Allah Subh'anaHu Wa Ta-A'la, He says, وَالشَّمْسَ وَالْقَمَرَ وَالنُّجُومَ مُسَخَّرَاتٍ بِأَمْرِهِ أَلَا لَهُ الْخَلْقُ وَالْأَمْرِ تَبَارَكَ اللَّهُ

رَبُّ الْعَالَمِينَ This is an ajeeb verse where Allah Subh'anaHu Wa Ta-A'la is talking about creating the sun

and the moon and the stars.

Then He says they're all subjugated to His command.

أَلَا لَهُ الْخَلْقُ وَالْأَمْرِ To Allah belongs the created realm and the command.

Blessed is Allah the Lord of the worlds What do we understand from this?

That Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala veils like a curtain He camouflages His command

that has the actual effect with the asbab Because the asbab are a test Like the sun, the moon, all these things that you see

Because Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala says إِنَّا جَعَلْنَا مَا عَلَى الْأَرْضِ زِينَةً لَهَا لِنَبْلُوَهُمْ

So it's a type of test that I have to pierce through So the point of asbab,

therefore the ابتلا of the mu'min and the اطمئنان of the kafir.

So what's the point?

It's to test the believer and it's for the comfort of the non-believer.

So we guys are here today to talk about decoding asbab.

Absolutely.

That was a great introduction for decoding asbab and how we should look at things and what to believe in these things.

Could we talk a little bit more about decoding asbab and how we can decode these asbab?

Absolutely, because our life is packed with these worldly means.

So by asbab, they're typically things that we see, we perceive, bring about some sort of effect.

Like if I look at the sun, it seems like it appears to be that the light is coming from the sun If I look at the clouds, it appears to be

that the rain is coming down from the clouds That's what Allah is showing us But like we said, it's for the ابتلا of a believer

That the believer is مبتلا ببصري He's being tested with what he perceives

So the point is that ultimately it is the command that has the effect Look, at the time of death, right now, do you see me, Diyah?

Yes.

Can you hear me?

Yes.

Can you speak?

Yes.

Can you move your hand?

Yes.

Absolutely.

Because you're alive.

I'm making sure.

But you're alive, you know?

You're alive.

Okay, let's say, inshallah, after a long life, the angel of death were to come right now.

And he were to take your life.

You, take your life.

It is a podcast, it is a message, but your life.

Okay, so Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala, He is testing us with these things.

So when the angel of death comes to take your life, what is he taking?

Spirit.

The ruh.

The nafs.

So now let's say that he does his job, the angel of death.

Yes.

And it's just your body there.

Does the eye now see me?

The same eye that saw me before you died.

No. No. Can the ear hear me?

No. No. What was removed from you?

The soul, the spirit.

The ruh.

And what does Allah say about the ruh?

وَيَسْأَلُونَكَ عَنِ الرُّوحِ قُلِ الرُّوحُ مِنْ أَمْرِ رَبِّي He says, they ask you about the spirit.

Tell them that it is from the command of Allah.

So what was removed from you, the ruh was the command of Allah.

So you actually see by the command of Allah.

And you hear by the command of Allah.

Because when it was removed, you could no longer see, nor could you hear.

The asbab, they're veiling what's really happening behind the scenes.

It is Allah's command that is doing.

But Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala operates in three different ways.

He does typically 99.9% of the time because this is darul asbab.

The dunya is the world of means because we're being tested.

So Allah 99.9% of the time, he's doing and operating through asbab.

But it's important to understand that through asbab doesn't mean that the sabab is doing.

It's only appearing to do.

It's a trick of the eye.

Even Allah says, فَكَشَفْنَا عَنْكَ غِطَاءَكَ At the time of death.

So it's like, I remove the veil, I remove the cover.

Now you could see what you couldn't see before.

Hadid means sharp.

You could catch what, and even, you know, there's a very interesting thing here.

Why did he say hadid?

Iron is the only element that didn't originate from earth

Allah says Science has found that comets

Because it needs a very hot environment to develop or to be So Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala There were comets,

supernova, stars that exploded And this element of hadith came down

So Allah says So is it from this earth or out of this world?

Out of this world It's out of this world So it says if Allah is saying, you're going to see things now outside of the world, outside of this world.

You're being tested, but Allah is operating through the means.

Again, what does that mean?

That Allah is doing, but he's simply veiling this activity with the worldly phenomena.

He created the sun and the moon and the stars and they're subjected to Allah's command.

The sun is veiling the fact that it is Allah.

It is Him that provides the light.

The light doesn't come from the sun, but it doesn't mean that we don't utilize the asbab.

Now, we said Allah operates in three ways.

Let's mention them first.

Allah operates through the means without the means and against the means.

So let's take it again Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala operates yes through the means.

He's doing but veiling his doing with the worldly phenomenon.

And he's giving her the fruits of the winter in the summer.

So it's like this means that Allah provided for her without means.

And there are times that Allah operates against the means.

When Ibrahim A.S was thrown into the fire, the fire typically does what?

This is the Qudra of Allah.

So Allah operates through the means, Allah operates without the means, and Allah operates against the means so the asbab is from Allah

But now the command of Allah wasn't there He didn't tell him

So he said no Follow the commands man You'll be happy We take the asbab

in every sebab that's happening in your life, there's a good reason behind this and it's from Allah's command.

This is very important because when I ask most people, why do you eat?

The majority of people will say, because I'm hungry.

But the believer doesn't, he's command oriented.

He doesn't eat because he's hungry.

Most of us, most of us eat because we're hungry.

One of our shuyukhi was passing by a group of people

and they had someone responsible for them that's very righteous religious and he was giving them advice Ya ikhwan,

oh brothers when you eat eat with the intention to gain strength to pray To worship Allah.

So the one of our shuyukhi who's mashallah on the next level, you know He passed by he said mashallah since when does food give you strength?

There's nothing wrong with eating with that intention to gain strength, to worship Allah.

Now eating becomes ibadah.

But the issue is that your yaqeen is that food gives you strength.

And he's telling them, they asked him, so why should we eat?

Because it's so subtle, latif, but it's there in the Quran.

Most people only when they think of the commands of Allah, they think he commanded me to pray.

But he accepted the return nonetheless.

I opened the business just to fulfill that hadith of Rasulullah.
