That's an easy question.

Think of sound as energy that we can hear.

Sound is made when things vibrate or move back and forth quickly.

Well, there are parts inside of our necks that vibrate Let's try an experiment

Pluck the strings on a guitar Do you see the strings moving?

Sounds are not all the same.

Pitch is how high or low a sound is.

Can you think of some low sounds?

Listen to your stomach rumble the next time you are hungry.

This is a deep, low sound.

Other sounds have a high pitch, like whistles and police car sirens.

Volume is how loud or soft a sound is.

We need more energy to make louder sounds.

Think about when you hit a drum.

The harder you hit it, the louder the sound is.
