London's parks were originally owned and run by the royal family to provide hunting and recreational opportunities.
3
But nowadays there are eight public parks with full access to people for leisure and sports activities such as jogging.
4
Britain's a nation of sports lovers and crickets are popular game in schools.
5
It can be confusing to watch at first, as everyone plays in the same colour, white.
6
But it's fairly simple to play, really.
7
One player throws the ball and another tries to hit it with the bat, like in baseball.
8
Matches can last a day or even up to five days for international ones, so there can be a lot of waiting around,
9
especially if rain stops play, as frequently happens.
10
School playing fields offer good opportunities to play team sports such as rounders here.
11
Nearly all schools have a playing field and sports are a compulsory part of the national curriculum.
12
Of course you can just have a kick around with friends during the break time, using jackets as goal posts.
13
In Cambridge people like to spend their free time relaxing down by the river Cam.
14
You can go punting on a flat-bottomed boat a little like a gondola.
15
It's a traditional pastime of the university students at Cambridge, but anyone can have a go.
16
If you have a nice flat lawn, you can play croquet, which originates from the 19th century.
17
So what do you think of the Cambridge campus?
18
I quite like it.
19
I quite like the idea to be on a campus with other students to live there, to have sports to do there.
20
So do you play any sports?
21
Yeah, I play basketball on a recreational basis.
22
And as well as that, I also started playing American football in the summer.
23
It's been quite fun, learning a new sport.
24
And as well as a bit of rugby as well.
25
So how often do you practice?
26
Well, tennis I get an opportunity maybe twice a week for about three hours.
27
Basketball is on a basis where on a Friday afternoon we kind of have a training session every week
28
and then there are games and matches and so on.
29
My main sport is kickboxing and then I do
30
that mainly outside college and then in Cambridge I do rowing and I play football and I go running.
31
How often do you practice kickboxing?
32
When I'm at home, five or six times a week.
