Today I'm flying to Milan, Italy, but not just once, twice, with a stop in New York City in the middle.
2
You might be wondering what on earth am I talking about?
3
Well, I'm going on one of Emirates' multi-sector trips.
4
These trips are the longest you can get as Emirates cabin crew with some lasting six days.
5
But this one is only four with a 24 hour layover in Milan, 24 hours in New York and another 24 hours in Milan before heading back home to Dubai.
6
Stuck on your view and your clarity I've been waiting a long time Now,
7
as beautiful as this hotel room is, I'm actually not staying in it
8
because I have planned what might be my craziest layover idea
9
yet by booking an Airbnb for the night at the famous Lake Como, which is only an hour and a half drive away from the airport.
10
Before I say goodbye to the hotel though, I really wanted to check out the crew room.
11
They have specifically for us air crew.
12
Not every hotel actually has this, but this has to be the biggest one I've ever seen.
13
If I didn't have all these plans, I would be going to get so much Italian groceries and cooking up an absolute storm in these kitchens.
14
But what I will do, because I did pack a lot of my food for the whole trip, including on the flights, I'm actually going to leave a fair bit of it here.
15
And thankfully, they have this huge fridge, so I'll pick it back up before wake up call tomorrow.
16
Now, seeing as I
17
am going a little far away from the airport, I would have been silly not to hire a car because I want to make sure I am on my own time, not relying on anyone else or any public transport.
18
I'm actually hiring a car through an Italian-based car hire company called Nologiare, which I'd normally just go through those big brand websites
19
but they had some sick last minute deals so it just made sense to go with them.
20
Also my advice for anyone wanting to hire a car in Italy, the smaller the better and you'll see why when we get to those local Italian streets.
21
I'm so excited, I'm here in Milan, Italy and I am going to drive up to Lake Como and explore and show you what I get up to.
22
I don't know about you, but when I saw these huge mountains in the distance, I genuinely was shaking from excitement.
23
It might be hard to believe, but this is my first time ever in Italy.
24
And it was truly living up to its magical hype.
25
Now I was still trying to get to my accommodation before sunset
26
but this park with this insane view was way too beautiful not to pull over and take a better look.
27
As much as hotels are easy,
28
especially with 24-hour check-in desks, I'm really finding Airbnbs to be just as good, if not better.
29
The fact you have the ability to stay in these little hidden gems
30
that are often in locations hotels aren't is so cool.
31
I mean, just look at this view.
32
I'd love to know, are you team Airbnb or hotels?
33
Or do you just book whatever is the best price?
34
The other thing that I love about Airbnbs are they're often set up like a home.
35
And look, maybe some of you might think Airbnbs like this are corny or dated, but I love and appreciate how much effort
36
and detail people put into them even looking at these prints which are taken right here.
37
And let's not talk about all the games, which really makes me wish Zach was here,
38
but I'll appreciate these things so much when we are traveling full time together.
39
Also, let's just take a moment for the amount of effort
40
they've put in just for this information about Lake Como on the kitchen table.
41
Committal to sea trauma in everything Oh, it's not so bad, you just make it like that
42
So I'm at my Airbnb and it is so beautiful I've just spent the whole last half an hour, hour Taking as many photos as I can before the sun goes down
43
Because it was tight trying to get up here in time
44
But I just want to give you a little look At what my view is Honestly, like, amazing.
45
I'm so stoked that I'm here.
46
It's moments like this where I'm so glad I packed my own food, as there aren't many options for me around restaurant-wise, plus I have a pretty tight schedule tomorrow,
47
as I plan to drive the entire way around the south side of Lake Como from where I am.
48
So up to Bellagio, down to Como City, and then back to return my car hire all before 2pm tomorrow.
49
Now, maybe a pullout sofa bed isn't everyone's first preference to sleep on, but I'm going to tell you my trick to how I get a good night's sleep no matter where I am.
50
And that's thanks to Manta Sleep, who is actually the sponsor of my video today so many different options to choose from, you'll realize very quickly why their quality,
51
comfort, and adjustability is the reason I stay so well rested everywhere I travel.
52
I have two of their sleep masks with me right now.
53
One of them being their silk mask, which is actually my peace of mind to know my hair
54
and skin is being looked after no matter where I rest my head.
55
I also have their sound mask, which is definitely one of my favorites purely because it has built-in headphones, meaning I don't have to worry about my headphones digging into me when I'm trying to sleep,
56
or worst of all waking up and not knowing where my headphones are.
57
But by far the best thing about Man to Sleep is actually their C-shaped eye cups.
58
These make it 100% black out and there's no pressure on your eyes or lashes and they're specifically built for side sleepers.
59
Go check out all the options on the Man to Sleep website and with the holiday season approaching, don't miss out on their Black Friday or Cyber Monday sales
60
so you can get that perfect gift for your loved ones or just spoil yourself.
61
The link is in my description below and don't forget to use my code AMANDATEN to get 10% off your order.
62
But now that you know how I stay so well rested, let's go see where I choose to spend my first ever Italian sunrise.
63
Now, although I just pulled over, that was purely because the view while I was driving was insane, and I really wanted to soak it up.
64
But my first stop was actually at the famous waterfront right near the ferry station.
65
So being out this early means that I can set up my tripod
66
and not have too many people looking at me like I'm an absolute weirdo.
67
Because I really did want to get some nice photos for Instagram or even some videos to make a reel from.
68
But who wouldn't?
69
I mean, come on, look at this spot.
70
Now, funny story, but this was actually the last time I saw my gold hair claw I'm wearing.
71
I really prefer to have my hair out in photos.
72
So clever me took my hair out
73
and left my hair claw beside my tripod and forgot to take it with me when I left.
74
And yes, I did go back for it, but sadly it wasn't there.
75
So shout out to whoever has my gold hair claw.
76
I hope you're loving it as much as I did.
77
But we live and we learn
78
and I really didn't have time to be sad about it today because I had so much I wanted to see.
79
With the next stop being only a five minute drive to kind of the top point of Bellagio,
80
I had actually found this spot by purely looking on Google Maps and seeing this rock wall, which I think you can all agree with me, did not disappoint.
81
I spent a little bit of time here getting some cool videos
82
and just watching all the life begin to unfold in this incredible spot in the world.
83
I really felt like I was soaking up that moment of realizing I'm in Italy.
84
Now, the parking in Bellagio is quite tricky, but I managed to find a space back near the ferry station, which is exactly where I want to be,
85
as I'm heading in to find the famous street called Salita Ceboloni.
86
I knew
87
straight away I was in the right spot because it was already so busy, which was a little unfortunate for me as it was really hard to set up a tripod
88
and find a gap when others weren't taking a photo.
89
Oddly in this moment it felt like my tripod was invisible to everyone.
90
Basically I just had to go with the classic of asking a stranger to take a video of me.
91
So I just got some pictures at the famous street that everyone goes to and it's so busy
92
and it's still early early morning kia
93
these streets look exactly like what i expected italy to look like
94
and of course
95
when you're seeing it in person it almost feels like a dream all these little side streets
96
and hidden restaurants and then to have the cafes set up by the water.
97
Honestly, all we're missing here is someone busking out the front with those traditional Italian songs.
98
Now it was getting a little bit on with the time, so I needed to hightail it out of here.
99
And of course, in saying that, I mean drive very carefully.
100
Because what you're looking at is two-way roads are the streets
101
I was telling you is the reason you need a small car.
102
Oh, and top tip, always get the full insurance!
103
Cause even though nothing happened on my trip, in this moment I was so grateful cause I needed to focus on driving,
104
not just freaking out about how much I'd owe if my mirror or something scrapes a wall.
105
Now don't even get me started on the parking, but luckily I really didn't have much time to spare anyway,
106
so I just had a quick look at this super cool park on the water's edge.
107
Of course I wish I could have spent more time here, and I feel like sometimes I get FOMO on what I could be doing in all these really cool places,
108
but I guess that's the beauty of having only 24 hours, you just gotta make the most with what you can.
109
I strategically did my makeup this morning, so all I had to do at the hotel was chuck on the red lipstick,
110
get changed and pick up my bags legs.
111
As you can imagine, I was pretty exhausted, so I was straight to bed, but I still managed to get up somewhat early to make some time to exercise.
112
As exciting as the Big Apple is, it's actually not my main priority for this trip.
113
I'm leaving the big days to Milan because remember, I still have one more 24 hour layover in Italy on the way back.
114
Take you on a ride Love a feel to hide We can start again
115
If it wasn't for the Crew Hotel being right in Manhattan, I probably wouldn't have gone out.
116
But I did have a New York Pizza place saved on my Google Maps I wanted to check out, as it has its own vegan menu.
117
So what I was thinking is I'm going to have two of the most famous pizzas in the world,
118
back to back and in their countries of origin, starting with a New York pizza right here and then a traditional Italian pizza in Milan tomorrow.
119
Stick around to see which one I rate better.
120
I really didn't do much for the rest of the layover
121
because I wanted to make sure I had enough sleep for the seven and a half hour flight back to Milan.
122
Take a trip around your body.
123
Boy, you love the way you got me.
124
I'm sorry, I ain't got me.
125
Sorry, I ain't losing all my focus.
126
It was actually so nice knowing I get to stay in this hotel this time. But
127
that wasn't stopping me from going out to find a spot
128
for dinner as I pretty much only had food left for the flight home tomorrow.
129
So my idea was not to go into Milan City as I'm planning to go in tomorrow morning
130
but actually find somewhere much closer so maybe within a stop
131
or two on the train
132
so i thought i would go for a little dinner at
133
this fully vegan restaurant that's only one train stop away from the hotel
134
and that and the ticket cost me eight 50 euros
135
when it cost 10 euros to go into milan
136
which is like an hour train this is 10 minutes but
137
because i didn't go up to the guy
138
which i didn't know is what you had to do i
139
asked the lady she said get by on board yeah i didn't go up sick high
140
So now I got charged more
141
so hopefully on the way back I actually go to the ticket booth
142
and figure out how to buy a ticket before the train, right?
143
But yeah, I'm about to go check out this fully weekend restaurant I'm super excited
144
because it's Italian style and hopefully it's really good again
145
So it was a complete fail
146
The restaurant I went to I was worried they were going to be closed
147
but turns out they only do lunch and takeaway
148
and like the takeaway options were like very minimal I'll show you it was just a little piece of lasagna, but to be fair It was really really good
149
and I do want to try some you know traditional Italian dishes
150
while I'm here But I'm on the mission to find somewhere else
151
that might have something vegan because I already paid a 50 euro to get here,
152
so I'm gonna make the most of it and See how I can go Now you're probably gonna laugh at me,
153
but I have a weird obsession with checking fast food menus when I'm traveling.
154
One, I'd just like to see what they have compared to Australia, and two, to see if they have any cool vegan options.
155
Sadly, nothing for me, but these Italian specials were pretty cool.
156
I'll be honest, even before going vegan, I was more of a New York style pizza lover.
157
And having these two styles of pizzas back to back, I can confirm I still feel the same way.
158
It's just something about that thin base and the New York flavors that I really love.
159
Big apology to all my Italian friends watching, but I'd love to know, are you team New York or Italian pizzas?
160
so I'm just finishing up walking around this little town
161
that I got the train to that cost me so much
162
but I ended up finding a pizza place
163
and it was kind of cool
164
and they had their own like all they didn't have their own
165
but they had this uh vegan almond mozzarella like traditional kind of style
166
and she showed me where it's from it's like an Italian based uh you know plant-based thing
167
and it's really cool and I really loved it
168
and I don't know even though it cost me a little to get in here it was really fun
169
and this little like area walking around like a random little town in italy
170
and we're outside of mxp it's really cool
171
so i'm glad i did it even though i'm gonna be super tired but yeah i'm back at the hotel now
172
So I've had quite a morning.
173
I don't know what is with me and the train system here, but it's just not working out.
174
But I caught the wrong train.
175
I went to Central Station instead of into the city, but it worked out fine.
176
I just caught the metro and I am now currently at the Piazza, which is really, really cool.
177
I'm about to head to the Galleria because I want to take some really cool video thing.
178
My friend told me you have to spin on the Bulls balls three times and it's good luck.
179
But I'm going to see how many people there
180
and then I'm going to have the rest of the morning to wander around.
181
I have to be back at the airport by 11 and then I'm home.
182
So I'm excited.
183
I can't wait to show you guys what I get to.
184
I was genuinely obsessed with this square.
185
My Italian friend said it is a must and I can see why.
186
Even being at sunrise, it was already so busy.
187
And I mean, someone was having a wedding shoot.
188
The Italian architecture is literally a piece of art.
189
Every building I look at makes me speechless.
190
I think coming from Australia, we just don't have this old buildings with such insane details.
191
Like this cathedral started being built in the 1300s.
192
I'm pretty sure the oldest building in Australia is this farmhouse built in the 18th century. So I
193
just took some photos in the Galleria and I did get told off by having my little selfie stick.
194
I usually have a tripod, but I found this one yesterday because I was like, Man, I'm sick of carrying this huge tripod around.
195
So I got this little stick one that everyone has.
196
And it's way, way, way better to carry with me.
197
And it has a little clicker.
198
But anyway, it wasn't allowed in the gallery.
199
I don't know why.
200
But if I'd had my tripod, man, they would have been like, what the hell?
201
But I'm so glad I had it.
202
But yeah, I'm about to head to Starbucks Reserve.
203
Because if you didn't know, I love Starbucks.
204
And especially the reserve places.
205
There's only five of them in the world.
206
And I've been to four of them, I think.
207
Or three at least now.
208
I think I've mentioned this before, but I'll say it again.
209
I don't know what it is about the Starbucks Reserve Roasteries.
210
They just have this enchanting feeling inside.
211
They're so grand and you get to see the whole process of the coffee beans.
212
I'm honestly not a crazy coffee connoisseur, but I really enjoy this little mission I have to tick off all the Starbucks Reserve Roasteries around the world.
213
Now I want to say five euros for a coffee is pretty steep
214
but nowadays I feel like everywhere I get a coffee from is roughly that price.
215
Okay I made it
216
on the train and I'm coming to get tired to get me back
217
but I'll be back There's plenty of time to pick up, but just a little bit past the wake-up call.
218
So I'm not sure if they're going to send someone to my room to check if I'm there.
219
But anyway, I've got my hair going to be done on the train.
220
So I'm not really worried.
221
And my makeup's done.
222
So I'm ready.
223
So I literally just got to get back to the hotel room, get changed, pack my bag, and head downstairs.
224
So I'm excited.
225
And I'm looking forward to the flight.
226
So I should pretty good.
227
And then I'm off to see Zach.
228
Just like
229
that, it's time to say goodbye to Italy.
230
And what a jam-packed trip it's been.
231
I'd love to know, do you think I made the most out of my time here?
232
Or would you have done it differently?
233
Either way, thank you so much for watching, it means the absolute world to me and I'll be seeing you again very soon.

  • "On my own time": A mio tempo, senza dipendere da altri. Esempio: "Noleggiare un'auto mi permette di essere on my own time".
  • "Hidden gems": Piccoli tesori nascosti. Esempio: "Gli Airbnb spesso sono hidden gems in posizioni uniche".
  • "Tight schedule": Orario strettissimo.

Focus su espressioni come "I'm so stoked that I'm here" o "It was truly living up to its magical hype": notare come le parole si connettono e come la voce si alza o scende.
