let's start the interview now tell me a little bit about yourself let's start the interview now
2
tell me a little bit about yourself hi ava i'm so young but you can call me sophia
3
I double majored in English Language and Literature and Business at Hanyang University.
4
To be honest, I'm kind of nervous right now because I'm a bit of an introvert, but I look forward to talking more with you.
5
So let's get started.
6
You indicated in the survey that you like to visit parks.
7
What kind of parks do you go to?
8
You indicated in the survey that you like to visit parks.
9
What kind of parks do you go to?
10
Although there are so many parks in Korea, I usually like to go to the park right next to my house.
11
It's called Lake Park because there is literally this huge lake at the center of the park.
12
The reason I like this park so much is because, well, A, it's so close to where I live, it's like a five -minute walk, so I can go there whenever I feel like it.
13
And B, the scenery is just so beautiful.
14
For example, in the springtime, cherry blossoms bloom all over the park and it's a great place to go out for a family picnic and just relax.
15
Also, the park is not too crowded so I can enjoy the peacefulness.
16
So yeah, these are the reasons I visit this park the most.
17
Describe your normal day at the park.
18
Describe your normal day at the park.
19
well since it's like an everyday activity i don't really do
20
anything special at the park um i usually take a walk
21
with my dog uh you know like it's a great thing to have a park right next to your house
22
when you have a dog and i just like walk around this like huge lake
23
which takes about an hour uh
24
and i sometimes just like ride a bike instead uh it's especially pretty during spring time
25
because of all the cherry blossoms my sister
26
and i always go out to the park to ride our bikes in the spring
27
and while i was like while i walk around the park i usually listen to music
28
and look at the sky which is why sunset time is my favorite
29
because the sky turns pink
30
and it's really pretty spending time at the park is always nice
31
because it helps me get my hair down and just you know relax
32
and I can really take my mind off things tell me
33
about the last time you went to a park what did
34
you do tell me everything in detail tell me about the
35
last time you went to a park what did you do tell me everything in detail
36
so so the last time I went to the park was actually last weekend it was just a normal day.
37
I was walking my dog but then the weather was
38
so nice so I realized that it's such a nice day for a picnic.
39
So I called my mom and the whole family decided to go out to have a picnic at the park.
40
So we took all like of our delicious food like desserts like cake
41
and we ordered pizza even and just having delicious food
42
and chatting with each other it made me feel very calm and happy at the same time.
43
I just remember looking at the water glistening under the sunlight
44
and I don't know it was just like so peaceful you know.
45
So even though nothing really special happened at the park I would say I had a great time
46
and I would definitely like to go to the park with my family again.
47
You indicated in the survey that you like to listen to music.
48
what kind of music do you like who is your favorite artist you indicated in the survey
49
that you like to listen to music what kind of music do you like who is your favorite artist
50
well i like all kinds of music from k -pop to a ballads
51
and hip -hop but
52
if i had to choose one specific genre it would probably be pop i especially like american pop songs
53
because when I was young, I used to only listen to pop songs by famous artists like Justin Bieber, Selena Gomez, Demi Lovato, and I don't know,
54
listening to those songs now, it brings me nostalgia.
55
And I guess I just like the upbeat melody of pop songs, which is why my favorite artist is Ariana Grande.
56
I feel like her songs are not only good, but she also sings so well, like she's top tier uh like
57
when she belts out those high notes it feels like out
58
of this world you know it's like an angel singing almost
59
so yeah i really hope i can see her perform live one day
60
when did you first get interested in music when did you first get interested in music
61
oh wow i cannot specifically remember when i first got interested in music
62
but there is a core memory that comes to mind uh it was
63
when i listened to music through earphones for the first time i was like eight
64
and i borrowed my sister's mp3 player one of my favorite
65
songs back then the climb by miley cyrus was playing i still remember the shock i felt
66
when i put on the earphones the music silenced everything around me
67
and it felt like i was at an actual live concert
68
so i found myself just being totally immersed in the song
69
and i didn't give the mp3 player back to my sister until like she got really mad
70
so i guess it was just a memorable experience
71
because i've never listened to music so loudly before
72
and i still love listening to songs with my airpods
73
and getting the full experience so yeah i would say that was definitely my turning point
74
tell me about a memorable music experience you had when was it
75
and who did you go with tell me about a memorable music experience you had
76
when was it
77
and who did you go with um one of my most
78
favorite oh one of my most memorable music experiences would probably be
79
when i went to the coldplay concert in korea last year i was a huge fan of the band
80
so i got tickets as soon as i heard them they would perform in korea
81
and none of my friends was interested in Coldplay, so I had to go alone, which was honestly a bummer.
82
I was kind of worried that I wouldn't be able to fully enjoy the moment
83
because I didn't have anyone to cheer with me, you know.
84
But when Coldplay began to sing and everyone in the crowd started to sing along,
85
I felt like I was a part of this huge group and I ended up having the time of my life.
86
My favorite part of the concert was when Coldplay sang Viva La Vida.
87
It was the song I was looking forward to the most
88
because I was looking at so many videos on YouTube and the band did not disappoint.
89
I remember singing so loud it felt as
90
if I was like the one performing on stage
91
and overall it was such a magical experience and I wish Coldplay visits Korea again soon.
92
You indicated in the survey that you like to go on international trips.
93
Where did you go?
94
You indicated in the survey that you like to go on international trips.
95
Where did you go?
96
I've been to lots of different countries like Taiwan,
97
Vietnam, even Mexico and I enjoyed all of them but I would pick Japan as one of the best countries I've visited.
98
So many Koreans, including me, we visit Japan often because it's super close to Korea.
99
It's only like a two -hour flight, which is similar to going to Jeju Island.
100
And the food in Japan is just amazing.
101
It has lots of fresh seafood and the ramen there is just fantastic.
102
But for me, the reason I went to Japan so often was because of Universal Studios in Osaka.
103
I was a huge fan of Harry Potter when I was young
104
and Hogwarts at an amusement park was the most magical place for me.
105
So every country has its own charm, but I think Japan definitely is my cup of tea.
106
Tell me about your first trip abroad.
107
Where did you go and what did you do there?
108
Tell me about your first trip abroad.
109
Where did you go and what did you do there?
110
Fun fact, my first trip abroad was actually Japan.
111
It was back
112
when I was in high school i traveled japan with my
113
family i remember being uh super excited even before the trip
114
and like it was my first trip abroad ever
115
so like of course i'm excited right and i've always wanted to travel abroad
116
and it just felt like a dream come true
117
so we went to osaka kyoto and kobe
118
and osaka was definitely my favorite city because it was just so lively
119
and the food was a really good having authentic sushi for the first time was definitely an eye -opener for sure
120
and not to mention universal studios stepping into the harry potter themed area
121
and looking at hogwarts in real life just felt unreal
122
and after this i visited japan again actually a few more times
123
because it was so good and although it was a short trip i really enjoyed the whole experience.
124
Tell me about your most memorable trip.
125
Why was it memorable?
126
Tell me about your most memorable trip.
127
Why was it memorable?
128
What an interesting question.
129
I have so many memorable moments, so let's see.
130
Okay, so there was a time I went to Cancun with my friends back when I was an exchange student.
131
The overall trip was super fun, but what really made the trip memorable was what happened afterwards.
132
So at the last day of the trip, we packed our bags and we headed to the airport early because, well, we didn't want to miss our flights.
133
But then we got a notification saying that our flight has been delayed.
134
It wouldn't really have been a problem then, but the flight kept getting delayed even more and more.
135
So it eventually got delayed to a point where we wouldn't even make it to the connected flights.
136
So basically, you can say like our flight got cancelled.
137
At first, my friends and I, we were panicking and we were all just super frustrated.
138
But then the airline offered us a free stay at an all -inclusive hotel.
139
And since it was all -inclusive, we could enjoy like the buffet, the swimming pool, like all the amenities for free.
140
And I still remember how we all started like laughing like crazy.
141
It was just so funny how we were really annoyed
142
and then suddenly got happy because we got offered this free stay at the hotel.
143
So although the flight was canceled, we ended up having a wonderful night.
144
So, yeah, that was definitely my most memorable trip.
145
And I guess like even in the most unexpected situations, there can be good memories.
146
You started work at a company and you need a new ID card.
147
Ask questions about it.
148
You started work at a company, and you need a new ID card.
149
Ask questions about it.
150
Hi, I'm starting work next Monday, and I was told to call you for a new ID card.
151
I just have a few questions about the card, if you don't mind.
152
Great, okay.
153
So, how long does it usually take to make the ID card?
154
I'm starting next Monday, so I'd like to receive it as soon as possible.
155
oh I see okay um
156
and would I have to go to the office to get my ID card
157
or could it be delivered to my house I mean I
158
don't mind either way I just wanted to check oh you can deliver it
159
that would be even better thanks uh and oh
160
and lastly would there be any uh fee charge for the ID card you know like the delivery fee
161
or anything oh it's free great uh thank you
162
so much okay have a great day something's wrong with your id card explain the situation in detail
163
and suggest ways to fix the card something's wrong with your id card explain the situation in detail
164
and suggest ways to fix the card good morning this is
165
sophia from marketing i just received my new id card
166
and i noticed that my name was spelled wrong on the card uh it's supposed to spelled a ph not f
167
yeah i don't know if this will block total access to the office
168
but i just wanted to fix it just in case
169
so could you make a new id card with the correct spelling
170
or i can just return the one i have right now if that is easier to fix
171
oh okay also while the card is getting fixed uh can i get a guest card
172
so i can enter the building i can visit the office on a weekdays
173
and get the guest card yeah yeah yeah please let me
174
know once the card is fixed okay great i appreciate your help no that'll be all bye share an experience
175
when you had a problem with your ID card share an experience
176
when you had a problem with your ID card oh my
177
god Ava I cannot believe you're asking me this question I
178
actually just lost my ID card last month during my New York trip
179
so I don't know what happened exactly but I lost my wallet
180
while I was sightseeing with my friend I just bought a banana pudding from Magnolia Bakery
181
and I remember pulling out my wallet to pay for it then we walked around
182
and eventually went to this cafe to get like some matcha
183
and as I was reaching for my wallet again I realized it was gone
184
and not gonna lie I totally freaked out I mean who wouldn't right it's a wallet
185
so it was like on the third day of the trip too
186
so basically I lost all financial means in my trip
187
and thankfully my friend covered the rest of the trip
188
and i sent the money back to her
189
and she was totally a lifesaver
190
and luckily i didn't have any cash in the wallet
191
so i was able to just block all my credit cards uh still i was mad at myself for being
192
so clumsy and that's why i lost my id card Yeah, I had to get a new one when I got back to Korea,
193
and it cost me like $3, which was annoying.
194
It's not a good memory, but yeah, that's what happened.
195
Compare two friends or family members.
196
How are they different, and what do they have in common?
197
Compare two friends or family members.
198
How are they different, and what do they have in common?
199
What an interesting question.
200
I've never really thought about it.
201
I'd say my parents are pretty different.
202
My dad, for example, he is very organized.
203
I don't know if you know MBTI, but he's a huge J in capital letters.
204
So he's usually the one who plans all the trips and family events, which is nice.
205
My mom, on the other hand, is quite easygoing.
206
She just goes with the flow and doesn't really complain much.
207
And I personally think they are a great match for this
208
because my dad leads and my mom follows um and
209
while my dad is more logical and uh kind of direct
210
when giving advice my mom is very uh empathetic she's a warm -hearted person
211
so she always listens to my feelings first
212
so yeah both ways have pros and cons i think
213
so i usually just go and talk to them both when i'm having a crisis or something
214
They have things in common too, though, like they're both super extroverted, so whenever we're all gathered around together, it's just so noisy, you know.
215
It does get annoying sometimes, but it's honestly nice to see my parents having fun.
216
So overall, I would say my parents get along well.
217
What do you usually talk about with your friends and family?
218
What do you usually talk about with your friends and family?
219
Well, I'm a huge chatterbox when it comes to friends and family.
220
So we talk about so much stuff, like even the random topics, you know.
221
But if I had to choose one, I would say we talk about getting a job the most these days.
222
I especially chat about this a lot with my friends
223
because we're all in the stage where we're newly graduated
224
and we're looking for jobs and the job market is just
225
so hard these days we all have our own concerns uh
226
since we have different interests it's really fun to hear what
227
my friends are working towards uh for example one of my
228
friends uh she's uh working like as an intern in a fashion industry
229
and she wants to be a fashion designer in the future
230
and another friend uh studied computer science at college
231
and she wants to go to graduate school to get like more skills
232
and work on them a bit more
233
and although we have different career paths like this our main concern is getting a full -time job
234
so it just feels really comforting to talk about my worries with someone who can really relate to what I'm going through.
235
I talk about my career goal with my family as well and they always support me no matter what.
236
I guess because so many companies are hiring these days, this topic is what I think and talk about the most.
