1
Hi, I'm Jessica Beck from All Ears English and the amazing IELTS podcast, best one out called IELTS Energy.
2
Today I'm going to tell you a very easy way to increase your scores on the speaking
3
and writing parts of the IELTS exam.
4
A lot of students do not do this and that is why
5
if you show the examiner your ability to use these extra vocabulary words you really set yourself apart from other students.
6
So So what I'm talking about is using adverbs to modify,
7
to describe, to add extra emphasis to your adjectives.
8
So for example, if the examiner says, tell me about the apartment you live in, then most students would say like,
9
I have a nice apartment and that's fine.
10
Like that's a normal like band score six, you know, type sentence.
11
It's easy, nothing special.
12
But if you want to get a seven or higher on your vocabulary scores on speaking and writing,
13
you have to show the examiner something more.
14
You have to impress them with the fact that you do not say the same things as every other student.
15
So, for example, instead of saying, I have a nice car, you could say, I have a super nice car.
16
Okay?
17
This is the point, guys, where you should grab a pen and paper because you should be writing down all of these words,
18
phrases, and examples and then after you watch this video you should try and use them in your own answer.
19
Okay?
20
So again, this adverb is super.
21
It's very, it's informal, so don't use it in writing, only in speaking, but it's a very native speaker type thing to say, alright?
22
So for example, I have a super nice house.
23
I have a super, super fast computer.
24
I have a super new phone.
25
All of those things are something that native speakers might say.
26
All right, so some other ideas for adverbs.
27
I'm just checking my notes here.
28
Some other ideas for adverbs are, these These are phrases you can add at the end to emphasize.
29
You can say, I have a super new phone, indeed.
30
Or I have a super nice house, for sure.
31
Or my English is super awesome, for real.
32
So we have for sure, indeed, and for real.
33
Something that's a little more formal, okay?
34
So these are words that you could use in speaking part three and writing task two.
35
Okay?
36
I'm going to give you a list of adverbs now.
37
So write these down.
38
You could say considerably, significantly, certainly, and then one of my favorites, indeed.
39
So how can we use those?
40
You could say that these advantages are considerably large.
41
Using an extra adverb to modify that adjective, that's already modifying the noun.
42
I mean there are so many levels here of vocabulary to get you high scores.
43
It's taking this very simple idea
44
and adding all of these emphasizing words to show the examiner that you deserve a seven or higher.
45
So these advantages are considerably large.
46
Significantly large.
47
Totally, totally is informal and formal.
48
So you could say, I have a totally big house, or this disadvantage is significantly noticeable.
49
Okay, all of these examples are what would get you a seven or higher on the exam.
50
All right, so how do we use indeed?
51
Indeed can go at the beginning or the end of the sentence, okay?
52
With a comma, so you could say, indeed, the considerably large benefits are noticeable.
53
That's a great sentence.
54
Or, the considerably large benefits are noticeable, comma, indeed.
55
Okay, it's these small vocabulary touches that set you apart from other students
56
and makes the examiner consider a seven or higher for vocabulary.

आप "Use Adverbs to Increase your IELTS Writing and Speaking scores!"
