1
- Hello everyone, welcome to Yoga With Adriene.
2
Thank you for being here.
3
Per your request, we have a short wake up video.
4
And I'm delighted because this isn't just mindless stretching.
5
This is something to kind of wake up the spirit and the emotional side, mental side, too not just our muscles.
6
So hop into something comfy and let's get started.
7
(upbeat music) Alright, come on down to the ground.
8
We're gonna actually start in a cross-legged seat in the middle of the mat.
9
Just bring the palms to the knees, sit up nice and tall, take a deep breath in and lift your chest up towards the sky.
10
Gently lift your chin and your nose.
11
Careful not to crunch on the back of the neck.
12
And then round through the spine.
13
Breathe out, draw the chin to the chest.
14
Just catch a little weight in the palms here.
15
And again, inhale, lifting the chest, sitting up nice and tall.
16
And then exhale, rounding through the spine, chin to chest.
17
Pressing the palms into the kneecaps, or pulling.
18
Just want to get a little bit of traction there.
19
One more time, inhale, lift.
20
And exhale, round.
21
Good, now inhale, come to center.
22
Let's bring the palms together in Anjuli Mudra.
23
You can close your eyes here.
24
Or soften your gaze.
25
Take a deep, deep, deep, deepest breath you've taken all morning, all day in.
26
And this time as you exhale, slow everything down.
27
Drop the shoulders.
28
See if you can extend your exhale.
29
And again, inhale in deeply.
30
And exhale, extending that exhalation, making it longer than the inhale.
31
One more time, just a nice, full, conscious breath.
32
Waking up our spirit, that connection to spirit with the breath.
33
And exhale, long and slow.
34
Great, if you like, you can set a little intention here.
35
Maybe it's just one word or it's a sentence.
36
And just trust, maybe the first thing that came up, maybe trust that that's it.
37
Great, bat the eyelashes open.
38
We're gonna start to rub the palms.
39
Benji has come front and center now.
40
(laughs) Benji, do you wanna come over here?
41
Come here! Go lay down over here.
42
Rub the palms together, start to deepen your breath.
43
And then when you're ready, we're gonna come forward onto all fours.
44
Curl the toes under and slowly peel the hips up to a Downward Facing Dog.
45
Now let this be a fluid dog.
46
(laughs) So bend at the knees, shift your weight from left to right in the shoulders, feel a stretch in that side body.
47
You can nod the head a little yes.
48
And then slowly, no.
49
Deep breath in.
50
And as you exhale, walk the hands all the way up to the front edge of the mat, feet hip width apart.
51
Let the weight of your head hang over, bend your knees slightly or maybe generously here depending on how you're feeling in your low back.
52
This time as you inhale, see if you can listen to the sound of your breath as you breathe in.
53
And listen to the sound of your breath as you breathe out.
54
Ground through all four corners of the feet.
55
Slowly start to roll up with bent knees, stacking the spine one vertebra at a time.
56
You're gonna roll up to standing, Mountain Pose.
57
Loop the shoulders forward, up and back.
58
Stand up nice and tall.
59
Take a deep breath in as you lengthen through the crown of the head.
60
Then you're just gonna go right back down, starting with the chin to the chest.
61
A slow roll down of the spine, and see if you can really articulate through the vertebra here.
62
And eventually we'll release, come all the way back down to your Forward Fold.
63
Lovely, from here, walk the feet a little closer together, then step your right foot back and lower your right knee to the ground.
64
Beautiful, from here, palms come together, Anjuli Mudra once again, we inhale in.
65
Exhale, relax the shoulders, breathe here.
66
Whoa, find your core. (laughs) Inhale in again.
67
Exhale, you're gonna straighten your front leg, but keep your front foot on the ground if you can.
68
Breathing in here, feeling that deep stretch in the right quad.
69
If you're not feeling it, lengthen your tailbone down towards the ground just a little bit.
70
Good, inhale in.
71
Exhale, come all the way back into your lunge.
72
We're gonna come to Downward Facing Dog.
73
You're gonna bump the hips to the left and then take your gaze and look towards your left hip.
74
Press into your right palm and then switch to the other side, bump the hips to the right, turn to look towards your right hip and press into your left palm.
75
Great, bring it back to center.
76
Palms press into the earth, curl the toes under and we lift the hips up high and back, Downward Facing Dog.
77
From here we step the right foot up into the lunge, lower the left knee.
78
Gather that connection to your core, inner thighs, squeeze in towards the midline, and we rise up, palms together, Anjuli Mudra.
79
Keep the front knee bent here at first as we lift the chest, find length in the spine, feel that stretch through the psoas here, hip flexor.
80
Nice, and then slow and steady, keep that core connection, you're gonna slowly just lift up through the heart and straighten that front leg.
81
Try to press down through your right big toe mound.
82
Feel this connection to your quad.
83
Turn that left glute on.
84
And just notice if your hips feel like they're in two different planes of space here.
85
Pull the right hip crease back and lengthen the tailbone down to level it out just a bit.
86
Ooh, alright, inhale in.
87
Exhale, come forward.
88
Plant the palms, and we'll come to all fours.
89
From here, you're gonna walk the knees together.
90
Lift the ankles up and you can cross them if you like, or not, just squeeze the arches together.
91
Inhale in, look forward.
92
Exhale, you're gonna bend the elbows halfway, and then press back up, just three of these.
93
Nice and slow with control.
94
Focus on the quality.
95
A little half push-up.
96
Half-half push-up.
97
And last one.
98
Beautiful. On your next inhale, come all the way down to the ground.
99
Press the tops of the feet into the earth.
100
Inhale, reach the fingertips forward.
101
Exhale, send them back.
102
Heart is lifted, shoulders are lifted, gaze is down.
103
Inhale to reach forward.
104
Exhale to send it back.
105
Press into the pubic bone.
106
One more time, inhale to reach forward.
107
Exhale to send it back.
108
Now bring the hands underneath the shoulders.
109
Squeeze the elbows in the side body.
110
Inhale, lift the chest up for Cobra.
111
Exhale, release everything down.
112
Great, from here press back up to all fours.
113
And your choice, you can walk the knees together or keep them wide for Child's Pose.
114
So, Balasana or Extended Child's Pose.
115
Round the shoulders in.
116
Connect back to your intention and the sound of your breath.
117
Inhaling, feeling the expansion of that breath in internally.
118
And exhaling, feeling that ability to soften as well and surrender.
119
Couple more breaths just like that.
120
And then slowly roll it up.
121
And if your knees are not wide here in Extended Child's Pose, go ahead and widen them now.
122
We're gonna bring the palms forward, but with the fingertips facing inward.
123
So kind of like Lion's Pose, but we're coming up onto all fours.
124
Great, and then we're just gonna take it in some gentle circles one way, and then the other.
125
And as you do this move gently and sweetly, don't press or force anything.
126
Reverse the circle if you haven't already.
127
And then we'll release that.
128
Palms come back to the mat, fingertips forward.
129
Walk the knees underneath the hips, curl the toes under, and send the hips up high and back, Downward Facing Dog once again.
130
Inhale in. Lift both heels.
131
Come up onto the tippy-tip toes.
132
Exhale, drop the heels slowly and with control.
133
Almost like you're reaching rather than just dropping and letting gravity do the work.
134
Again, inhale, lift up as high as you can go.
135
Exhale, reach down and back.
136
Inhale, lift up.
137
And exhale, reach down and back.
138
Awesome. Slowly lower the knees, back to the mat.
139
Cross the ankles once again here.
140
And we're gonna slide back through to our cross-legged seat where we began.
141
Take a twist to the left, right hand comes to the left palm.
142
Sit up nice and tall, breathe in.
143
Breathe out.
144
And then a twist to the right.
145
Lengthening through the spine, breathe in deeply.
146
And breathe out.
147
Great, then sit up nice and tall, come back to center.
148
We're gonna end with a little energizing breath pattern.
149
So you're gonna bring your fingertips to your shoulders here, sit up nice and tall.
150
I've said that a million times, but sit up tall.
151
So if you're tired, we tend to collapse, so we can start to use these practices to slowly find that posture that I know we all desire to maintain.
152
Alright, hug the low ribs in for a little support.
153
And for just 20 seconds here, we're gonna start a little movement left to right.
154
Find what feels good, pace-wise, rhythm-wise.
155
And find what feels good with your breath.
156
Maybe it's short and sharp.
157
Maybe it's long and smooth.
158
Probably by now you're in a groove.
159
Keep both sits bones rooted to the mat for five, four, three, whoo.
160
Two, and one.
161
Release the arms, reach all the way up towards the sky.
162
Palms come together and slide down into home base.
163
Anjali Mudra.
164
You can close your eyes here.
165
Just notice how you feel.
166
Thank you so much for sharing your valuable time and energy with me and with this community.
167
I hope you have an amazing rest of your day.
168
Namaste. (upbeat music)
