1
Hi, Anton here from 4 Sound.
2
I'm here backstage for the huge festival stage.
3
We have CZ Top in the background and we have Tommy Thayer and we have Eric Singer from KISS with us.
4
How you doing guys?
5
You have KISS in the foreground.
6
See what I did there?
7
You have us in the foreground and ZZ in the background.
8
Actually, we're at Sweden Rock.
9
Tommy?
10
Say hi.
11
Hello.
12
Wow.
13
And we got a lot of the great...
14
Ryan, you're not playing here today?
15
I am.
16
I'm playing with Dennis Deon.
17
Oh.
18
I'm gonna get it on the seat right here.
19
And now you got Ryan.
20
Dennis DeYoung.
21
Dennis Dunaway.
22
Oh, you're playing with him.
23
I didn't know.
24
I didn't know that.
25
That was me.
26
I'm out.
27
Okay.
28
Thank you, Ryan.
29
Thank you, Ryan.
30
I knew he was playing there.
31
I just didn't know what was up.
32
Did you also feel a little bit left out there?
33
I always feel a little left out when I'm around him
34
because he takes up a lot of the air and the oxygen and the words.
35
But I'm standing closer to you.
36
I'm closer to the mic right now.
37
Perfect, perfect.
38
The thing is that you have so little time, because I heard from the guys, like, yeah, they have like a minute or something.
39
Is it always like that with your touring?
40
Sometimes it is, but since Ryan didn't show up, I've been here for two hours looking for Ryan, and he was nowhere to be found, and then all of a sudden Steve goes, Eric, Ryan's here.
41
I finally found him.
42
I'm like, I'm just about to start getting ready with makeup.
43
I said, OK, since Ryan's my old friend, I had to come through.
44
And Tommy had to stop his other interview to accommodate Ryan Roxy.
45
I have a good question, though.
46
I mean, do you have developed kind of like a fear of fireworks and pyro?
47
Because you've been touring quite a lot now with Kiss lately.
48
I mean, how many gigs have you played with KISS?
49
Do you even know?
50
I probably played somewhere between 500 to 1,000, probably.
51
But this tour, the end of the road world tour that we're doing, we just did 45 shows in North America, over half a million fans.
52
Most of all of them were sold out, and including Madison Square Garden was actually sold out.
53
That's awesome.
54
But it's been a great tour, and we've just been having a great time.
55
But the pyro show is over the top.
56
And of course, during the winter months in North America, everybody's getting cold, not only in the band, but the crew too.
57
So with that pyro dust in the air, it really can aggravate the bronchial.
58
And also when it's cold, a little bit nippy.
59
You asked about the fireworks show.
60
You get scared about it.
61
So the only one that has to be scared is me, because I'm the one that gets the fireworks.
62
Some of these shows have been very close to me, and they're like, whoa.
63
And then Tommy decided to do some new thing with his Rocket guitar, which you'll see later.
64
And they had to change it because the first night, I swear to God, I had to duck.
65
Tommy turns around and goes, and I'm like, whoa.
66
I literally went like that because it blinded me, and it was so close.
67
And they're like, yeah, I think we need to adjust that.
68
I did that on purpose.
69
They did.
70
All the guitar players in the world.
71
Well, wait a minute.
72
They made him a new flying V for shooting the guitar because they wanted something to look different
73
than the traditional Les Paul that he plays.
74
So I don't know what happened, but that first show, Tommy goes from side to side and Alston, hold on, he goes to shoot me and it's,
75
hold on, it didn't shoot that way, it shot me.
76
I swear to God, boom, I'm like, holy shit.
77
Here's the greatest story though.
78
Back a few years back, one of our effects was Eric would do a drum solo
79
and actually we did a solo together where I shoot a rocket
80
and then he had this kind of a torpedo thing, right?
81
It was a bazooka.
82
A bazooka.
83
So one night Eric, he gets that bazooka up there, boom!
84
And it goes off backwards.
85
He had the bazooka turn around the wrong way and almost shot himself.
86
The other thing is, for some reason, can you hold that for me?
87
So I went to, the drum tech would hand me the bazooka every night
88
and he handed it to me in a certain way
89
so knowing that I grab it and go like this and I'd be standing on my drums on top of the drums.
90
For some reason, I don't know why, I turned around and grabbed it and turned it around backwards
91
and he's pulling on my leg going no no I'm like
92
I'm like this like get out of here mind your own business.
93
I go like this boom and it's shot backwards
94
and it hit he knew it was coming so he moved out of away.
95
That's a good one.
96
But you said the last tour, but the question is, is it really the last tour?
97
As far as I'm concerned, it is.
98
Really?
99
Oh, yeah.
100
This is the Eric Singer farewell.
101
No, no. I mean, for me, when they say, okay, we're done after two or three years, whatever it is, then to me, that's when it's done.
102
Because Judas Priest, I think, has had like five farewell tours or something.
103
I mean there might be Tommy Thayer's kiss but you know.
104
Guys, 2021 Tommy will be holding auditions for Tommy Thayer's kiss.
105
Good luck with that Tommy.
106
Thank you.
107
We'll see you all in 21-22.
108
We'll see you back.
109
TT's kiss will be back here in 2022 for Sweden Rock.
110
Thank you.
