New city, new story.
2
Same family, new dreams.
3
Life looks better when you wander with the Kings.
4
All right.
5
I don't know if they're ready for this.
6
we just had our second baby we're moving to vietnam
7
all right
8
so guys first of all this is your first time seeing
9
the channel welcome um this is wander with the kings sean amanda this is kalia kalia
10
and our son keanu who is currently at daycare hanging out with his friends.
11
So we travel a lot.
12
We've always traveled a lot.
13
And we've done a lot of cool things with our lives.
14
And the next chapter of our story is packing up our family of four,
15
moving 9 ,000 miles from where we currently live in Middleton,
16
Florida, and landing in beautiful Vietnam so we've got depending exactly
17
when we leave T minus six six and a half months from the time
18
that I'm making this video so this could come out in a month from now
19
but the timeline is going fast it will go even faster now
20
that we have a little baby a second child to keep
21
alive yes the groundhog day has a different ending yeah same thing over
22
and over but now it's with a plus one
23
and yeah time will fly
24
so we wanted to bring you guys along on this journey with us
25
because we love watching YouTube videos of Vietnam of all these places all around the world
26
and one of our favorite things is watching people move become expats and
27
so it's been a dream of ours for quite some time
28
we have previously lived out of the country in mexico we'll talk just a little bit about
29
that but we want to talk to you about why we're leaving the u .s
30
and why we're moving to vietnam
31
so there will be a ton of videos in this series
32
going out we're going to cover literally everything we possibly can
33
from you know our current situation to the move to vietnam
34
why we're doing it um the expenses related to it yeah the visas the why we chose vietnam the steps
35
that you need to take what we're doing with our stuff literally everything um
36
so whether you are an individual an older person looking to retire
37
or move with a spouse or your family like us
38
and you're looking for something different
39
that you feel like the u .s maybe can't provide you
40
right now this will be a great series for you yeah
41
so we've got some notes here and some topics that we want to discuss
42
and let's just dive in so first things first why the hell are we moving to vietnam why
43
in the grand scheme of things what are we trying to accomplish with this move i think
44
that the first thing is family time for sure yeah
45
so we both work full -time obviously i'm on maternity leave right now she is almost three weeks old um
46
but just just a big thing these younger years of our children's lives are so crucial
47
and we hate sending you know our oldest one to daycare
48
i don't want to send her to daycare um we want to be more more present with each other
49
and more present with our children especially before you know they start their own activities
50
and things like that just really cherish these times that we have.
51
Yeah because as I'm sure you parents know whether you have kids currently in the house
52
or they're out of the house that time goes by really really fast
53
and it seems like in a lot of other countries family
54
even though we say family is very important here in a
55
lot of other countries they seem to put more value into the time
56
that they spend with their family and less value in the time
57
that they spend doing work and it's tough you know things are expensive here
58
and everything and it you just you're trying to keep up with everything going on
59
and so we just feel like if we change some things in our life
60
and move halfway around the world for many reasons again
61
that we'll be able to focus a lot more on family
62
and a lot less on not like we worry about keeping
63
up with the Joneses we live a pretty simple life again
64
we'll kind of show you our situation at some point one of these videos
65
but yeah we just want more focus on the kids especially in these early years
66
because I forget the statistic but very quickly
67
they will be out of the house and we will spend hopefully still a good amount of time with them, but not nearly as the amount of time that we currently spend with them.
68
So I want to cherish those moments while we still can.
69
And it's just, in our mind, it's easier to do that in Vietnam.
70
I would say the second reason, and again, these are in no specific order,
71
but more enjoyable lifestyle, like our dollar stretches further.
72
So you guys who live in the U .S know that it seems like our dollar has been stretching less and less.
73
It's been getting us less and less as time goes on.
74
I'm in the financial space, so I understand the idea of devaluing the dollar and it's losing its buying power, which is unfortunate.
75
But it's not losing its buying power a lot of other places yeah
76
and we we travel to so many other countries
77
and we're just like no we can do all these other things
78
when we go to these other places
79
but as soon as we're home it's like all we do is work yeah
80
and some of you know whether it's eating more
81
or the things i really like to eat i'm six four
82
like 225 pounds i didn't get this big from not eating
83
i really enjoy eating we'll talk about food here in a second
84
but like just little things
85
that we don't want to have to worry about like i don't get my hair cut here
86
because it's like 50 before tip amanda goes and does her nails
87
or wax appointments or little things like you know whatever it may be it's just
88
taking the taking keanu to a play place here you gotta
89
be like 25 dollars to go to a play place
90
and just like what the what are we talking about here
91
and so in a lot of other countries
92
but again specifically vietnam is what we're talking about
93
because that's where we're going the cost to do things to
94
pamper yourself to you know get the haircuts get the massages
95
whatever it may be take the kids to the play places go
96
and do the fun things go out to eat go out
97
to eat are literally a fraction of the price yeah
98
when we were just last in vietnam amanda
99
and i did our little parents day and we went
100
and got she got a foot massage and i got a hair washing
101
which turned into essentially a shoulder head massage and it was fantastic
102
and i think it cost us ten dollars for the both of us
103
and that was probably a little on the pricier side yeah
104
that was like right off kind of one of the main streets
105
but again we just want to be able to take better
106
care of ourselves we want to eat better food we want to do a lot of these things
107
that we feel like are going to enhance our lives um
108
and you know i i'll wait for the food portion to talk about cooking
109
and everything like that but yeah i think that's a big thing
110
or just our dollar is going to stretch further
111
which will allow us to do more we don't particularly want to spend less like we will
112
spend less because yeah by default
113
but the goal isn't like hey we're just going over there
114
because it's cheap
115
and we want to spend as little money as possible yeah
116
we're not trying to live on a thousand bucks a month like this is not
117
that yeah well you know we have set a budget for ourself
118
which we'll talk about budget at some point
119
but we've kind of set a budget for ourself
120
and our family of four of three thousand dollars again we'll kind of break
121
that all down at some point in another video
122
but yeah we can do a lot with it that's a big deal
123
so do you want to talk about slower pace of life
124
uh yeah just i think with the financial flexibility i mean
125
there's a couple different things going on especially going on the other half of the world
126
so the work hours are obviously going to be very different
127
so it's not going to be taking up all of our
128
waking hours it's going to be very early in the morning probably for sean most of the time
129
while we're still sleeping which he does
130
that anyways right now yeah i already wake up at 3
131
34 o 'clock to go to the gym every day
132
so yeah and we'll be able to go to the gym together again yes
133
which that was a big thing in our past pre -parent life
134
that we really enjoy doing
135
and I've been trying to figure out the dynamic it doesn't work anymore yeah not the same
136
but yeah so just
137
that slower pace of life like one of the things with
138
the money is like hey we don't have to do as much to cover what we need
139
so we can focus more on the things
140
that we want to do again enjoy the family time creating these memories uh
141
and just kind of relax like it's like having a pension income
142
or an annuity or social security when you're in this retirement age
143
and you're like my burn rate my nut is covered every month
144
if my bills are three thousand four thousand dollars whatever they may be wherever you're at
145
and all of that's covered by guaranteed income you are far less worried about what the market
146
and everything else is doing or busting your ass to make more money
147
because you're like i'm good i'm good
148
if i do more i'll have a little bit more but
149
if i'm good with where i'm at then i'm good and
150
so we've done some things financially again we'll get into our financials
151
and stuff as this rolls on and how we prepared
152
and what we're going to be taking over there and everything and what we're doing for money but
153
That slower pace of life was something that we were really focused on making happen, especially for me.
154
Yeah, you have crazy work.
155
Yeah.
156
Just trying to take care of the family, man, you know?
157
Your brain just doesn't turn off.
158
Yeah.
159
If you know how that goes, you know how that goes.
160
So we'll see how it goes when I get there.
161
I actually don't know.
162
It's often focused on making money and taking care of the family.
163
Normal man shit.
164
Yeah.
165
So next up, cost of living.
166
Yes, cost of living uh we kind of touched on it just briefly
167
but by default it will be less expensive obviously than what we're spending now
168
and the ability to do more
169
so that's kind of the overall objective there yeah um we have calculated what we need for out there
170
which we are budgeting about 3 000 and then plus our expenses here
171
that you know we'll get into but just having the flexibility
172
to not have to work all the time yeah yeah again
173
it's it's crazy the whole thing here again is keeping up
174
with the joneses it's like i gotta make more i gotta make more
175
and it's really hard to give yourself an out um like
176
again we've always been fairly minimalistic we have one car we share a house again all stuff
177
that we'll kind of talk about later but But, yeah, it's just we just want those dollars to stretch further.
178
We want to get more value for our dollars.
179
Again, it's not like I particularly want to spend that many less dollars.
180
I just want to get more value for what I'm doing, whether that's groceries, whether that's experiences.
181
Have you guys fucking tried flying someplace in the U .S.?
182
I'm not talking about during these oil prices.
183
Obviously, everybody knows that's been crazy with the war and everything that happened or happening, if it's still going on while you're watching this.
184
But just in general, flying around the U .S is so expensive.
185
So going and visiting these other states, cool, great.
186
Yeah, like write home and tell your friends about, I went from Nebraska to Iowa to check it out.
187
And, you know, great experience.
188
Awesome.
189
Not a knock on Nebraska or Iowa.
190
But when you're in Vietnam or Southeast Asia or Europe,
191
your ability to get places for a substantially cheaper amount of money is way, way more available.
192
so you can just create more of these experiences for less
193
so cost of living is a big deal we'll break down
194
what our cost of living is here we'll break down what
195
our cost of living is out there what we project it to be
196
and then what it's actually going to be
197
when we get out there to give you guys real numbers on a family um for all the things
198
that you want to know about because those are the things
199
that we want to know about yeah all right the culture
200
i want to talk a little bit about the culture
201
because i think this one is kind of unique yeah just well we just love asian culture to begin with
202
but um southeast asia just has kind of its own vibe about it
203
and it's something
204
that we really connect to yeah um we've can we've been there separately before we were dating
205
and then obviously we've been multiple times together and it's just something that we always go back.
206
We're married now.
207
Yeah, obviously.
208
We've been married for a while.
209
Not obviously. Who knows?
210
It's true.
211
We are married.
212
Yeah, we've been together for what, almost nine years now?
213
Yep.
214
Coming up on nine years.
215
But yeah, so just Asian culture in general, it's very family focused.
216
It's big on respect and just about being a good person
217
and just respecting the nature and animals and things like that
218
so that's that's just the type of environment
219
that we want to be in
220
and also raise our kids in like she said very family focused like
221
when we went out there at the multiple times we've been out to different countries in southeast asia
222
and we've had kianu with us people whether they're like more buttoned up countries that we've been to like japan and
223
And Taiwan, even people there are still like, oh, my gosh, super cute, baby.
224
Like, let me hold your kid.
225
Let me do this.
226
Let me do that.
227
Yeah, and I think just accessibility for things for kids, too.
228
So you brought up Taiwan, so it made me think about this.
229
We went to the zoo, and there were little mini toilets everywhere in the bathrooms.
230
Like, you would never find that here in the States.
231
And the ticket was, like, $3.
232
You know how much is it to go to the zoo here?
233
It's not $3.
234
I think it was $6 for all of us to get in.
235
Yeah.
236
Besides the point.
237
Yeah.
238
Um, so yeah, just, we love Asian culture in general, the people, the belief system, just the vibe and the feel.
239
And I think that kind of leads into, uh, the safety of it.
240
Safety is, safety has always been a big one.
241
Not so much for me.
242
Again, when you're as big as I am, when you're covered in tattoos, when you have a beard, people assume that you might,
243
you know, you might try something but I'm extremely
244
nice and non -confrontational person
245
but women i know it's a big deal for elder people
246
i know it's a big deal for obviously we have kids it's a huge deal
247
when you have kids everything's like is everything trying to kill my kid is
248
that bird trying to kill my fucking kid i don't know
249
but now you gotta worry about the schools yeah i'm not
250
gonna go there yeah don't don't touch me on the school
251
situation out here in the u .s whether it's the shootings
252
or the lack of education either way um it's all a
253
problem uh just in general the safety is is a big deal
254
and we've never felt safer in our lives than we're
255
when we're in countries in southeast asia and i don't want
256
that to be like uh a shot at anybody in
257
that culture out in southeast asia
258
that is a compliment to say whatever you guys are doing the energy
259
that you put off is very welcoming um especially like we love all the cultures out there.
260
Thailand's known to be really friendly.
261
There's just something different with Vietnam that you're like, man, those people, they're just like, they're just such warm and welcoming people.
262
So I love that.
263
Last thing, geographical location.
264
Um, I would say it's well, where Vietnam is very centrally located in Asia in itself.
265
And I think it's just a really good spot to be to go visit all of these other places
266
that we love going
267
and we love Japan we now love Taiwan yeah we're loving China the more
268
that we learn about it just like more explore more places in the Indonesia
269
and Philippines and within the country in Vietnam yeah there's
270
so many cool things to see
271
so again the affordability we are specifically looking at Da Nang and we'll talk about more of that here in a second,
272
but just flights from Da Nang to Ho Chi Minh, Da Nang to Hanoi, like you're talking about pennies on the dollars.
273
30, 50 bucks round trip.
274
Yeah.
275
For me, even flying to Orlando or Miami or something over here in Florida, that could easily end up getting to a couple hundred dollars,
276
you know, depending where I'm going.
277
If I'm super lucky, I can get a flight for a hundred dollars.
278
If I'm super lucky and I'm going at a very specific time.
279
For a one hour flight yeah that's like the best case scenario uh that doesn't happen in many places
280
so do you want to kind of transition and talk about when we realized america
281
maybe wasn't for us in terms of continuing to raise our family
282
because this wasn't something that was just like you know flip a switch
283
and we're and we're moving now like we had thought about it we had done a lot of traveling and whatnot
284
so you kind of want to talk a little bit about um just the thought process yeah the timeline
285
so when international moving became like a real plan of course or even a thought so we started dating in arizona um
286
i had we started dating on a trip yeah we were
287
living in arizona surprisingly lived 10 minutes from each other and
288
that we later found out um it worked out just beautifully yes um
289
so we were living in arizona when covet happened
290
but in the start of our relationship sean took time off to go travel southeast asia
291
and it was like i didn't take time off from a
292
relationship no no he took time from the united states
293
while we were together already playing i'm like hey i really like you
294
but I have this like six month tour through Asia yeah you
295
and your best friend me yeah me
296
and my best friend are you okay with it
297
and she's like sure I'll come out there
298
and see you yeah I'll come out there and see you
299
and we'll see how this goes we'll see how dedicated you
300
really are yeah I mean it's hard it's a lot to ask of somebody yeah
301
so attractive yeah my my previous history wouldn't have provided a ton of confidence
302
but I was looking to grow up as well
303
so find a person that's already grown and you know doing her own thing
304
which is great so anyways carry on um yes
305
so in the there was kind of like two things so he had that trip plan
306
already when we first started dating
307
and i in my head um was like i am
308
so over being in arizona i really want to move back to the pacific northwest
309
which is where i had graduated high school
310
but we both grew up in Arizona
311
so it's kind of like you were already traveling I had in my head
312
that we wanted to leave Arizona to begin with so
313
when you came back from your trip we moved in together and
314
for a year or something like that but then COVID happened
315
and that kind of opened a lot of doors
316
and you had such a great experience in Southeast Asia
317
and specifically Da Nang yeah I went to in 2019 yeah and I was like this is fucking great like
318
i've never even heard of this place this is amazing i don't even know how we ended up there
319
and your best friend stayed for an additional six months you
320
came back to the states to come back to live with me
321
and he stayed there because he loved the apartment yeah it was just hanging out
322
like i'm paying like a hundred
323
and something dollars for this studio that's insane dude yeah so
324
that kind of planted the seed for us um especially
325
so we had talked about going um to vietnam for i mean basically since 2019 um
326
but when covet happened my my job basically made me remote
327
and then so that allowed us the flexibility to go to washington
328
because we were like do we go do we jump ship now
329
and i'll no no we have like so many things
330
that are not ready for us to yeah we had i
331
had student debt we had some credit card debt we were pretty good at saving
332
and whatnot amanda's had the same job for the last 15 years yeah
333
which she'll be leaving which she's very you know kind of obviously freaked out about
334
because that's a drastic change yeah but um
335
and we just weren't financially in a position to do something like that
336
or at least we didn't think we were we didn't really
337
have any passive income um our first passive income came from the rental house
338
that we left left which was the house
339
that amanda had originally bought in arizona when she was really young
340
and so when we moved to washington we now had a stream of passive income
341
so we probably could have built something off of that at
342
that time with how affordable vietnam was
343
but we just weren't ready we didn't know half we didn't know five percent of the things
344
that we know now yeah so yeah we move up to vancouver washington
345
and uh we're there during covid and so a combination of covid
346
and the rain was not ideal not what we were picturing in our heads um
347
but you know when it was good out there during those good months
348
if you're the pacific northwest you know it's like one of the best places in the entire world to be
349
and so we ended up buying our first house there together
350
and we were in it for uh two years
351
and then we started to get that itch that bug again and i've noticed it takes us about two years
352
want to go somewhere habits yeah which will play very consistent which will play into uh
353
our next stop Mexico and then our Florida stop
354
so yeah we were in Washington bought the house together realized
355
like man this isn't exactly where we want to be
356
and the location we're in the rain thing is like real
357
like it's just raining all the time we didn't afford the Oregon side
358
so we had to be on the Washington side
359
and it's much dark you think Portland is dark
360
and rainy no Vancouver Washington is dark and rainy it's real
361
and it's really just right there 20 minutes yeah it's in this position anyways i digress
362
so it was also fairly expensive there um and getting more expensive and
363
so our thought was like hey we have this lot the
364
smaller lot we kind of want some land we want more um
365
so we started looking at texas and we end up going out to what was it
366
oh weatherford weatherford texas just outside of the fort worth dallas area on the fort worth side
367
and we found two beautiful acres and we ended up buying it
368
because we wanted to build a house our own
369
and i know crazy maybe it was impulsive
370
but yeah it was definitely impulsive i do impulsive things you'll learn this um
371
but we bought a piece of land
372
because the vision was still not let's move overseas the vision
373
was like hey we want more property we want to have
374
this area for our family to stretch out i wanted baby
375
alpacas yeah baby a lot of things a lot of baby things are cute uh
376
so we buy that and then was literally it was february 2022 yeah
377
because we bought it we bought our house april 2021 february of 2022 we bought this two acres
378
and literally i think it was july or november
379
so like a few months later we were like yeah let's sell it july
380
or no how did you go from july to november
381
because i can't remember what date it was i a couple days ago i looked
382
that the email it's probably july i think it was july what did we spend on
383
that piece of land 129 000 it's been 129 000 on
384
a piece of land yes a few months later we decided after going back to washington
385
and talking we don't want to be in texas for multiple
386
reasons the property taxes the requirements to build all of these things
387
that were just like
388
that we did not do our proper research really beforehand we're like oh what else can we do
389
and at this point we're like well I had gotten into the insurance space and was able to be working from home.
390
At this time, Amanda was also still working from home.
391
And so we're like, we have a little bit more flexibility.
392
Do you want to consider moving out of the country now?
393
And so we quickly made a decision like, hey, Asia, because we're also in this stage where we're trying to start having our first.
394
baby, which ended up taking us a while.
395
But we're like, hey, let's go move out of the country and have a baby.
396
That'd be cool, right?
397
Yeah.
398
It was cool.
399
But Asia was not on the list because we didn't want to alienate ourselves from our families.
400
My family would have come and visit because they're big travelers, but it would have alienated us a little bit more from Amanda's family.
401
And that's like literally halfway around the world.
402
So it would have been really tough
403
for that change so we decided let's do something a little bit more familiar a little closer to home
404
let's move to mexico mexico also has very favorable things
405
so uh dual citizenship yes the parents of the child born there can apply for permanent residency
406
so at this point it became kind of a strategic plan on multiple levels of why we chose mexico
407
and the timeline which of going there and
408
so we end up going back to arizona for a very short period of time checking on the the uh rental
409
and everything and then we make our way down to mexico
410
and we'd actually gone to mexico a little bit early to check things out because we were considering guess what buying
411
boy when you're young you just do wild yeah especially at the place
412
that we really like because we ended up moving into a place very close to a place
413
that we were looking to buy and the places
414
that we were looking to buy weren't finished yet and so
415
when we ended up getting out there yeah i guess what happened they never got finished
416
so that would have been our money um
417
but anyways it takes us quite some time to sell the
418
piece of property in texas don't think we just bought it flipped it
419
and turned around and sold it we didn't it took us like a year
420
and a half yeah quite some time right before keanu was
421
born right it was literally like two three weeks before Keanu was born yeah
422
so we go down we're in Playa del Carmen Mexico we
423
drove down from Washington to Arizona then drove from Arizona to Playa del Carmen uh
424
which is like it's basically as far in Mexico as you can be on the peninsula
425
so don't do that especially with a trailer what an experience oh my gosh extremely stressful especially
426
when you're one driving yeah we snap the axle on our
427
trailer as soon as we cross the border like one hour into Mexico maybe it was a leaf spring
428
but it wasn't leaves me yeah uh luckily we got fixed there pretty quickly great people saw us right away
429
but yeah fucking horrible experience anyways
430
so we're in mexico we're having a great time uh we're still not pregnant yet
431
and we got pregnant a few months after moving yeah
432
so we're there we're having fun we're i was gonna say
433
single we're not single we're single without kids yeah we have
434
no kids um dual income no kids whatever they call it uh
435
so yeah we end up having a great experience down in Mexico.
436
There's a great community of like natural birthing type stuff down there.
437
So got plugged in with some really cool people, ended up having some, you know, nice apartments, just a cool experience overall.
438
We were there for a year and a half and we had our son Keanu there, which again gave him dual citizenship.
439
So that was fantastic.
440
But we got the itch.
441
We kind of got the itch and we realized, hey, Mexico is not exactly where we want to land where we want to stay we had some close friends
442
that we spent a lot of time with out there who were kind of a older retired couple
443
that ended up packing up they had bought a place out there they sold the place
444
and ended up moving out to Thailand they left like right before we ended up leaving
445
and we decided to move to Florida because my sister
446
and her family's here my parents were coming out from California
447
and we all wanted to be close to each other for a little
448
while so we're in florida
449
that happened 2024 june 19th 2024 we move into this brand new house
450
that was built with my parents again we'll talk about
451
that more at some point in time
452
but we've now been here since june 24th 2024 june 19th
453
2024 it's now a little over two years past the timeline
454
so you know what that means we're sweating it's time to move there's things
455
that we really love about this area like we are 30
456
minutes away from I think what are the best beaches in the entire country
457
but I don't know it's just the cost of things I mean the cost of living all the things
458
that we kind of mentioned before there's wild stuff going on with the government
459
and just all all sorts of things
460
if people are not aware I am mixed my dad is black my mom is white
461
and so just having the dynamic of
462
that is always been interesting throughout my whole life
463
but we just felt like it was time um we were
464
ready to move we've done multiple trips over to southeast asia since we've been here
465
and yeah we were just we decided we were just ready So we've been thinking about this for a while.
466
We knew we were going to get pregnant with our second, our second.
467
And then it was just like, Hey, how quickly after do you think that you will feel good enough for us to end up leaving?
468
And it was just then checking off boxes.
469
Yeah.
470
Cause we moved from Mexico to the States when Keanu was four and a half, five ish months.
471
I kind of had a hard time postpartum with him so I wanted to give us a little bit more time
472
postpartum with this one
473
because I didn't know how the transition from one to two
474
was going to be zero to one took me out
475
so I'm giving myself more flexibility with one to two
476
but at least I have the comfort of knowing we can hire help out there like very inexpensive
477
and that is just one of the things that the luxury things
478
that we know will be able to afford out there to give us a better quality of life
479
and especially leaving the help here
480
so that's making the transition a little bit easier for my mental load
481
but we have a timeline in in our mind
482
so six to seven months from now yeah I think that's
483
pretty solid again we've been out to Southeast Asia multiple times
484
we've done apartment tours with the expectation of moving out there to get an idea obviously there's been some changes
485
and there'll be changes over time on minuscule prices of things
486
but But we want to talk about the next and last topic, which is why we chose Vietnam,
487
but more specifically, Da Nang, because we were considering potentially other spots to land as our first stop.
488
So we did, on that same trip, we went to Da Nang.
489
We did also go to Ho Chi Minh City.
490
I've heard really good things about Ho Chi Minh City, so I had really high expectations for it, but I think...
491
And it's so big because there's so many districts.
492
We weren't there long enough to like...
493
Explore all the districts.
494
We did the touristy stuff.
495
So obviously that's going to be the most crowded areas and things like that.
496
So this is not a knock at Ho Chi Minh at all because we definitely have plans to go there.
497
But Da Nang really resonated with us.
498
And I think it just kind of reminded me of the things that I liked about Playa del Carmen.
499
It's kind of the beach town but there's better infrastructure
500
and a little bit more modernist um so i think
501
that kind of solves the issue of the things
502
that we did not like about playa del carmen
503
and then just being by the beach i mean we're by
504
the beach now we were by the beach before even
505
when we can love the beach now yeah especially
506
because he can swim yeah i swim by myself i swim
507
by myself with his vest on yeah he's obsessed with the water um
508
but just the overall vibe there we made some friends there
509
while we were there um so i think
510
that would be a good first landing space for us especially
511
since we already have a little bit of a community there yeah
512
and we just got a great feeling from denon
513
and you know the the access to food there not like again not like ho chi min
514
so really the three kind of places
515
that we were looking at was um up to this point still doing research
516
but in ho chi minh we were kind of looking at some stuff
517
but really more specifically looking at district 9 the the vin homes out there
518
and looking at family oriented places that are very walkable safe for kids
519
if you haven't checked out district 9 and you have a family definitely check
520
that out when we get out to vietnam we'll do some stuff about going out there
521
and showing what it's like but it's a city within a city it's pretty amazing what's out there and it's extremely
522
affordable right now way more so than Danang yeah so
523
that kind of drew us there but Ho Chi Minh has no beach
524
so you know we do love the beach then we were
525
also looking up north around Hanoi at an area another kind
526
of city within a city outside of Hanoi about 30 minutes
527
called Eco Park very green very luscious area out there
528
and again very family oriented not as affordable as the district 9 in ho chi minh
529
but you know still really gives you that awesome family vibe
530
and you're only about 30 minutes away from uh hanoi like the city yeah like the airport
531
and stuff like that so those are two spots we were really heavily considering
532
and those are definitely two spots where we still may potentially end up living for a period of time
533
but because of the familiar familiarity with danang
534
and uh the beach the food all the things to do it being an international airport
535
which was really convenient how kind of I don't want to say big
536
but small it felt but it has
537
that kind of feeling where it's like you get the big skyscraper type buildings with the hotels
538
and whatnot but it's still very easy to get to
539
and navigate the pace of traffic is substantially slower there than it is in the two other cities yeah
540
so I think it's gonna be a good transition coming from the states to denying just because
541
of the the slower pace of life i think it you know
542
if we were to go straight into ho chi min after
543
coming from the small town in florida we'd be like oh this is very overwhelming
544
because it was overwhelming when we were there maybe not
545
so much in the you know the vinhome community
546
but um yeah i think we'll definitely start off in denon
547
at who knows how long we'll be there for you yeah
548
yeah we really maybe we'll do two years in denon and then we'll go to another one of the spots.
549
But again, so the whole idea with this series and whatnot, we're going to break down literally everything,
550
what we're packing, what we're leaving behind financially, how we're doing this, what our finances look like, what we have saved, what we have as passive income, what exactly we do for work,
551
like literally anything that you can think of, we'll be talking about it.
552
And then if you have questions and you want things, you want us to discuss things, the whole visa thing, you know,
553
what hospitals we're kind of looking at for kids over there, what potential schooling situations we're going to be doing, because we've been doing a ton, a ton of research.
554
So we don't have all the answers yet, but we do plan on sharing as much as possible with you guys,
555
because we know that there are other families out there looking to do this.
556
There is a, I'm not saying this in a bad way, like we don't love the U .S., because we do love the U .S.
557
You're very fortunate to be here.
558
Yeah, it is extremely, we're extremely fortunate to be, we've got the golden ticket to be born in the U .S.
559
But we know that there is a large exodus of people because of multiple reasons going to other places.
560
One of the big ones is financial.
561
So like we want to be as transparent as possible with you guys on this journey
562
and showing you why we're doing this and the cost of everything
563
and whatnot and how you have the potential to do it too if you have these few things set up.
564
But yeah, if you have questions or you want to know things, let us know in the comments.
565
We'll make videos about it or we'll do Q &A type deals.
566
And then at some point in time, we'll start like a little membership portion where we'll get on
567
and we'll answer questions live with you guys
568
and help people get some things solved in their lives
569
and figure some stuff out on how they can move out as well.
570
But yeah, we're really looking forward to the change.
571
We are counting down the days, the weeks, the months.
572
It's coming fast.
573
It's terrifying.
574
It's exciting, but also a little scary.
575
It's time we get our shit together.
576
But yeah, do you got anything else, babe, that you want to add?
577
I'm not exactly sure what we're going to talk about in the next video, so you'll have to stay tuned, but we'll be trying to put these out on a very
578
regular basis i'm talking you know hopefully three a month for sure um
579
they probably won't all be this long this is about 40 minutes
580
but still you get a background of us yeah i wanted
581
to give you guys an insight on what the king family is working with
582
and uh maybe next time you'll see keanu probably not a little crazy anyways anything else
583
that you love you love you
584
if you haven't checked out some of our other stuff go check it out thank you thank you
585
so much for the support and the comments
586
and everything the engagement we absolutely love it especially if you're positive
587
if you're not positive piss off me come on I'm postpartum don't say me
588
but outside of that whoa catch you on the flippity -flip catch you on the flippity -flip peace y 'all
