1
I know it's a bit late,
2
but I've been thinking a lot about my future and the things that I want to accomplish this year.
3
So I thought I would share some of my yearly reflections
4
and my thoughts and aspirations for what I want this year to be.
5
This will be kind of like my New Year's resolutions.
6
I love to journal, so I've written all of my thoughts down so far,
7
and I thought I would go through them with you guys.
8
First of all, we're starting off strong.
9
my first goal this year is to go to bed before 12 p.m.
10
I feel like I really need to give myself time to rest
11
and I've realized how important a good night's sleep truly is.
12
I think getting eight hours of sleep,
13
going to bed before 12 p.m.,
14
that's really my bottom line for this year.
15
Second up is one or two vacations this year.
16
And what I mean by vacation,
17
it doesn't necessarily have to be going somewhere new or traveling or even like international travel.
18
I don't really mean it to be something luxurious.
19
I think even taking a few days off and staying at home and getting some rest,
20
that would also be a great vacation to me.
21
But that being said, if I do have the chance to go somewhere,
22
I would love to go back to China
23
and I would love to spend some time hiking and exploring the amazing mountains of China.
24
I really wanted to do that when I was there last time
25
but unfortunately because of time and scheduling I just didn't make it.
26
But no matter what it is I do think a break every once in a
27
while a few days off is really refreshing and it helps to keep you energized.
28
My third resolution for this year is to eat healthy and gain more muscle.
29
I think I already do eat pretty healthily especially compared to past versions of myself
30
so that shouldn't be Maybe I can take it a step further,
31
be even more healthy.
32
But the main thing is I would like to gain some more muscle.
33
I mean, I do exercise,
34
I do some yoga and stuff like that,
35
but I want to step it up a little bit.
36
I want to get stronger and feel myself get stronger.
37
Honestly, I got this thought when I was watching Severance for the first time,
38
the actress who plays Holly.
39
When I first saw her,
40
of course I thought she was beautiful,
41
but I just noticed that she looked really strong.
42
And then I watched one of her interviews and she was talking about how she works out all the time.
43
She is really strong and she can do a lot of things.
44
I just feel like that is really cool.
45
I felt a little bit inspired by her.
46
So I'm definitely gonna be going to the gym more this year.
47
And the fourth resolution is to stop taking things so seriously.
48
Last year, I was really caught up in the seriousness of life,
49
and everything was like life or death to me,
50
but I didn't really have that much fun.
51
I think life is meant to be lived.
52
It's meant to be enjoyed,
53
and you're supposed to have fun.
54
So I'm going to stop taking things so seriously this year
55
and just explore and do the things that I want to do.
56
So the fifth one is kind of weird or kind of random,
57
but I want to watch more movies.
58
I used to love watching movies.
59
I even studied movies in high school and in college a little bit.
60
And I really loved doing that.
61
And I love talking about movies with other people.
62
And maybe it's because I'm a little bit competitive.
63
My brother actually had this goal where he watched a movie every single day.
64
I mean, one movie a day is very extreme.
65
I don't really plan on doing that.
66
but I don't know at least a few a month.
67
I think movies can be really inspiring
68
and it can help me with my creative side
69
so getting more of that creative input will also help with my creative output.
70
The sixth resolution I have is I want to adopt a dog.
71
This is something I have wanted to do for many many years
72
and I just never did it because I was constantly moving.
73
If you guys watched me for a while you know I move like every single year.
74
I never know where I'm gonna be.
75
I don't really feel very stable honestly
76
so I didn't feel it was right for me to put a dog through all
77
that instability but I'm really hoping that this year things can settle down.
78
I'll know what my at least next two years will look like and I'll be able to finally adopt a dog.
79
I did have a dog when I was growing up.
80
She was an adorable little black lab.
81
I had a lot of fun with her when I was a kid
82
and I really miss that whole experience and I also find myself just yearning to take care of something.
83
So I think this will be a really really really great step if I can do that this year.
84
This might be something pushed off towards the end of the year but I think I can do it.
85
And what I have lastly for my seventh New Year's resolution is I want to expand my library,
86
my physical library.
87
Honestly, I posted a video a while ago
88
and behind me I had like a little pile of books and somebody commented and said,
89
wow, that little pile of books, that's too little.
90
Like implying that I don't have enough books.
91
And honestly, I found the comment really funny.
92
I think they were trying to be not very nice,
93
but I did think it was quite amusing.
94
I mean, that little pile of books is not all the books that I have.
95
Most of my books are in my parents' basement because I do move so frequently.
96
It's not very easy to carry so many books,
97
especially when you move by yourself all the time.
98
So I'm hoping that by settling down a bit,
99
I'll have, you know, more permanent space where I can expand and grow my physical library.
100
Also last year I really wanted to read a lot but because of time,
101
because of all the things going on in my life,
102
because of all this craziness,
103
I really didn't hit my reading goals and I feel kind of bad about myself in that way.
104
But I know that this year will be different and those are just the goals that I have so far.
105
I I will probably add to this list as the year goes on because I don't really believe in New Year's resolutions.
106
I feel like you can change parts of your life in any part,
107
any time of your life.
108
It doesn't just have to be in the new year.
109
So maybe in a few months,
110
I'll think of some new things and write them down and keep working on myself.
111
And if you can't tell by this list of all of my goals for this year,
112
I think I am going through a kind of perspective shift in my life.
113
I think in the past,
114
especially the past few years,
115
I went through a very challenging time,
116
not necessarily always in a bad way.
117
Like a challenge is also a good thing to have.
118
You don't wanna be living like a super easy life all the time,
119
but I did spend a lot of time thinking about what other people want
120
and not so much thinking about what I want.
121
And I wanna regain this focus and clarity on myself.
122
I want to kind of focus more on physical and mental health
123
and try to enjoy the time that I have on this earth.
124
The other day, somebody asked me,
125
what are your goals in life?
126
Of course, it's a very broad question,
127
but it really made me think because in the past,
128
I think I definitely would have answered that question in a way of considering my own career.
129
Like I would have said something like,
130
I want to publish a novel.
131
I want to gain a bunch of work experience.
132
I want to become the best teacher I can be.
133
I want to become this amazing person.
134
And while that's all great,
135
it is very much focused on success.
136
But in that moment when I was asked,
137
what are your goals in life?
138
Honestly, what came to my mind was I want to live a happy, peaceful life.
139
I want to spend more time cooking and eating good food.
140
I want to help others.
141
I want to inspire others.
142
I want to be a good friend, a good partner.
143
I want to enjoy my life.
144
And I think these things are honestly a lot more important than how successful you are
145
or how successful other people view you to be.
146
Or maybe I'm just growing up, getting older.
147
Maybe it's a natural kind of change.
148
I don't know.
149
You can let me know if you've gone through a similar change.
150
And I truly hope that this was inspiring or insightful in some ways.
151
Maybe I inspired some of your own goals for this year.
152
You can leave them in the comments,
153
what you want to do,
154
what you want to accomplish,
155
or what you want to focus on this year.
156
And lastly, I just want to reiterate and leave you guys with this lingering thought,
157
which is just you really don't have to wait for a certain time of the year to reinvent yourself
158
or to change something in your life.
159
You can grow and change at any point in any time.
160
All it takes is a little bit of effort.
