3
What are you doing?
4
Hey everyone, it's Hadar.
5
Today we are going to practice connected speech and we're gonna do
6
that while practicing very common daily expressions that we use in our day-to-day conversations.
7
So we're gonna achieve two things.
8
The first, we are going to practice connected speech.
9
And the second, we are going to practice
10
and make more available common daily phrases so you can feel more confident using them regularly.
11
But first, let's talk a little bit about connected speech.
12
Connected speech is the way we connect a thought or an idea or a part of a sentence together.
13
In English, when we think of a thought inside a sentence, all the words are connected within the same breath.
14
So, it actually feels like it's one long word like I'm doing right now.
15
We don't separate the speech word by word.
16
However, a lot of speakers of English as a second language tend to do that because they want to sound more clear,
17
or maybe these are habits that they bring into English from their first language.
18
And while that's totally valid, sometimes in the attempt at sounding clearer,
19
it actually prevents them from sounding clear because people are used to hearing thoughts grouped together,
20
so it makes it easier for you to be understood and to deliver your message when you connect words together.
21
I actually have a long video giving you some tips on how to use connected speech.
22
I'm going to link it in the description below.
23
But today we're not going to go deep into connected speech, just learn the idea through practice.
24
And like I said, the practice is going to be a very, very useful phrases so that you can start using them more confidently in your day-to-day life.
25
Now to make it even better, I created a free PDF and audio practice so that after this video,
26
You can download it for free and practice it with me on the go
27
so that you can make it a habit through repetition
28
and through practice and not just like learning it once and that's it.
29
Okay?
30
So don't say I'm not trying to make it easy for you.
31
I am, but you will have to do a little bit as well by practicing with me.
32
So click to download the PDF for free.

Connected speech in 25 very common conversational phrases.
136
I hope you found it helpful, and if you did, make sure you download the PDF
137
and audio practice so you can continue practicing it through repetition and connected speech practice.
138
You see what we did there?
139
How we connected the words together and all of a sudden, there was a mishmash of syllables, but when you put it together, it just sounds like the phrase like the phrase.
140
Confusing, but then when you zoom out you're like, oh, I get it.
141
Now remember that connected speech will help you sound clearer, but also it will really help you understand speakers better because when you practice it,
142
your brain understands how it works and then you are more likely to understand it when you hear it,
143
to recognize it, to recognize those connections and to make sense of it.
144
So this practice is not less important for comprehension than it is for pronunciation.
145
Okay?
146
So remember that.
147
Keep practicing.
148
You got this.
149
Thank you so much for being here.
150
Have a beautiful, beautiful rest of the day and I will see you next week in the next video.
151
Bye!

이 레슨에 대해

"25 daily phrases to practice your connected speech"
