Memorable scene in the rain where
2
Key clip instinctively reaches out to shield
3
Cat's face that she looks up at him.
4
It's a bit futile when you think about it because it doesn't really do anything.
5
I know.
6
It was a small one.
7
And I hope that whenever it rains people go up to each other on the street
8
and we go like this and learn something.
9
Hi, BOG.
10
Tomorrow by 2GWITHER, 연주입니다.
11
Today, I'm going to talk about BOG and the 폭풍의 언덕 영화 interview.
12
I'm so excited to see you in the movie.
13

14

15
I'm so excited to see you in the movie.
16
I'm so excited to see you in the movie.
17
I'm so excited to see you in the movie.
18
I'm so excited to see you in the movie.
19
I'm so excited to see you in the movie.
20
I'm so excited to see you in the movie.
21
I'm so excited to see you in the movie.
22
I think I can't see a movie in a little bit.
23
I can't see a movie on the plane.
24
It's my healing time.
25
Before I go to the United States, I've seen a movie at least five times.
26
I'm so excited to see a movie in the movie.
27
Let's see in a moment.
28
Hi everyone, I'm Yeonjun from Tomorrow by Together a K -pop group in Korea
29
and I'll be your host for today's interview to get us started could you introduce yourself
30
and tell us a bit about the characters
31
you play in the film my name is Margot Robbie I play Catherine in the movie Wuthering Heights Kathy
32
and Heathcliff the character Jacob plays in this doomed love story
33
that really affects the other people around them and I play I play Heathcliff.
34
An obsessive but absolute lover.
35
My name's Alison Oliver and I play Isabella who is Edgar's sister who ends up marrying Heathcliff.
36
Oh by the way you guys look wonderful today.
37
This is my first question for all.
38
When you first heard about the project what went through your mind um i was just
39
so excited for emerald because i i knew how much this book meant to her
40
so i was just so excited
41
that emerald was going to be um adapting her version of of the story yeah likewise i was just
42
so intrigued what emerald's take would be i feel like she always has such a
43
unique perspective on things in a way of telling a story
44
that results in a visceral experience for an audience
45
so i was really excited to see what she would do
46
with this with this material my next thought was oh should i go read the book before reading her script
47
or should i let the script be my very first introduction to wuthering heights
48
because i've never read the book before and
49
so i ended up letting the script be my first impression of um this story
50
which i'm really really glad i did
51
and obviously since then i've read the book a bunch of times
52
and it's magnificent this was for Jacob the five years after
53
Heathcliff leaves Kathy Arendt explicitly shown in the film what do you imagine
54
he endured during those unseen years how did you feel in
55
that emotional gap in your performance I imagine he was on a ship
56
somewhere on a boat is in the beginning of the film he's he's closed off
57
and he's hunched over and he's hiding from the world
58
and I had these dramatic images of him rigging the masts
59
and pulling his carriage upright so he would learn to stand up straight when he returned.
60
Next one is for Margo.
61
I also heard that you color -coded the script using shades of pink, red and blue to reflect Kathy's emotion.
62
What did each of these colors symbolize to you?
63
I found it easier to relate to Kathy's emotional journey in the form of colors
64
and I could kind of orient myself because of course
65
when you make a movie you shoot everything out of order
66
so you might be flipping you know from one moment you're doing a scene towards the end of the movie
67
and the next moment you're in a very different emotional state.
68
I find it helpful to kind of have some way to navigate the emotional journey
69
and colors seemed more resonant with Kathy I think
70
because she's such a passionate
71
and deep feeling person you know sometimes I fill my scripts with a lot of writing
72
and more cerebral thoughts but
73
that didn't feel like it made sense for Kathy she felt more um instinctual um you know
74
and reacting to her emotions and impulses so
75
i needed yeah i did
76
that with the use of color uh fashion is a powerful
77
story telling soul in the film is there a particular look worn by your co -star
78
that left the strongest impression on you
79
Yeah, I feel like everyone's costumes were... So epic.
80
We had the most amazing costume designer called Jacqueline Duran.
81
Each character's sort of journey through their clothes and you find such individuality with like, I found with my character Isabella,
82
she sort of has like a palette of like three or four sort of baby colours,
83
like baby pink and all of her clothes were quite youthful
84
and childlike so much of the story is told
85
and the characters journey through the clothes me
86
and Margot would come out every day in our new outfits
87
and just like scream like little children because the clothes were
88
so amazing and I think they're a huge part of what makes the film so special.
89
And with the long veil on Cathy's wedding dress were there any like practical challenges during filming?
90
Yeah in the case of the veil
91
which was really really long we were out on location the whole crew ended up having to step in
92
and hold the veil up
93
and right before we'd call action everyone would throw it in the air
94
and run out of frame and then we would walk across
95
and it was made out of this really beautiful silk like you know jacqueline
96
and her team found the lightest most beautiful silk they could of course
97
when you're out in the moors there's twigs and sticks
98
and things that that can destroy your clothes quite quickly
99
so we were all very worried for the veil
100
but it looked beautiful on camera it all worked out yeah it was it was beautiful
101
Next one is for Jacob.
102
There is a particularly memorable scene in the rain where Heathcliff
103
instinctively reaches out to shield Kathy's face as she looks up at him.
104
How did that moment come together?
105
Was it scripted or did it happen naturally on set?
106
It happened naturally because Mark was a bit wet in the rain.
107
It's a bit futile when you think about it because it doesn't really do anything.
108
It was a small one.
109
Yeah, it was really sweet.
110
How do you hope Wuthering Heights will resonate with audiences?
111
I think Emerald has built such a unique world for everyone to kind of step into
112
when they go to hopefully see it in the cinema that I find like whenever I've seen it,
113
I feel like I just sort of escape into the world of it.
114
And I think that's a really lovely feeling when you go to the cinema that you just really step into another universe.
115
And so I hope people just enjoy it and feel the feelings of the characters, I guess.
116
And I hope that whenever it rains, people go up to each other on the street and go like this.
117
Learn something.
118
That's good.
119
This is going to be the last question for you all.
120
Ultimately, what is the core question you hope this film leaves with audiences? my hope is
121
that um that everyone loves more and
122
and wears their hearts on the outside of their chests and
123
and bears themselves to each other and let emotion in and
124
and let it out and sort of open up a bit
125
and i hope more filmmakers feel emboldened to you know have difficult characters in their story
126
and and trust
127
that the audience will stick with them especially the character
128
i played is pretty awful um to a lot of the other people in the movie
129
and i feel like the temptation for storytellers to make everyone likable
130
and make things very easy
131
and digestible for audiences doesn't necessarily mean
132
you're going to have the most entertaining experience i think
133
i mean it's part of the reason i love korean films
134
so much i feel like so many directors in korea are
135
so bold and so daring and and kind of trust
136
that the audience is going to stick with the film despite the swings
137
they're making yeah i hope i hope more filmmakers make keep making bold choices like emerald does uh thank you
138
so much for joining us today uh it was a real pleasure speaking with you
139
and we'll be rooting for bothering hearts thank you
140
so much thank you very Thank you so much.
