1
Hey everyone, welcome back to the channel.
2
If you're new here, hi, I'm Hannah.
3
And today we're talking about something so many of you have been asking me about, including my mom, because she recently started learning English.
4
How do I start learning English if I'm a complete beginner?
5
But the advice I'm going to share today isn't just for beginners.
6
It applies to anyone at any level who's feeling stuck or wondering what to do next on their English learning journey.
7
I know that starting out can feel overwhelming.
8
There are millions of words, so many grammar rules, and it feels like everyone around you already speaks English better than you.
9
But here's the good news.
10
You do not need to know everything to start speaking English.
11
You just need a clear plan and a fun one too.
12
So in this video, I'm going to give you a step-by-step study plan for beginners and not only.
13
Where to begin, what to focus on, and how to study without burning out.
14
By the end of this video you'll know exactly how to build your English skills day by day.
15
And trust me, it's gonna be much easier than you think.
16
So let's dive in.
17
Step one, start small and real.
18
Okay so here's the biggest mistake beginners make.
19
They try to learn everything at once.
20
They buy a huge grammar book, download five different apps, memorize hundreds of words.
21
And after a week, they're completely overwhelmed.
22
The first time you learn to drive, nobody gives you a Formula One race car.
23
You start simple.
24
Think small.
25
Imagine you're moving to another country tomorrow.
26
What would you actually need on your first day?
27
Well, probably not words like government, philosophy, or environmental sustainability, right?
28
You'd probably need things like, hi, my name is, and insert your name, my name is Hannah.
29
How much is this?
30
Can you help me?
31
Where is the bathroom?
32
A very important one.
33
I don't understand.
34
These are real life phrases that you'll actually use.
35
I like to think of English as building a house.
36
You don't start with the roof.
37
You don't even start with the walls.
38
you start with the foundation.
39
Every simple phrase you learn is another brick and once you have enough bricks suddenly you're able to build conversations.
40
Here's something that I recommend instead of learning 100 random phrases in one day big just five.
41
Write them down say them out loud and use them throughout the day.
42
For example, introduce yourself throughout the day.
43
Even if you're just talking to a cat, say something like, hi, my name is Hannah.
44
Or every time someone gives you something, even at home, say thank you.
45
It might feel silly at first, but that's exactly how habits are built.
46
The goal isn't to know thousands of words.
47
The goal is to make a small number of useful phrases feel completely natural.
48
Step 2.
49
Focus on listening and repeating.
50
If I could give every beginner only one piece of advice, it would be this.
51
Spend more time listening than studying grammar.
52
Why?
53
Why?
54
Because language isn't math, it's music.
55
Before you worry about writing essays, build your ears.
56
When babies learn their first language, nobody sits them down and explains grammar.
57
Nobody says, today we're studying the present continuous.
58
They simply hear thousands and thousands of sentences every day.
59
Their brain starts recognizing patterns naturally.
60
And that's exactly what we want to recreate.
61
Watch movies.
62
Watch short videos.
63
Watch cartoons.
64
Watch YouTube.
65
Watch YouTube shorts.
66
Watch TV shows.
67
Literally anything that's interesting to you.
68
But here's the important part.
69
Don't just watch.
70
Participate.
71
Pause, let's say, every other sentence and repeat it.
72
copy everything.
73
Not just the words.
74
Copy the rhythm, the speed, the pronunciation.
75
Copy the emotion.
76
If somebody says, what are you doing?
77
Don't just repeat those words.
78
Say them exactly the way they did.
79
Imagine you're an actor trying to imitate another actor perfectly.
80
This technique is called shadowing and it's incredibly powerful because you're training several skills at the same time.
81
You're improving your listening, you're working on your speaking, you're improving your pronunciation, your speaking speed, and your confidence.
82
Even if you don't understand every word yet, keep copying.
83
Your brain is collecting pattern without you even realizing it.
84
Step three, vocabulary in context.
85
This is one of the biggest reasons people forget vocabulary.
86
Many beginners make the mistake of memorizing random word lists.
87
They learn words instead of language.
88
Think about it.
89
If I just tell you the word umbrella, you'll probably remember it for a little while.
90
But if I tell you, don't forget your umbrella, it's gonna rain.
91
Now there's a situation.
92
There's a picture.
93
There's a story.
94
Your brain loves stories.
95
Our brains aren't designed to remember disconnected information.
96
They're designed to remember experiences.
97
That's why I almost never recommend memorizing long vocabulary lists.
98
Instead, learn entire chunks.
99
For example, don't just learn the word hungry.
100
Learn I'm hungry.
101
You added one little piece, but it's already a sentence.
102
Don't just memorize the word busy.
103
Say I'm very busy today.
104
Don't just memorize late.
105
Say sorry I'm late.
106
Now Now you've learned vocabulary, grammar, and pronunciation all at the same time.
107
Even better, every time you learn a new word, immediately create three sentences with it.
108
Let's say today's word is coffee.
109
You could say, I drank coffee every morning, or I need another coffee, or this coffee is too hot.
110
And congratulations, you didn't just learn one word, you practiced English.
111
Step four, light grammar.
112
Don't stress.
113
Grammar is important, but here's what wish more beginners knew grammar is supposed to
114
help you speak it's not supposed to stop you from speaking
115
so don't try to learn all 12 english tenses in one
116
week you'll probably confuse yourself instead master the basics first present
117
simple past simple future with will think of these as your three time machines.
118
Present tells people what's true now.
119
I work.
120
I like pizza.
121
I live in Chicago.
122
Past tells people about yesterday.
123
I worked yesterday.
124
I watched a movie.
125
I visited my friend.
126
And future lets you talk about tomorrow.
127
I will call you tomorrow.
128
I will study tonight.
129
I will travel next year.
130
And you know, that's even enough to have real conversations.
131
In fact, Imagine someone asks you, how was your weekend?
132
That was in the past simple.
133
Or what do you do?
134
It's in the present simple.
135
Or what are your plans for next week?
136
It's in the future.
137
See, you've already covered a huge part of everyday English.
138
Later, you'll learn the other tenses naturally because you'll keep hearing them.
139
Don't try to memorize every grammar rule.
140
Notice the pattern.
141
Use them and repeat them.
142
Grammar becomes much easier when it's connected to real communication instead of pages in a textbook.
143
Step 5.
144
Make English part of your life.
145
The students who improve faster aren't always the smartest.
146
They are usually the ones who spend most time around English.
147
Not studying, but living with English.
148
Imagine you move to England tomorrow.
149
You'd improve much faster simply because English would surround you all day.
150
Now, most of us can't just move to another country, but we can bring English into our daily lives.
151
For example, change your phone to English.
152
Read product labels in English.
153
Watch YouTube in English.
154
Listen to podcasts in English.
155
Read comments under videos.
156
Talk to yourself while, let's say, cooking.
157
I need a knife.
158
I'm making dinner.
159
The water is boiling.
160
simple things.
161
Nobody has to hear you.
162
You're simply giving your brain thousands of little opportunities to practice.
163
Think of English like watering a plant.
164
You don't pour 50 gallons of water on it once a month.
165
You water it little by little every day.
166
Consistency is everything.
167
15 minutes a day is better than two hours every two weeks.
168
Think about it like exercise as well.
169
It's better to move every single day little by little than run a marathon once a month.
170
Those small daily movements are what make the biggest difference over time.
171
Now step six, start speaking before you feel ready.
172
This might be the hardest advice in the entire video.
173
Start speaking before you feel ready.
174
Because here's a secret, nobody ever feels ready, not even advanced students.
175
Everyone thinks I'll start speaking after I learn more vocabulary.
176
Then I'll start after I finish grammar.
177
And then maybe I'll start next month.
178
And that day never comes.
179
Think about learning to ride a bicycle.
180
You can watch videos, read books, study balance, understand how bicycles work.
181
But until you actually get one and start riding it, you won't learn.
182
Speaking is exactly the same.
183
Yes, you'll make mistakes.
184
Yes, you'll forget words.
185
Yes, sometimes your brain will completely freeze and that's normal.
186
Mistakes aren't signs that you're bad at English.
187
They're signs that you're actually using English.
188
Every mistake teaches your brain something and you don't need to find a native speaker either to speak to them.
189
Talk to your friends.
190
Join an online speaking group.
191
Use language exchange groups.
192
Use language exchange apps.
193
Read out loud.
194
That's a very good one.
195
Describe pictures.
196
Talk to yourself while driving.
197
Or stand in front of a mirror and pretend you're filming your own YouTube video.
198
The goal isn't perfection.
199
The goal is building confidence.
200
Because confidence doesn't come first.
201
Confidence comes after thousands of small conversations.
202
So don't wait until your English is perfect.
203
Start speaking now and let speaking make your English better.
204
And step number seven, don't study English.
205
Live in English.
206
Here's the biggest mindset shift I want you to leave with today.
207
Stop asking yourself, how can I study more?
208
Instead, ask, how can I use English more?
209
Every time you order coffee, watch Netflix, scroll TikTok, write a shopping list, send a text, or think about your day,
210
those are opportunities to practice English.
211
The students who became fluent aren't necessarily the ones who studied the hardest.
212
They're the ones who make English part of their everyday life because language isn't something you memorize.
213
All right, let's wrap it up.
214
If you follow this, you'll be surprised how fast you'll start speaking and understanding English.
215
Remember, learning English isn't about perfection.
216
It's about progress.
217
Every sentence you learn and speak brings you one step closer to fluency.
218
So don't give up, don't wait for the perfect time, and most importantly, enjoy the journey.
219
Alrighty you guys, if you found this video helpful, thumbs up please.

222
I'd love to read your story and I'll see you in the next one.
223
Bye.
