You will hear a talk about a summer sports camp for people who are interested in working there.
3
First you have some time to look at questions 11 to 16.
4
Now listen carefully and answer questions 11 to 16.
5
Welcome to this talk about the UK Summer Sports Camp.
6
I'm going to tell you about our Summer Sports Camp for Children and something about the children who come.
7
Later on I'll tell you how to apply if you'd like to work with us this year.
8
So please be patient.
9
Feel free to interrupt if there's anything you don't understand about the way the camp is administered, though if you could save any questions about the work itself until the end, that would be good.
10
The UK Summer Sports Camp offers courses for kids aged 6 to 16
11
which focus on a wide range of sports and activities.
12
Our aim is to provide a fun, safe experience for kids.
13
The reason we're successful is because parents trust us and send their children to us summer after summer.
14
We aren't the cheapest camp around, which might put some people off, but we make sure our team are caring and enthusiastic,
15
and that's why parents want their children to keep coming back, rather than because of the facilities on offer.
16
Great as they are, of course.
17
We think our summer camp is special in a number of ways.
18
We have students from all over the country, not just the local area.
19
We run all the activities you'd expect in a summer camp, arts and music as well as sports.
20
But we also have special coaching for those who might be able to make a career in their chosen sport.
21
What will your role be if you come and work with us then?
22
We need lots of people who are willing to teach the activities, but we also have non -coaching roles.
23
What we particularly like this summer are people who are willing to be in charge of looking after our younger kids.
24
making sure they're happy and have someone to go to if they have any problems.
25
We usually need a few cooks too, though we don't need anyone extra for our office at the moment.
26
This year I'm very pleased to introduce a new role at the camp.
27
Camera person.
28
We need someone with great video and photography skills to record the fun everyone has.
29
We'll supply first -class equipment, but we need you to supply your creative abilities.
30
If you're interested in this role, come and talk to me at the end.
31
Now, you probably want to know about working conditions, hours and pay.
32
This depends on your role.
33
You can choose to work daytimes, evenings or weekends.
34
Daytime coaching roles pay the highest wages because of the sports skills required and the longer hours.
35
If you choose to work in the kitchen, your hours of work will be either at breakfast and lunch or at dinner.
36
Cleaners work in the mornings before the camp activities start at 10am, so not too early.
37
Before you hear the rest of the talk, you have some time to look at questions 17 to 20.
38
Now listen and answer questions 17 to 20.
39
If you do work with us, there are lots of benefits in addition to the money.
40
Whether you're teaching a sport or not, you'll be given access to all our facilities, which means you can have a swim or play a football match without having to pay anything.
41
We have an internet cafe where there's a small charge for access, and we also provide discounted meals in our canteen.
42
We'll give everyone UK Summer Camp t -shirts, which we'll expect you to wear when working, and if you wish, we also have some cool sports bags,
43
which are available for a small fee.
44
So, What do we expect from you?
45
You'll be glad to hear that we don't need to see any formal certificates.
46
If you've worked with kids before, that would be an advantage, but it isn't essential.
47
Of course you need to be sociable and enjoy meeting people.
48
There will always be a supervisor available who you should talk to before making any important decisions.
49
We can't accept applications from people under the age of 18, I'm afraid, But if you haven't got there yet, don't worry.
50
As always, next time.
51
That is the end of part two.
52
You now have 30 seconds to check your answers to part two.
53

Empfohlenes Video

  • "We aren't the cheapest camp around, which might put some people off": Hier wird ein Relativsatz mit "which" verwendet, um eine Folge zu beschreiben. Übe, wie du solche Verbindungen flüssig formulierst.
  • "If you choose to work in the kitchen, your hours of work will be either at breakfast and lunch or at dinner": Die Struktur "either...or" hilft, Alternativen klar zu umreißen.
  • "We can't accept applications from people under the age of 18": Der Ausdruck "under the age of" ist üblich, um Altersgrenzen anzugeben.
