can get to the inside of the over -the -launch mount there on Pad 2.
19
Pad 2's chopsticks are here as well.
20
Are we doing some inspections?
21
Looks like we're maybe taking pictures of things there.
22
Or are we looking for damage or something like that after launch?
23
Why is this important?
24
And, well, pretty likely, I think, that we are all hoping for a catch here at the tower during Flight 15.
25
Not confirmed, but that's what we're hoping that we're all seeing.
26
We're good on the actuators again.
27
We've seen an awful lot of work on these actuators.
28
Like, are they going bad?
29
Do they not like the forces?
30
Is there something about the thermal expansion, like you hit them with the rocket exhaust or rocket exhaust in the vicinity?
31
I don't know, but we keep seeing them doing a lot of work on those hydraulic rams
32
that they use to open and close the chopsticks.
33
Over at Pad 1, I was going to make a joke about finally we can refer to it as the orbital launch mount.
34
Yeah, but that was Pad 2.
35
Pad 2 gets that credit.
36
It's like christening a ship, right?
37
You don't get to call it the orbital launch mount until you, like, break a champagne bottle over the front of it.
38
Champagne bottle, not enough for a structure of this size.
39
Well, actually, ocean -going ships are way bigger than anything SpaceX has ever built.
40
Whatever.
41
Instead of breaking a bottle of champagne over it, you hit it with the exhaust from 33 Raptors, and that christens it as an origin.
42
Well, even that doesn't work.
43
Like, the Raptors have to result in the payload going all the way to...
44
Look, it's complicated, all right?
45
Y 'all tell me what you think the proper christening process
46
for a launch pad should be for it to earn the
47
rightful name of Orbital Launch Mount right bunch of miscellaneous work
48
sort of going on over there you can see they're still working they've got
49
that gantry structure sort of opened up they haven't up armored it i guess armored it in the first place
50
or put the cladding on the sides of it or anything like
51
that still an awful lot of work to do over on pad one
52
so if you were interested in a double catch
53
if that's even a possibility for flight 15 i think uh we're really sort of leaning towards
54
if that is a possibility it and i'm not even saying
55
that it is i think maybe spacex really wants to do
56
that but there's a long way between i love you
57
and i do um you would probably see a booster come back
58
and get caught on pad two
59
and then the ship living in orbit for some amount of time as they de -stack
60
and get the booster out of the way and
61
if it was even a thing the ship would most likely come back down to pad two
62
and get caught in the same place oh no kidding look at this gauge caught a water spout.
63
I guess they were out there working in the field.
64
Gage and Dan and Jerry are all out there doing some operational work in between.
65
Hey, we're driving on the beach.
66
Look at this.
67
This is going to be from the South Padre side because the gulf's on your left and lands on your right.
68
So you're driving from the Southern South Padre jetty back down south.
69
So Mexico is behind this.
70
And if you kept going, you would end up at the Rio Grande.
71
But there's the ASU you can see
72
and of course you saw the two pads there as well
73
nice that's a cool treat all right tankers unloading at the
74
tank farm we got caesar driving by here it looks like
75
quite a bit of vehicles well i say quite a bit
76
i guess it's four vehicles it's not really quite a bit but
77
still i will say that
78
that is one of the most inefficient whoa no way those are the star links
79
that were launched on flight 14 going over starbase they have little trails
80
because of the encoding artifact and the low light camera um no we put i know
81
that we pointed a bunch of cameras towards the sky in the current sort of trajectories
82
and we didn't know if we were going to catch it or or not.
83
But looky there!
84
How cool was that?
85
Nice!
86
A generic shot over the flats at the production site, whatever.
87
Nose cone by the office building.
88
This has been used to test TPS, is what the sign says.
89
You can see, there's some TPS on it.
90
A bunch of little pins sticking out of it as well there.
91
Once again, our speed is zero.
92
Looks like Caesar has pulled over to the side of the road here to take the shot of the Gigabay.
93
That's a pretty cool shot of the Gigabay with the setting sun sort of reflecting on the bottom of it.
94
It looks like one of the big panels that they used to pick up, or I guess the spreaders that they used to pick up
95
and control the panels while they clad it onto the world's largest easy -bake oven.
96
You put your staff, your workers in there, you paint the outside black, you shine the South Texas sun on it, and we'll see how that goes for them.
97
I imagine it's going to be pretty warm, or at least it's going to cost some electricity to keep that thing cooled down.
98
It's like style over function here with SpaceX.
99
I am still a little bit flabbergasted that they painted that building black.
100
Bridge can't assemble.
101
Oh, so down at the bottom, you can see crossing the aisle there.
102
Here we go.
103
We're going to punch in a lot of control systems and stuff on there, but that's the bridge crane.
104
Of course, it needs to go up to the top and then right on rails at the top so that it's useful.
105
But it looks like they're down here at ground level doing a lot of preparation on it.
106
Is that the block?
107
That really does look like it might be the block and the cable there that's maybe being reaved right now.
108
interesting oh there we go we got ship 43 in mega
109
bay 2 back there as well a lot of speculation on
110
that if you sort of uh go down the road
111
and you just count like you know one ship two ship three ship there is some speculation
112
that possibly that ship ends up in florida at some point
113
right so i don't know for sure if that's really a thing
114
that we would say i don't know if we're quite there yet
115
and it's just sort of guessed it's like well
116
if you do it in orbit and you or in order
117
and you say well this ship then that ship then
118
that ship and the order that they're sort of built
119
and then the order of missions we'll come back to
120
that let's say we'll come back to
121
that right it's got some valve work there this is over
122
at the uh sanchez side of obviously yeah it's a1 we've
123
got some pivot arm related stuff here see i was talking about
124
will the ship end up back at cape canaveral at some
125
point that's more miscellaneous parts looks like you bolt it down
126
and then that little uh arm circle cylinder thing wants to say straight
127
up oh there's that um y 'all know
128
that there was an art group that came out there
129
and built this statue the prometheus statue this is not officially
130
a spacex thing uh i apologize i don't really know how
131
to talk about them they're they're an art group like a group of artists foundryists i don't know
132
that that deal in things like this
133
and they made this big statue of sort of prometheus stealing
134
fire it's offering fire back to the gods holding fire up
135
so he doesn't get burned
136
but it looks like could drip on him especially since he
137
doesn't have like any flame retardant clothing on at least his top you wouldn't want
138
that torch to drip on your bare skin i don't know i guess
139
when prometheus was around stealing fire from the gods osha wasn't really a thing
140
but you know you do you prometheus um we'll see i don't know what's going to end up with
141
that thing but it looks like it got
142
verticated so over here at the area i've seen an awful lot of comments down here uh data center
143
potentially right there's all sorts of uh documents
144
that have been filed for the construction here we've got jerry out there
145
so jerry's been doing sort of regular drone flights to sort
146
of see things going forwards remember we got all the little tonka trucks driving around last time the temporary roads
147
that they've put in new news they've actually started standing this
148
thing up i guess it's not particularly new this is maybe
149
some of the oldest news was five six days ago
150
that this started happening but uh wasting no time like the whole slab's not even poured yet
151
and they're already standing up the other end of the building there's a pipe laying operation
152
interesting it's not like a water pipe there are those welding units oh
153
that has like a little sunshade looking thing
154
and do those things drive down the end and oh i gotta go look at those
155
there's a little pipe cranes i've seen a lot of those
156
pipe cranes working on the other side over by the LNG plant.
157
It looks like we're putting some dirt in on top of it.
158
I really want to go.
159
It was tough to see from the aerial view, but those look like things that actually construct the pipe from its individual pipe units.
160
In any event, hey, folks, it's the Starbase summary.
161
Like I said, back into the normal swing of things out here at Starbase.
162
We'll be standing by for information on Flight 15.
163
That's my name there, John.
164
If I respond to you down in the comments, I'll say Das.
165
That's my nickname.
166
But I appreciate y 'all watching, and we will see you nerds later.
